Homeland In-security

Tex. Senator Shown Evidence of Arab Personal Effects at Mexican Border
Sen. John Cornyn (R.-Tex.), chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Citizenship, told HUMAN EVENTS he has seen anecdotal evidence of Arabic belongings--including juice boxes with Arabic writing and an image of a plane hitting a building--that were discovered in Larado, Tex., near the Mexican border.

Human Events has an interview with Cornyn about the practicers of The Religion of Peace coming across the Mexican border.

It's not enough that we have to worry about the guys who want to take our jobs, rape our daughters, and sell drugs in our neighborhoods. Now we have to worry about hearing "praise allah" right before we get blown up.

daniel -- you're a racist pig.

Oh ok. Care to elaborate?

Was probably referring to the idea that even a majority of Mexicans are wandering across the border in search of daughters to rape. But I'm just guessing, it's a bit late.

Do I really need to post the DOC numbers on rapists/child molestors with ICE/INS holds again?

Sorry, but even letting one illegal alien rapist into this country is too many for me. And we have certainly let in more than one.

And we'll completely seal off an 8500-mile border how?

I love how people pull the "racist" thing out when this topic comes up. Is it racist to want our government to enforce our laws? Is it racist to want all people to come to our country in an equal way (through legalizattion)? Is it racist to state a fact about a crime statistic, which happens to be focused on a particular group of people (in this case, people who by their very nature of being here are violating laws)?

Here is an interesting tidbit... See if it sounds racist. If an American citizen tried to illegally enter Mexico and was aprehended, they would be immediately deported. (most likely after being robbed by the police, and maybe even beaten.) It is illegal for any person who is not a Mexican citizen to own property in Mexico. Mexico will only allow people to immigrate who have a useable (and specifically technical) career capability to immigrate.

Mexico's number two source of revenue is incoming U.S. Dollars sent back by illegal aliens.

The majority of people ILLEGALLY INVADING our country have less than a high school education, and most of them have some form of criminal record.

So, as I see it, Mexico is exporting its unwanted citizens, and importing U.S. dollars.

Does that make me a racist?

Next tidbit: More than 40% of the soviet block's old nations nuclear arsenal is unaccounted for. Most terrorist groups are actively seeking nuclear weapons in portable form. Groupo Facto, a Mexican goverment agency will aide anyone leaving Mexico, across the border. They give them shelter, food, and water in the desert. they take them to the safest area at that time to pass, give them detailed maps on how to get across, and provide them with documents on how to blend in, and where the best places to get assistance are when they get here.

How hard would it be for anyone who wanted to smuggle a weapon into our borders using this agency?

You know what? If demanding that my government enforce the laws set in place to protect us from evil doers, and asking that everyone who comes here takes the proper steps to gain citizenship makes me a racist, I guess it is a title I will proudly wear.

As far as me hating anyone based on where they come from or what they look like, or the fact that the nation they are fleeing sucks goes, that couldnt be farther from the truth. The only people I truly hate, are people who anonymously post insults to my friends. So man up, telephone tough guy, and get your head out of your ass.

Wow, that anon chicken remindes me of ALL the discussions that I have had with the libs in this country. After I mention a point similar to what you brought up, I get labled a racist and then they think that they have one the argument. They really suck at debating facts. OOPS, forgot that they like to invent facts and not go after the real ones.

Rick -- have you "one" a lot of arguments against liberals. Interesting post after gunslinger's hysterical list of half-truths and untruths, such as:

"The majority of people ILLEGALLY INVADING our country have less than a high school education, and most of them have some form of criminal record."

The first part of this sentence is true. Most Mexicans don't get very far past the eight grade, because in Mexico there is no free public education beyond that age. I have my doubts about the second half of this sentence. Gunslinger, where did you obtain this information?

By the way, how can an American citizen "illegally" enter Mexico? One just shows identification, and strolls right in. And, I have friends who own land in Mexico.

But okay, I'll back off the "racist pig" sentiments, and I apologize if I offended you, Daniel. I guess I'm as trigger happy with the keyboard when I read incendiary rhetoric such as your post as certain patrons of this website are with a gun and a Mexican in their crosshairs.

What I don't understand is why you undertake the conversation in this manner. If I were an Atkinson political opponent of any stripe I would just launch an ad showing your endorsement of his campaign and then some of the stuff that is passed off as "discussion" and "debate" here.

I get a strong sense that there are ulterior motives here. Immigration just serves as the issue du jour for liberal-hating, even though immigration is a truly non-partisan issue, probably one of the only ones in contemporary American politics.

When confronted with questions, little in the way of realistic solutions or answers are proposed. People say, deport all undocumented and build a wall across the border. Really? How? Do you realize the magnitude of this in terms of cost and man-power? People say beef up border patrol, as if it hasn't been done repeatedly since the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. We now pay more per undocumented apprehension than we did before that act and before such operations as Blockade in El Paso and Gatekeeper in Tijuana in 1993 and 1994.

You say, enforce the current laws. Well, it's quite obvious that the current immigration laws are insufficient to meet labor demand in this country. When confronted with this, you say, oh, the market is a wonderful thing, it will adjust. Funny that industrial capitalists don't have the same faith as you.

