But I don't LIKE you
I hate election time. It's that horrible time when Democrats make me actually want to support Republicans I can't stand.
The NRA sent me a Gordon Smith bumper sticker yesterday and I've actually considered slapping it on my car! Any other time of year I can't stand Gordon Smith.
But when I get out of my emotional fervor where I start listing all the reasons why Smith does not deserve my vote let alone my support and I think about the election in practical terms:
Smith is our only statewide elected Republican
Smith will at least support our judges
Smith may not be an R but he does count towards which party has the majority
Smith may have voted for amnesty but he has turned around (sort of) and Merkley will vote for amnesty and then give our new guests welfare
At least Smith won't vote to take my guns
Not a ringing endorsement but just like Obama makes McCain look palatable, Merkley is making Smith look like a bargain for Oregon. After the election I can go back to disliking him for another 5 1/2 years.

Most of the CAUSAnuts can't speak a lick of English which just makes it that much funnier when they write letters to the editor trying to use big words to justify lawbreaking.

Speaking as an "extremist" I am not only "less" about enacting "meaningful" immigration reform and more about enforcing the law. I know that is complicated.

I realize that this might be very different than in Mexico. There you break a law and you have the "complicated issue" of how much to bribe the law enforcement officer (there probably should be air quotes around that one) or how to breathe while lying in a puddle of your own blood.

Back to school, back to Mexico and back to school again
Are you an illegal alien student who travels between Oregon and Mexico with great frequency?

39 percent raise proposed for Ore. Governor
Many of Oregon’s public servants will get huge raises next year if a commission tasked with examining their pay gets its way.
The Oregon Public Official’s Compensation Commission recommends raises ranging from 22 to 54 percent.
It calls for raises of 39-percent for the Secretary of State, the Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Labor Commissioner.
I love the campaign commercials that compare how much we spend in Iraq (you know, that place we fight the terrorists so we can have seven years of no attacks on American soil) to how much healthcare/groceries it could buy a "working family."
How about how many bags of groceries could a working family buy with the raise money going to the our benefactors in state government?

Officials say a Mexican drug cartel turned remote patches of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation into vast marijuana plantations the past two growing seasons.
Two Mexicans suspected of tending nearly 7,000 plants were arraigned Thursday in U.S. District Court in Portland.
I'm hoping that Oregon's nursery industry helps pay for these illegal aliens defense because they obviously have good experience tending to plants.

Tom Wenning calls himself a liberal and says he disagrees with conservative commentator Lars Larson on just about every issue.
Except one.
Several times a week, Wenning stages a one-man protest outside Portland's taxpayer-sponsored day laborer hiring center. He opposes illegal immigration, and thinks the city is promoting it by giving day laborers, many of them undocumented workers, a place to seek work.

A novel idea
Oregon should help employers follow the law
Brad Avakian, the new commissioner of Oregon's Bureau of Labor and Industries, has a sensible idea: Help employers follow the law before they run afoul of it.
After all, state and federal labor laws cover myriad details, such as what questions prospective employers can ask, how workers must be paid and when it's legal to fire them.
Employers who break the law risk fines of $1,000 or more. If workers go to court and win, the cost of misunderstanding labor law can be heavy indeed.
Noticeabley lacking: how to avoid hiring illegal aliens who are not eligible to work. I sure would like to see more workplace whistleblowers with regards to illegal labor practices that hurt American workers.

Knocking down the doors of the undocumented

A minority hiring program that was criticized last year for providing special treatment to racially diverse faculty is now under federal investigation.
Since August, the United States Department of Justice has been investigating whether the Underrepresented Minority Recruitment Program is in violation of Title Seven of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which prohibits employers from discriminating against an individual on the basis of race.
The University of Oregon is using your tax dollars to violate the civil rights act. The openly discriminate on the basis of race. They pay employees different salaries based on race. And when they get called on it the whining about diversity starts.

