Why are families leaving Portland?

Nude Cyclists Bare All During Rose Festival
At first I thought this was simply the late night hijinks of Critical Mass. Now I see that it is World Naked Bike Ride 2006 and is part of a bigger, world wide, trend centered around raising awareness about oil dependency, car culture, and bicycle safety on the third dirt clod from the sun. This all happened right around midnight and smack-dab in the middle of Portland's Rose Festival.

Uhhh, Indymedia has the story. Go there. And you wonder why families are fleeing Portland by droves. Little Holland on the Willamette.

Isn't one of these going on, somewhere, nearly all the time?

Not in my town!

Also, cram down, or more politely, infil. People want a yard for their children to play in. Cost, starter homes are too expensive for starter families.

The schools are so bad that Phillips had to step in to severely limit the number of kids allowed to transfer. Crime is out of control, and Burdick wants to let more violent felons go. The new county jail sits empty because the lefties won't fund it. The idiot Potter panders to terrorists, and illegals, and every other group of perverts. What parents in their right minds would even entertain the thought of living or staying there?

If all the "families" (and I'll take that as conservative families) are leaving because of nude cyclists, maybe we need to petition Mayor Potter to make it a weekly happening. I would definately like to see ALL the conservative families leave Portland.

There you go, I hope the last comment was a joke. If not, no wonder Portland is losing families.
Sorry to break it to you previous commenter, but most married with children are center-right or conservative. There just might be a correlation between Portland's liberal-"I don't care how the money is spent"- attitude and its lack of families, declining enrollment, and lack of money for schools. But I guess thats too much common sense for liberals that call themselves "progressives."

Even Sam "the sham" Adams knows the middle class and their kids are a vital part of society. Ask him yourself.

I read the coverage on Mexico. There, apparently, bicyclists do not ride as the cars/trucks have a tendency to run them down.

Hmmm.

We must want that behavior here - if we didnt' then we wouldn't make it so comfortable for them.