When confronted with the realities of global capitalism and economic integration through trade agreements, and the inclination of capitalism to ignore national sovereignty and borders and to increase the smooth flow of goods and labor across borders, you say, you believe in American capitalism and national sovereignty, whatever that means. Capitalism cares nothing for what you "believe". A capitalism contained within the nation's borders is no longer possible. The capitalist culture, including its official language -- English -- is so globally diffused there's no way in hell one is going to undo that (capitalism seeks markets) unless we elect Kim Jong il as president.

So, I get the sense that it's not really illegal immigration that's behind all your rage and ugly rhetoric, but something deeper. An example is that you seem hell bent on showing that illegal immigrants are disproportionate criminal offenders. I recently saw evidence to the contrary, and since that was published in a scholarly journal, I'll believe that author over you. Further, this "they're going to rape our daughters" line is, historically speaking, a constant in American racist rhetoric (this is not me calling you a racist, this is me pointing out a historical trend). It was employed by racists in the Jim Crow south opposed to integration of schools and public spaces, it was employed by whites in the suburbs of northern industrial cities during the 1950s and 1960s trying to keep blacks from moving into their neighborhoods. And now it's being employed by you, albeit in a more subtle, post-civil rights, i'm-not-a-racist-but...way.

Anon,

I don't see why you feel the need to hide, but whatever.

"Immigration just serves as the issue du jour for liberal-hating, even though immigration is a truly non-partisan issue, probably one of the only ones in contemporary American politics."

I agree with the last part of your sentence, but note that most folks who support the current "anything goes" state of our borders tend to identify themselves with liberal stances. At the same time, I note that our current President, who claims to be a "compassionate conservative" hasn't done doodle to affect the situation. So I don't think I can agree with your view that antipathy toward illegal aliens is simply a platform for liberal-bashing, per se - liberals just seem to be more open in the support of the status quo.

"You say, enforce the current laws. Well, it's quite obvious that the current immigration laws are insufficient to meet labor demand in this country."

Again, I disagree. What we are asking for is that the state agencies stop enabling such illegal behavior. Oregon has no business issuing driver licenses to illegal aliens, for example, yet they do so with impunity.

"The capitalist culture, including its official language -- English -- is so globally diffused there's no way in hell one is going to undo that (capitalism seeks markets) unless we elect Kim Jong il as president."

Ummm...don't know about you, but around here, it looks to me like the official language is well on its way to becoming Spanish.

A bookmark that the librarian inserted in one of my checkouts is printed in Spanish on one side. At the zoo, the little talking boxes in front of various exhibits are in English and Spanish.

You can find examples everywhere.

I wouldn't mind it so much if they had the same examples in Korean, Vietnamese, French, and British (Brits spell things so humourously!) But they don't.

Now, why is this? Might it be because most of our immigrants speak Spanish?

But if you look at the legal immigrants, a large percentage are from Southeast Asia. They don't speak Spanish.

Anon, I'm going to begin by pointing you to this list I got from the Oregon department of corrections. It's the complete list of inmates with an INS/ICE hold.

INS detainer list

If you're not speechless by the end of that list then I'm not sure what to tell you.

As for owning property in Mexico:

"CAN FOREIGNERS REALLY OWN PROPERTY IN MEXICO?
Yes, Americans and other foreigners may obtain direct ownership of property in the interior of Mexico. However, under Mexican law, foreigners cannot own property outright within the restricted zone. Instead, a real estate trust must be set up to hold title for the foreigner. Since foreigners are not able to enter into contracts in buy real estate, they must have a bank act on their behalf, much as a trust is use to hold property for minors because they also can not contract."

So they aren't exactly building any migrant housing projects for Americans. Gunslinger wins that one.

As for offending me, after I finished crying and contemplating suicide I found a phone number to a depression hotline and the person on the other end was able to talk me through the ordeal of being called a racist... for the 3 millionth time.

Obviously I don't speak for Atkinson. He does not endorse my website. I happen to think that he is the best man for governor but that's about it.

As for my "rage" being about something other than illegal aliens and coming from "something deeper," yes, when I was a child my goldfish never hugged me, never told me he loved me and was an alcoholic. I've never gotten over that childhood trauma and though counseling I have come to realize that I lash out at things that swim... like Mexicans across the Rio Grande.

Also, if you would care to site that "scholarly journal" that says that criminals are not in fact, criminals, then I will gladly refute them. What the heck, I'll do it now.

Someone comes to this country illegaly (crime #1) and then gets a job (crime #2) and to get that job commits perjury of form I-9 (crime #3). They then commit ID theft and perjury filling out their W-2. (crime #4)

Wow, and that's the "hardworking" ones!

You see anon, illegal aliens can't function in this society without commiting further crimes. I do believe that they disproportionaly commit rapes, DUI's, PCS, DCS, etc but even if they take the "legal route" they are still breaking laws. And laws mean something.

And if our ecomony can't function without illegal aliens then our country should cease to exist. (I have more faith in America than that but I'll bottom line it to keep things simple)

I enjoy talking to you, please sign with a first name or nickname so that I can identify you in future comments.

I saw the pres of weneedafence.com on fox news the other night. He said it would cost roughly $2000 a mile for a fence. It would be ditches, three fences, a road, three more fences, and another ditch. He did say, that there would be more than 200 ports of entry. It wouldn't be sealed up, but it would be controlled. (or at least controllable.)

I wonder if they could have privat citizens donate money to purchase a mile or two of fence. You could maybe have your name on it or something.

Either way, I agree with C.P. build a wall, and make it uncomfortable to live here for people who aren't supposed to be here.