Support American auto workers... buy a Honda?
There was a lot of "our jobs are going overseas" stuff from the Obama rally last night. An autoworker actually said that it started with Bush.
It starts with the consumer. How many Toyota Prius' were in the parking lot of that DNC event? Insisting that you want a product to thrive for the purpose of creating jobs and then buying a competing product is insanity.
Obama can't make you buy a GM vehicle and he didn't ask you to. Some unexplained method was going to be used to "keep jobs from going overseas." If you are worried about jobs at Burger King then stop eating at the McDonalds next door.
But while I'm on the subject, how about the workers who lose their jobs to illegal aliens? How about the firearm manufacturers who Obama would like to put out of bussiness with lawsuits? What about Kahr and Kel-Tec who make handguns for concealed carry that he would like to outlaw? What about StagArms which makes AR-15 rifles that he would like to ban?
Would those workers be featured at the next Repulican convention in four years?

The RNC Meets to Draft Their Platform: Sparks Fly on the Issue of Illegal Immigration
All eyes may be on Denver this week, but the Republican National Committee began their meetings to draft an election platform today ahead of next week’s convention. Sparks flew when delegates got into debate over illegal immigration, which reflected where John McCain originally stood on the issue, but has now taken a more conservative stance.
Two delegates wanted to harden the language surrounding the issue of amnesty. The draft read, “We oppose amnesty.” But, delegates from North Carolina and Colorado wanted to include opposition to “comprehensive immigration reform” because they believe it is a code word for amnesty. This sparked a heated discussion between members with a delegate from Washington DC who said that the Republican Party is a “not a xenophobic party, not an intolerant party. We are a compassionate party that follows the rule of law and endorses federal law,” said Bud McFarlane.
This is what happens to Republicans when they let democrats define us. The spineless among us start to use the dems lingo ("intolerant") and use it when they don't have a logical argument.

Groups forms to give Paris Hilton publicity
Group finds voice for gay law students on campus
A group of law students focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal issues will offer law students the first ever diversity-based moot court competition on campus this year, along with a host of other services.
"Really the purpose (of Outlaws) is to encourage diversity understanding within the school population and encourage awareness," Farrell said.
When Outlaws recently asked the ASUO for money to attend the conference and organize the moot court competition, the groups' proposal said the events were needed to compensate for a lack of gay-friendly programs at the law school.

A group of law students focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal issues will offer law students the first ever diversity-based moot court competition on campus this year, along with a host of other services.
"Really the purpose (of Outlaws) is to encourage diversity understanding within the school population and encourage awareness," Farrell said.
When Outlaws recently asked the ASUO for money to attend the conference and organize the moot court competition, the groups' proposal said the events were needed to compensate for a lack of gay-friendly programs at the law school.

A man charged with blocking the entrance to Portland's new day labor center in a one-man protest was convicted Monday of disorderly conduct.
Tom Wenning wanted his day in court to make a point that the city of Portland is subsidizing illegal activity with its day labor center.
The hiring site, located at the corner of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Everett Street, opened in June thanks to a $200,000 grant from the city.
Libspeak translation: "Grant from the city" = "your tax dollars"

You know we are approaching election time because democrats are prattling on about "working families" and running commercials showing the nice suburban house with the picket fence.

It's Saturday, I've done my chores, can I have my allowance Ted?
It's a discouraging that while preparing for the upcoming hunting season I run into the "Wildlife and Habitat Adaptation Sub-committee of the Oregon Global Warming Commission" on the ODFW website.
I take a quick break from learning what Daddy Government sets forth in terms of new bird regulations this year to see how many Sub-Committees there are in the Global Warming Commission.
It appears that the Oregon Department of Energy is now a giant "let's not use any energy" department think tank.
Their mission, as tasked by Ted, is to among other things "examine the feasibility of, and develop a design for, a load-based carbon allowance standard for Oregon."
Now I'm wondering if having my computer on all day is going to exceed the energy allowance that Daddy Government gives to me...

