What do you call these?

They are like "guest worker" programs except they don't give amnesty to current criminals.

Visas:
B-1 Business Visitor Visa
B-2 Tourist Visitor Visa
B-1/B-2 Visa Extension
E-1 Treaty Trader Visa
E-2 Treaty Investor Visa
E-3 Visa for Australians
F-1 Student Visa
H-1B Work Visa
H-2B Work Visa
H-3 Trainee Visa
J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa
K-1 Fiancee Visa
L-1 Intracompany Visa
P Visa Athlete/Entertainer
R-1 Religious Visa
TN Nafta Work Visa

Green Cards:
Green Card Lottery
Marriage to U.S. Citizen
Through Adoption
Through Employment
Through Investment
Through Relatives
As a Special Immigrant
Green Card Renewal

With all these ways of coming here legally why do we need an additional program to get people into this country? (with the obligatory layer of government beuracracy)

But Daniel, THINK OF THE CHILDREN

Ok, that's sarcasm

I do, I think of the American ones.

What about all of those Bush cronies who are still looking for jobs? If we don't create new bureaucracies, how are they going to get the jobs to support their families?

Great point, Daniel...there are plenty of ways to come here legally.

So Daniel, would you be open to increasing the quotas on some of these visas? Some of the waiting lists are over a decade long.

Also, I'd love to hear your reasoning behind placing the value of an American child over one from any other country. Call me anti-American, but I just don't see it.

anonymous, if we stopped allowing the millions if illegal immigrants in then yes, we could probably afford to increase the number of legal immigrants.

My reasoning?

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Our government needs to look out for Americans first, that is their mandate by charter and by law.

Amen! Preach it brother!

By the way, for those of you who are constitutionally challenged, Daniel did not make that paragraph up. It is in the US Constitution, which used to actually govern what government did and why.

Look it up.

Isn't it just heartwarming to know that the wealthy can buy Green Cards? The rest of you, get in those long lines over there.
