Breaking news!

Has anybody heard that Dick Cheney apparently shot someone in a hunting accident? Why isn't this being reported? Has the media come under the control of the military-industrial complex or something?

If you can find a link to this story please send it to me, I need to hear the details.

I guess you have to have your priorities though...

Yeah, I posted about this as it broke, with a *yawn* attitude. It was also in my same post BELOW the fact that Peter Benchley died.

I think the most important thing to remember here, is that this whole deal is a non-story. The only people who should really care, are the guy who got shot, and Cheney's insurance company. Seriously. Who gives a damn. I want to shoot a lawyer too.

I also like how Cheney said "f-you" to the Mainstream Media, and gave the exclusive to FOX. Haha. One reoptorter was digging by trying to ask a ranger how many times per year this sort of thing happens...39. Not quite one a week. Like I said, if you are around firearms long enough, you WILL have an accidental discharge. Of course, this wasn't an accidental discharge, it was an accidental shooting. Which, is not a crime, unless the shootee wants to press charges.

Like I said, this is a dead story that will go nowhere. I am already changing the channel every time this story comes on now, much like the Entwistle murder story. I suggest you do the same.

I like the circulating line: I'd still rather go hunting with Dick Chaney than driving with Ted Kennedy.

If you haven't been peppered, you aren't hunting enough.

Actually, I think that many folks were initially shocked to hear that the veep had shot somebody - accident or not.

Curiously unmentioned in all the media hoopla, however, is the fact that when folks found out he'd shot a lawyer, Cheny's approval ratings rocketed up to 92%.

Too bad it wasn't an ACLU lawyer who he shot.

I think that after retiring from public office in January, 2009 (handing over the keys to the VP mansion to Condi Rice!), Dick Cheney should run for President of the NRA.

The problem with this is Dick Cheney
flunked Political Communication 101, never look like you have anything to hide. If he had come out right away he might have blunted the strength of this story but he didn't and when you let your enemies have a chance to make shit up about you...

He was too busy caring for his friend to worry about the media.

Actually, the reason it took a whole 2 days to air, is this: It is nobody's business execpt the two people involved, AND, they wanted to make sure that the story was reported accurately, so they took their time in reporting the whole story.

I did hear something interesting just now. A thought that perhaps the reason behind the media making such a big issue out of this otherwise non-story, is to take heat off of Algore for his stunt in Saudi. Interesting thought.