So USA Today finds broken speed limits and drunk biking to be laudible.
Along with the MAX trains that whisk visitors from airport to downtown in 40 minutes, a sleek, tourist-friendly spoke of Portland's public transportation system is its expanding network of streetcars. Launched in 2001, the Czech-made cars run every 12-15 minutes and cost $1.75 to ride all day. They link downtown with such neighborhoods as Northwest/Nob Hill, home to a gaggle of high-end emporiums and restaurants, and newly developed South Waterfront, where a $4 aerial tram ride delivers million-dollar views of the Willamette (rhymes with "dam it") River, Mount Hood, and the downtown skyline.
It's an Orwellian descritption of travel in Portland. How far did this reporter have to drive to find their "hip" couple, presumably with no luggage or children, who don't need a car when visiting Portland?
And seriously, how many times can you describe something as "hip" in a single article? I think it would be "hip" if we simply gave Portland to Cuba.

Governor Encourages State Contracting with Minority and Women Owned Businesses
Governor Kulongoski today announced he sent a letter to state agencies accompanying Executive Order 08-16, directing agencies to adopt aspirational targets to increase opportunities for minority and women owned businesses that are competing for state contracts. The executive order identifies agencies that have contracting needs that are a good match with existing certified minority and women owned businesses.
The executive order also creates a new Promoting Diversity Certificate of Excellence program to recognize outstanding efforts by agencies to include minority and women owned businesses in their contracting efforts.
A normal person who looks at this would have to conclude that Kulongoski thinks minority and women owned businesses are inferior. Either that or he just has a racial and gender preference.

The number of Spanish-speaking people taking Oregon’s driving test plummeted in February, just as Gov. Kulongoski’s executive order took effect requiring test-takers to provide valid Social Security numbers.
State officials can’t think of any other reason to explain the pattern besides the governor’s order, said David House, DMV spokesman.
It is August 13 today and the Forest Grove News Times has this breaking story. Old news but I thought I would do a little poke in the eye here for the illegal alien kissers:

UO course takes trip to border for up-close look at immigration
A University class on immigration is spending the week at the United States-Mexico border learning first-hand about the experiences of those who seek to enter the United States both legally and illegally.
The class, founded by education professor Edward Olivos, left for San Diego Saturday for an intensive week of hands-on training with a local non-profit organization devoted to helping Latino immigrants.
Fischer said the 15 students in the class, which began meeting last week for some preliminary discussions, all feel that the borders should be opened.
"We're all pretty like-minded," she said. "We're against regulating immigrations and the new immigration laws. I don't think we should close our borders."
This taxpayer funded illegal alien help class is a prime example of why "higher education" doesn't need more money from the public. If you want to go help criminals break laws that's your business but don't ask us to pay... wait a minute, IT'S NOT YOUR BUSINESS. Society says that you can't help criminals break laws.

My public service to jobless artists

DESCRIPTION
The Regional Arts & Culture Council in Portland, Oregon, invites artists/teams residing in the United States to submit qualifications to create multiple freestanding sculptures for the new Center for the Arts Community Plaza in Gresham, Oregon.
PROJECT BUDGET: The art budget is $175,000 including all related costs for design, fabrication and installation.
Power, water and drainage will be provided to the location of the art. The use of these utilities is at the discretion of the selected artist and should not be viewed as an expectation or requirement.
What makes this public art so special is that with the use of water and power it can waste our taxdollars long into the future.
I'm sure that the citizens of Gresham are very excited to get this sculpture. Maybe they can ride the crime infested MAX to go view it. It's not like that $175,000 could have hired a couple law enforcement officers to actually improve the livability of that city.

