A jacket made from the most endangered animal you have

I'm a regular reader over at Portland Indymedia so it's been interested to watch the saga of the fur store protests they do. Their tales of "police brutality" (the cuffs were too tight) and utter amazement that a law enforcement officer wouldn't take kindly to being threatened make for good reading.

Yesterday the topic moved to the Lars Larson show and the Indymedia nuts are quite proud of themselves.

I would encourage all of you to patronize Schumacher Furs, especially on a Saturday.

Question: After reading a bit of Indy Media's website, How "Independant" can they be when they are so invested in America becoming a Communist state? They seem to hate freedom, or at least your freedom and my freedom to chose what products we buy. Yeah that's enlightened.

While I support Schumacher Furs right to do business free from harrassment I will not be patronizing their business. I personally would never wear fur (although I wear leather so flame away) but what has been happening to this business is reprehensible.

I've neither a real use for nor the money to purchase fur, but I agree with Denise.

Why can't we dump paint on the animal whack jobs? Skid proof paint.

Fireman Randy Leonard, resident dingbat of the City Council, suggested yesterday that Schumacher should move out of the downtown area if he doesn't like the unwanted attention his store is getting by these anarchists. That is a fine idea, but before Schumacher does that, he should rally all the other downtown businesses to join with him, and everyone of them move out, too. That way Fireman Randy would have a whole downtown area for his anarchists to run rampant disrupting the remaining businesses that cannot , or will not, move out. That would effectively render downtown completely irrelevant, similar to Vancouver's downtown area. Also, that would cut off any and all city business taxes. Maybe then Fireman Randy would come to his senses. After all, his motto is, "If it can be taxed, we'll tax it!"

Of course, all this is wishful thinking and speculation. It ain't gonna happen. But, if it did, maybe, just maybe, Fireman Randy would be given the boot the next time his reelection cycle comes up.

The website of these America-loathing fanatics lays out the true treason of their ways for all the world to see.

...over 25 protesters stood in the cold and rain to leaflet, chant, hold signs and educate the public about the fur trade.

Sure do hate freedom, don't they? I sympathize with your predicament, Tim.

One protester brought his guitar and enthusiastically sang anti-fur songs.

How are we expected to buy a flashy new squirrel-fur overcoat with the atonal nightmare of liberal music eating away at the fabric of our consciousness?!

Maybe if we made coats out of them, we could rechannel this love and devotion to the protection of unborn babies being stabbed, crushed, broken and sucked out of unaware mothers.

Yeah, come on down. Just be sure to where your Swastikas so we know it is you.

Well, folks, remembering that the anarchists aren't interested in any individual cause, but are determined to, "bring this country to its knees," we should welcome such anti-capitalist activities. When enough businesses (and jobs) are moved to 'other than blue' areas, we can watch the anarchists protest each other while they all starve to death. BTW, celery, have another toke. If you were here, you'd notice that America is thriving while a world war is in progress. Oregon lags behind, economically, as usual, because Portland, Eugene and Salem are determined to value ideology over intelligence.

Speaking just for myself, I would club a baby seal to death if I could get a pair of slippers out of it...

Purchased my wife's 5th anniversary Blue Fox Jacket from Schumacher's. We're looking at this month's budget to support them again.

Ahh Randy Leonard, WHAT A GUY, the most arrogant person next to my EX I ever met.

Asked another retired fireman about him as a fireman, "WELL, HE WA A GOOD COOK!" he replied!

There is no chance an "R" can get elected in this city.

Dave Lister is not anyone I'd trust, he run's the first time a shot is fired....TRUST ME THAT!

I have to agree with Lars Larson on this one. Harassing a business to force them out of business is wrong. As Lars said, first the fur business, next it might be your business. where will it stop?

I will also admit that I own a rabbit fur jacket. I bought this about 20 years ago long before the development of realistic synthetic fur which are not only just as realistic, but are also more durable.

but before we go harassing a fur business, step back and look around you and see how many products that we have around the house and in our cars that were made from animals.

chairs, wallets, upholstery, food... just to name a few.

while I do not like the idea of sacrificing an animal, we all do it to some extent.

I want a coat made out of Republican scalps with a few fetuses dangling like tassles.

Our city dwelling society has grown so out of touch with common sense. Animals are here on this earth for our use. I proudly eat them and wear their skins. There are very few people who don't. I think people have become so used to buying there neatly packaged meat products from the grocery store that they have lossed touch will reality. There is absolutely nothing wrong with killing an animal as long as you do it respectfully by utilizing the meat and the skins.

Reality check people!!!

Daniel,
Baby Seals also make great sporrans. ( That is the pouch on the front of a kilt). Canda just started their annual seal hunt. Some people get all the fun.

Leave it to Anonymous to come up with some completely stupid comment, like the one about Republican scalps. But, I guess, it is just in his nature to come up with these inanities. I'm sure tomorrow will bring another one.

WE SOLVE THE FUR AND SCHOOL ISSUE, THINK OF THE MONEY WE COULD MAKE ON THIS?.

The five male members of the council, challenge citizens to a "TOUGHMAN fight."

Well,"FOUR" of them anyway!

All money goes to schools to hire more students to replace those smart enough to get out of the system.

Headlining the card will be that well known "TOUGH GUY" Randy" the FIREMAN Leonard, fighting him will be Greg Shumacher, if Greg will not be available, perhaps to make it easier for Leonard to get his butt kicked, that lady with the doggy daycare center Leonard is trying to screw(from a business sense) She, also would like a piece of him.

Maybe Sam Adams would be a "corner_person" we know Sam is the nonviolent type.

We could again SELL OUT the ROSE GARDEN...I can tell you this city, is ready for a butt-kicking of downtown elected officials, as a bunch of us are tired of ours getting kicked in more ways then one.
