The 46 Best-ever Freeware Utilities

I use several of these myself.

Yes! Some very good programs there. I like the recommendation of Firefox as a browser best of all. For everyone still using Internet Explorer, there is so much more that Firefox offers. Tabbed browsing so you can view multiple pages within the same browser. Even better for us blog addicts, it has Live Bookmarks. All you have to do is click the bookmark to see if a post has been updated!

Hooray for this list.

Actually, Firefox has been resulting in problems for many users. I've not experienced them, but system lockups are frequently reported.

I've tested firefox, Opera (paid), Slimbrowser, Maxthon. The latter two are simply IE shells, but they're my choices. Sb is pretty cool, with the intuitive interface. Max takes some work, by comparison, but incorporates so many features (built-in RSS, among others)that it slays you, once you get a handle on it.

I've stopped using firefox and Opera. Your mileage may vary.
