More coverage

Immigrant rally set for Woodburn
PCUN (Pineros y campesinos unidos del noroeste) members, allies and community members will hold a pro-immigrant support action when the Mexican Consulate comes to Woodburn Saturday.

According to PCUN, immigrant communities around Oregon have faced intimidation and harassment by the anti-immigrant group Oregonians for Immigration Reform, who has followed the Mexican Consulate around the state to protest issuance of Matricula cards — a card which is necessary identification for a Mexican national to be able to return home.

I am seeing a lot of coverage from the PCUN point of view and not a lot of coverage from the OFIR point of view. Rest assured, they can ignore us in the media but they won't be able to ignore us on Saturday!

The criminal aliens aren't the victims! American citizens are!

And I would highly recommend that you start ignoring the mainstream press. Please cancel your subscriptions and tell them it's over their coverage of illegal alien issues.

The major media establishment is losing subscribers and viewers by the droves and with it they are losing advertising income and all of that a result of their delivering a poor quality product.

Today, most newspapers needn't be kept hours before becoming trash, as they are garbage when delivered.

And, I am pleased to confirm the www along with the blogsphere are providing the evidence that is proving their failings.

Save a tree, read the web.

They aren't immigrants, and there really is a difference.

"immigration law violators are not immigrants . They are aliens who are in the United States in violation of law. There is a profound difference between individuals who legally apply for admission and fulfill all the requirements for admission, and those who decide to enter the United States, or intentionally overstay their visa in violation of law. Labeling such violators as intending immigrants only confuses the issue and juxtaposing these two categories is specious logic."

I hope to be there on Saturday. Lets pray for sun! I called the dept. in Salem that coordinates the "Carousel Of Information" and the menu is in all Spanish.

When I talked to a person in the communications department of the agency that puts this all together, she said that the "multicultural outreach" or whatever they call the waste of taxpayers money is for all cultures, not just illegal Mexicans (OK, she didn't say illegal), but I explained to her that the outgoing message and menu is in Spanish. She did not have an answer to this.

I still have yet to receive a phone call back from the department head who oversees this crap. I left him a long, detailed message explaining why I was upset that taxpayers money was going to help assist and give services to people obviously in this country illegally.

I would like to address this one... people should worry about themselves, I agree, however when these people come over here illegally, they are not only draining our infrastructure financially, they are taking away our jobs, our culture and our language.
oh yes, they are breaking federal immigration laws by being here. minor detail.

Americans are being turned away from employment because they do not speak Spanish and the ones that do, get a 5% bonus from the State of Oregon.

"They do the jobs that Americans don't want, like working in the fields."

I'm so tired hearing this one.

1. child labor laws prevents our children from working in the fields to make extra money which helps the farmers as well. I think it is a stupid law, I picked strawberries, beans, cut rhubarb when I was growing up.
besides, if I cannot find a job I have no problem in working in the fields for minimum wage to feed my family.

2. they are doing more than just working in the fields now, they are working in construction, government jobs, etc..

Lastly, I have a question about the matricula card itself... " a card which is necessary identification for a Mexican national to be able to return home.
wouldn't it make more sense for them to receive the card before they leave Mexico so that they could return home?

As opposed to posting piss-ant comments directly attacking people, rather than actually saying anything real. At least leave a name anon, made up or not, so we can tell when you post things elsewhere. Not that you need to, I guess, as your comments are pathetic and empty.

Your article repeated something that apparently one paper in Corvallis is saying, which is that Mexican illegal aliens in the United States need the Matricula Consular to get back into Mexico.

That's not true. The Matricula has no value in Mexico; it's not usable for voting, or even for identification at a Mexican bank. Prior to a few years ago, it had one purpose only: to identify an individual to the Mexican Consulate in a foreign country. Thus the name Matricula Consular.

It was only when 9/11 happened that the Mexican government decided they had to act fast. So they came up with a Mexican solution....if they ain't got no documents, we'll give them some!

And so they did. And then the Consular officiales fanned out to all the county and state government offices in the U.S. to agitate for acceptance of the card. And, knowing the weakness of their enemy, they got the cooperation they wanted. Now, all over the U.S., city councils, county supervisors, and even state legislatures have voted to "accept" the MC as "identification" and have ordered police to comply with that. In other words, it's a get out of jail free card. In the U.S. illegally? Don't worry - the Mexican government has fixed it with the weakling gringos so that you won't be hassled.

And it has nothing to do with getting back into Mexico.