Mexican set for Texas execution after appeal denied
The U.S. Supreme Court denied the last-ditch appeal of a Mexican national on Texas' death row late Tuesday, paving the way for him to be executed for a pair of brutal slayings, state corrections officials said.
Get the popcorn because this one will be better than Tookie. This execution is especially important because so many people wanted to stop it. (not just the usual liberal claptrap) Thankfully:
A) We told the world government to take a long walk off a short pier
B) Texas told Bush to hold hands with the world government for the aforementioned walk
C) We told our good friend Mexico to get a piggy-back ride from Bush... again for the same walk
If they weren't both on the campaign trail I have no doubt that both Obama and McCain would appeal for this scumbag. We already know that Bush has.
EDIT: As of 8 minutes ago our country stinks just a little bit less.
Randy Ertman, who lost his daughter in the attack, said Medellin's supporters were misguided.
"Mexico has a big yard down there full of filth and murders and gangs and drug cartels and they're not mentioning anything about that," he said. "There's where they need to start their work."

Oregon home buyers and renters will have an expanded supply of housing as a result of federal legislation signed by President Bush last week.
It's not new home construction that increases the supply of housing, it's the federal government.
Measure 37 new houses = bad
Government new houses = good
Although attention has focused on the bill's much-debated mortgage relief for 400,000 U.S. homeowners and potential financial rescue of the nation's two largest home-mortgage insurers, Oregon's top housing official said the bill also will enable the state and private investors to pay for additional housing.

The private investors simply take tax dollars to finance their housing projects. This worked well with the bun cake shop in Portland.
The state credit is used to leverage bank loans for affordable housing at lower interest rates, typically 4 percentage points below market.
I love when the state is able to "leverage" things.
He said though the federal help is welcome, the state still is providing housing to only a fraction of eligible households.

Save the planet, recycle this blog post
The "going green" fad is getting worse. My only consolation will be how much more foolish it will look in restrospect the more people pile on.
We went to the beach this last week and the hotel we stayed at had "biodegradeable" keycards and signs in the bedrooms and bathrooms indicating that you could choose not to have your sheets and towels washed "to save the planet."
Of course at the local state park they had some "solar powered" exhibits... that didn't work. Not enough power I guess.
At least during the August Recess (I believe that congress is the only group who get more days off than teachers) I don't have to worry about the libtards mandating cold showers, no lights after 8pm and a moratorium on fast food restaurants. At least at the federal level.

Don't shoot, I'm dangerous AND crazy
Officers weigh many factors in use of force
I'm going to stop at the headline. There is only one factor in the use of deadly force: does this person have the means, motive and opportunity to cause me serious injury or death and do I belive that is his intent.
When a Silverton police officer fired five bullets into an unarmed man who was charging toward him and defying orders to get down, he followed the basic premise of deadly police force: he shot to kill.
And this first sentence shows the bias in the media. Instead of saying "when a Sivlerton officer defended himself from and illegal alien who threatended him" they say "unarmed man" who "defied orders."
Gonzalez reportedly fired his gun as he was backing away from Hanlon, who was screaming, kicking and swinging his arms at the officer.
Despite the grand jury's finding of a justified shooting, Hanlon's family remains adamant that deadly force wasn't necessary. As they tell it, Hanlon was agitated on the night of the shooting and possibly in the throes of mental illness.
What does "possibly in the throse of mental illness" even mean? And how does that differ from "possibly in the throes of drug addiction" or "possibly in the throes of a murderous rampage" when an officer (or civillian) is threatened?
We can't ask our police to inquire if suspects who threaten them had a troubled childhood or are feeling a little crazy before making a decision that they think is neccessary to protect their lives.
If you have a family member that is mentally ill perhaps you yourself should make some financial or time sacrifice to get that person some help before you ask a cop to sacrifice his life.

