What has Oregon created?

Taking effect on January 1, 2006 our genuises in the legislature have made some changes to Oregon's "medical" marijuana law. Some highlights:

Patients or Caregivers may store up to 24 ounces of useable marijuana at the patient's growsite or residence, or any combination of the two locations not exceeding 24 ounces.

Patients may possess up to 24 ounces of marijuana away from their growsite or home.

Patients and Caregivers may reimburse the person responsible for a marijuana grow site for the costs of supplies and utilities associated with the production of marijuana for the registry identification cardholder. No other costs associated with the production of marijuana for the registry identification cardholder, including the cost of labor, may be reimbursed.

So "patients" may grow more pot, possess more pot, and even pay someone to grow their pot. (but not pay for the pot) I think that they rely on the "honor system" for that last rule.

So what kind of people are we helping with these wonderful new rules? Read from Oregon's leading marijuana reform site:

At Oregon NORML, we are leading the fight for commonsense regulation of the most useful plant ever known to mankind -- cannabis hemp.
Even more useful than trees!!

Most importantly, we work to reform state and federal laws regarding marijuana and bring an end to the harassment, arrest, and imprisonment of responsible taxpaying American citizens.
Last time I checked you couldn't be arrested, harassed, or imprisoned for being a responsible taxpaying American citizen. Those things could happen if you broke the law though.

There are quite a few pages on this site that are "under construction." I'm assuming that construction will resume right after Spongebob is over and the cheetos have run out.

From the 2005 "Million Marijuana March"

NOTE: While not actually getting a million people to turn out the organizers would like you to keep in mind that since the march was held in the early afternoon many of the would be participants were still sleeping but supported the march "in principle."
