Holland's Euthanasia Law
Specifically allows euthanasia for incompetent patients. Persons 16 years old and older can make an advance "written statement containing a request for termination of life" which the physician may carry out. [Chapter II, Article 2, 2.] The written statement need not be made in conjunction with any particular medical condition.
Teenagers 16 to 18 years old may request and receive euthanasia or assisted suicide. A parent or guardian must "have been involved in decision process," but need not agree or approve.
Children 12 to 16 years old may request and receive euthanasia or assisted suicide. A parent or guardian must "agree with the termination of life or the assisted suicide."
It starts as something voluntary, it moves to a coerced situation when people don't want to burden their families, it move to and even more coerced/forced situation when the state doesn't want to be burdered, soon the "undesirables" are being killed in droves.
Kids who had a bad day at school or a fight with their parents can receive suicide assistance from the state. Life will be devalued.
Thanks Oregon.

If Oregonians have a right to assisted suicide, then we need to put suicide booths in State prisons.
Maybe even in trendy coffee shops, and left leaning college campuses as well.
Hey, if we would allow Post Birth Abortion there wouldn't be this argument.
Its only a matter of time!

Post Natal Abortion example: Melissa Drexler.

...?
It's not very difficult to kill yourself. Consider the number of people who perform this feat unintentially.
I do not believe the rate of suicide attempts would be lifted a single percent even if euthanasia were available OTC. First, people, in general, simply have no interest in dying. And on the other side, if a person is consciously committed to killing himself, it's simply not possible to stop him short of a deliberate spinal injury and a constant IV drip.
The law explicitly applies to citizens who "request and receive," a fundamental requirement that makes your paranoia sound a bit silly, not unlike those who believe legalizing civil homosexual unions would be the start of a domino effect that would enable me to propose to a porpoise.
Can we start up a MANDATORY suicide program?
Chocolate Ray Nagin could be the test subect. After all, he must be coo coo for cocoa puffs.
I gotta be honest, if people want to off themselves, be my guest. Need a pistol? Try one of mine ( I could spare a few) I do not think that any tax dollars should go to development, implementation, research, counseling, or disposal.
I have heard stories from some people in the emergency medical field about people who have committed suicide by taking so much blood thinners that they bled out through their pores and stuff. Yuck.
Crossing the border illegally should be another candidacy for Mandatory suicide.
Death With Dignity Village, perhaps?
