Why they need to keep the kicker

State or Oregon is currently hiring for...

Bicycle Recreation Coordinator
$2,717 - $3,772 MONTHLY
(+benefits)

Serves as the Oregon Bicycle Recreation Coordinator by:

communicating regularly and effectively to key state decision-makers, the role of bicycle recreation in economic development and citizen health. Determines the condition of bicycle recreation in Oregon; identifies opportunities for recreational bicycle development based on the Oregon Recreation Trails Plan.

Works with others to promote Oregon as a bicycle tourism destination.

Kulongoski needs your kicker. Without those much needed funds who will "determine the condition of bicycle recreation in Oregon?" When we are talking about essential government services, this is what we mean.

Kulongoski needs you to dig a little deeper in your pocket to help make this happen.

There is no way you can work an honest forty hours at this job, unless that includes cycling to back up your data.

That job pays more than mine does... and mine is at least technical.

Wait till somebody gets caught inflating a bike tire without a State license.

Amazing - if nothing else, this job posting shows what misplaced priorities this state has. I wonder if anyone else is aware that ODOT is spending 5 million dollars on a bicycle overpass on McLoughlin Blvd. in Portland. And people wonder why they never seem to have any funds for roads in this sorry state.

I believe Emilie Boyles'daughter is looking for a summer job. Perhaps?

I don't own a bike. Can I apply anyway? The taxpayers can pay for that too.

It is now official…the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department has way too much money! They want to pay some bozo up to $45K a year (plus benefits) for something like this! Everyone should be outraged. Contact your State Senators and Representatives and tell them “NO MORE!”. The only reason the State has a surplus is that tax rates are way too high and they have confiscated too much money from the taxpayers.

Where is your concern for the condition of bicycle recreation in Oregon? Who will study it if not this state employee? Who, I ask?

NOTE: Notice that this employee just "studies" the condition, it will take another PERS recipient to issue an actual report then an entire comittee, whose members will be appointed based on their qualifications such as "my brother did you a political favor", to analyze the report.

The position will likely save far more money than it costs, in reduced pollution and lower health care outlays for healthier residents.