When a Silverton police officer fired five bullets into an unarmed man who was charging toward him and defying orders to get down, he followed the basic premise of deadly police force: he shot to kill.
And this first sentence shows the bias in the media. Instead of saying "when a Sivlerton officer defended himself from and illegal alien who threatended him" they say "unarmed man" who "defied orders."
Gonzalez reportedly fired his gun as he was backing away from Hanlon, who was screaming, kicking and swinging his arms at the officer.
Despite the grand jury's finding of a justified shooting, Hanlon's family remains adamant that deadly force wasn't necessary. As they tell it, Hanlon was agitated on the night of the shooting and possibly in the throes of mental illness.
What does "possibly in the throse of mental illness" even mean? And how does that differ from "possibly in the throes of drug addiction" or "possibly in the throes of a murderous rampage" when an officer (or civillian) is threatened?
We can't ask our police to inquire if suspects who threaten them had a troubled childhood or are feeling a little crazy before making a decision that they think is neccessary to protect their lives.
If you have a family member that is mentally ill perhaps you yourself should make some financial or time sacrifice to get that person some help before you ask a cop to sacrifice his life.

Tax dollars can't find illegal aliens work
Day-labor site falls down on the job
The new city-sponsored day-labor hire site, which opened last month, could already be a failure. Or it could just need more time.
The site – a fenced-in lot at Northeast MLK and Everett Street – now attracts 70 to 80 workers each morning, but only 25 to 30 of them usually are hired by the time it closes at noon. There simply aren’t enough employers driving in, organizers say.
But the sidewalk workers, in essence, are stealing the jobs. Fifteen men stood at the corner of MLK and Northeast Lloyd Boulevard last week, their eyes peeled on the traffic.
“That’s one of the challenges we have, competing with the corners,” he said. “We need to find a way to get them here. We’re talking with the employers and day laborers. But legally we cannot force people to be here.”
You can't legally force them there? Since when are you worried about what's legal? In Portland we have a government that doesn't let a little matter like "legality" get in the way of what they want to do.
Start rounding folks up and force them into the government labor camp. This would be a fitting tribute to the political atmosphere of Portland.

Children witness life-threatening knife attack on their mother
A couple's argument erupted into an attempted murder/suicide Sunday, as a man stabbed his girlfriend in the stomach and then held off deputies before stabbing himself multiple times.
Simon Orozco-Garcia, 28, used a 5- or 6-inch serrated kitchen knife to deliver a life-threatening wound to Maribel Sanchez, 25, said Ginger Alden, the woman's adopted mother.
Orozco-Garcia, already suffering from at least one self-inflicted wound, stabbed himself repeatedly before deputies could hit him with a Taser and take him into custody.
Perhaps the police could have taken a lesson from the "hate any possible use of force" crowd and not used the taser so quickly...
Orozco-Garcia also will face federal immigration charges, said Tim Counts, a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
In December 2007, Orozco-Garcia was convicted in Marion County of fourth-degree assault and strangulation involving a different woman and was sentenced to 60 days in jail, court records show.
Orozco-Garcia was deported from the U.S. on June 25, Counts said.
Why was this man deported when he clearly was in desperate need of a pathway to citizenship? His stabbing behavior is clearly just a result of horrible racist Americans splitting up his family. ("family" involves multiple women victims in this case)

With that being said I sure am glad to see tax dollars being spend to offer a Spanish Only Food Worker Class in Benton county.

