New Ann Coulter column

Murtha Proves It: Republican Party Is Non-Functional
When Democratic Rep. John Murtha called for the withdrawal of American troops in the middle of the war, Republicans immediately leapt to action by calling Murtha a war hero, a patriot and a great American.

What is this? Special Olympics for the Democrats? Can't Republicans disagree with a Democrat who demands that the U.S. surrender in the middle of a war without erecting monuments to him first? What would happen if a Democrat were to propose restoring Saddam Hussein to power? Is that Medal of Freedom territory?

No one is more adept at revealing the dysfunctions of the Republican party than Coulter.

Um.

No.

They immediately leapt to action equating Murtha with a corwardly, hypocricitcal Michael Moore before realizing that he is, in fact, a war hero, patriot and great American, and that this "McCarthyism" wasn't going to work anymore.

Kaelri, did you read the whole column? Coulter adressed that issue. (I agree with the 'cowards cut and run' comment anyway) And she provided many more examples of other public officials who have sang his praises. Please read the whole thing.

And anon, I'm not sure what your point is...

No, didn't read the article. I have finite free time and I'm loath to give it to Ann Coulter. But since you asked...

"Can't Republicans disagree with a Democrat who demands that the U.S. surrender in the middle of a war without erecting monuments to him first?"

They can and do. Republicans, it turns out, have a lot more respect for their opposition than their constituents. Murtha's history and character are, in fact, pretty much above reproach, not to mention that he's been every Republican's favorite Democrat when it comes to harnessing support for the war. His coming out so strongly against it now is scaring the hell out of the administration; they can't send Karl Rove after the man, all they can do is find unusually-polite ways of saying "he's completely wrong"; and the trap they face there is that it has actually sparked a debate on the issue, which is exactly what they don't want. No-win scenario, I'm afraid.

I don't feel the absurd narrow-minded propaganda of the rest of the article merits any form of intelligent discussion, but I'll give it upon request...

Hey kaelri,
stay tuned for more on the Murtha debate. I think you'll be eating crow about him being a above reproach.
I'll keep checking back for your apology.
PS- I love Ann Coulter!

Is there something to make you spontaneously assume that there's something wrong with anyone who disagrees with you?

Ann Coulter is another person who thinks everyone should think like she does....and thinks its a "sin" if you disagree with her.