Monday night rant
It's been a while since I've gone on a uncensored and discombobulated rant so here it goes:
I enjoy that so many of you hate me. I really do. The thought of hundreds of people waking up every morning to read what I write, scream epithets at their computer and then insult me brings a big smile to my face.
One of my favorite things I read is how you all describe "Miglavia" and I realize that this sounds like a wonderful place to live. Allow me to describe it.
In Miglavia:
1. English is the only language spoken. We don't even allow people in until they are fluent.
2. The "disadvantaged" are told to work twice as hard because "that's life."
3. Minorities are treated... exactly the same as everyone else. Imagine that injustice.
4. No lesbians are allowed to work for DHS or participate in court hearings regarding child custody hearings.
5. Lesbians aren't allowed to vote. (see number 5)
6. Women aren't allowed to vote, however they are allowed to let their husbands vote for them. Obviously lesbians don't have husbands.
7. The second amendment gets treated like we treat the first amendment in America. This results in small machine guns being mounted on top of most commuter vehicles. Road rage does not exist in Miglavia.
8. Abortion is legal and happens often. The term "death penatly" is replaced by the word "abortion."
9. There is a literacy test for voting. The test is: "do you read Daniel's blog?"
10. Wal-Mart becomes the number 1 provider of public education in the Miglavian free market system.
11. Spotted owls will be on the extra value dollar menu.
12. Public art consists of "art done by the public" rather than "art done by people who can't find anyone to buy their crap so the taxpayers have to pay for it."
13. The government of Miglavia will build the infrastructure around the needs and wants of the populace, not what we think will be good for you. Obviously this means everyone will drive a single occupancy vehicle.
14. All cultures will not be equal. Miglavian culture will be treated like the suprior system that it is. We will chuckle while the folks riding mass transit for three hours get to work look down on us.
15. A vegeterian alternative will not be offered.
16. People who cry "racist" every time a Miglavian law is enforced will be jailed.
Please help me with my semi-serious caricature. I want to know what other wonderful attributes Miglavia has to offer and thank you for hating me so much, it means a lot to me and my wife.

Texas still plans to execute killer despite U.N. order
Texas will go ahead with the scheduled Aug. 5 execution of Houston rapist-killer Jose Medellin despite Wednesday's United Nations world court order for a stay, a spokesman for Gov. Rick Perry said.
The UN's International Court of Justice's call for stays in the cases of Medellin and four other Mexican nationals awaiting execution in Texas came in response to a petition filed last month by the Mexican government.
Medellin, 33, was condemned for the 1993 killings of Jennifer Ertman, 14, and Elizabeth Pena, 16, who stumbled into a drunken midnight gang initiation rite at T.C. Jester Park in north Houston.
What really sickens me is that "what happened" according to the Houston Chronicle is that the girls "stumbled into" something. If you have the stomach for it, you can read what these subhuman vermin really did HERE.
I'm glad that, at least in Texas, they still know what soveriegnty is and they are willing to punish these hardworking immigrants who McCain, Bush and Obama would all love to have mowing the lawn of your local middle school.

DMV: dept of marijuana
Dear Libertarians,
I know that some of you have an obsession with drug legalization, especially when it comes to marijuana. Some of you may be thinking of supporting the Oregon Canabis Tax Act ballot initiative. Don't.
Smaller government, lower taxes and more freedom is the libertarian creed. The OCTA violates two of those principles immediately and that's assuming that smoking pot is a "freedom."

"OCTA will raise money for the general fund..."
"...to sell cannabis, one must apply for an OLCCC license and one may only sell to the state liquor stores."
"The OCTA initiative does not designate a percent taxation on pot products, those numbers will fall to state regulation". (WWeek quote)
If there is a libertarian battle to be fought here it's to make the argument that the OLCC should be abolished, not to give them more authority to tax, regulate and sell products.

Without ID theft, Oregon will suffer
Nursery and restaurant lobby say immigration rule could cost Oregon thousands of jobs
The “No Match” rule, created by the Department for Homeland Security, would require employers to electronically verify the status of their workers to determine if their social security number is on record with the Social Security Administration.
In a nutshell: the restraunt and nurery industries say they want people to be able to work using YOUR social security number which causes YOU a bunch of financial problems.
Kathy LeCompte, owner of Brook’s Tree Farm near Salem, said that she has followed the undocumented workforce issue for nearly 15 years and that the proposed federal rule as it stands now, leaves her and other business owners with an unsure future. She doesn’t know if she should expand her business or invest in equipment because she is not sure how long her employees will be around.
Man Kathy, I feel about as sorry for you as I do for the drug dealer who is "not sure if he should expand his territory" because his illegal grow operation could be discovered and burned. Kathy says that her employees are criminals using other people's social security numbers! She admits that she is breaking the law by hiring them! And we are supposed to feel sorry for her as the victim here!

You need to stay away from my children

As near as I can tell I am currently doing this blog "due to high gas prices." When I finish the post it will because because of "soaring gas prices." And the breakfast I am going to eat will happen "despite high gas prices."
Every news outlet looks for the "gas price" angle. Marketing companies have figured out that sheeple are willing to buy a $10,000 product if it gets them $100 in "free gas." And casual conversation around the water cooler seems to have drifted away from the weather and now obsesses over a $0.02 increase per gallon. (that's an extra $0.40 cents on a fill-up if you have a 20 gallon tank, woohoo)
The irony is that the people who seem to complain the most are the same people who:
1. know the least about basic economics
2. spent $1,000 on fireworks
3. are holding a 12 oz Starbucks that cost them $4.50
Please, make them stop.

Men do not have fallopian tubes
I'm starting to think that a good portion of the world's media folks need lessons in basic biology. The nonstop press coverage of the Oregon woman who pretends to be a man having a baby this weekend is getting sickening.
Every news outlet refers to a "man" having a baby. (These are the same "scientists" who insist on global warming by the way)
Here is the story as reported by Daniel:
A incredibly selfish woman, who couldn't care less about the baby she is bringing into the world, has made a media spectacle of herself by pretending she is a man. Obviously if this were a man he wouldn't have the neccessary plumbing to give birth but the transgender supporters are willing to ignore that fact.

Man arrested in Oregon in 13-year-old Newburgh killing
A 36-year-old man is being held in the Orange County Jail in Goshen following his arrest in Oregon and his return to the county.
Jesus Rosas Fuentes is accused of the September 29, 1995 shooting and killing Elpidio Guerrero, 19, in the Washington Heights area of the City of Newburgh. The incident, which is thought to have been a case of mistaken identity, was believed to be gang related.
City Police Lt. Charles Broe said Fuentes was arrested in Oregon last Wednesday by agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and flown to Stewart Airport where he was taken into custody by Newburgh officers.
But it gets better. You know those "raids" that "frighten immigrant families" so much? Well it would appear that Fuentes was detained by ICE during one of those raids and only afterwards was it discovered that he was a suspect in the killing.

I have said repeatedly that I think that the death penalty should be applied in very narrow circumstances for the most egregious of crimes,” Obama said at a news conference. “I think that the rape of a small child, 6 or 8 years old, is a heinous crime and if a state makes a decision that under narrow, limited, well-defined circumstances the death penalty is at least potentially applicable that that does not violate our Constitution.”
That's a condemnation these days? I know it really pained Obama to know that the bitter clingers of America all think that child rapists should be on the fast track for the gas chamber so he had to come out with something.

This should not be considered legal advice
Over the last few days I have heard numerous calls into Lars Larson regarding bullet types for carry weapons that the caller would use to lawfully defend themselves on the MAX. Here's my $0.02 so I can stop screaming at the radio when someone suggests full metal jackets.
I would first point out that the best way to survive MAX violence is DO NOT RIDE THE DARN THING.
Second, every bullet fired, even bullets lawfully fired in defense of yourself and others, has a lawyer attached to it. The prosecutor (hopefully) will decide that you acted legally but that doesn't stop the scumbag lawyers from coming after you in civil court. You DO NOT want to have to shoot someone.
When deciding what hangun ammo to use it's always best to ask the experts: law enforcement. This also relates to point number two I made. If, God forbid, you wind up in court for a lawful shoot it's geat to testify that "I carry Brand X which is what the local PD/Sheriff's office carries in their handguns."
I just realized that this is going to get very long so let me just point you towards a very exhaustive report worth a read.

Hungry for some real parenting
Looking at various government indoctrination camp websites and keep running across their "free" (libspeak: free = taxpayer funded) summer meal programs. It's getting depressing out there.

Beginning June 17th, eleven school sites will be participating in the summer food service program which offers meals at no charge to all children in the community ages 18 years old and younger.
No Special Application is necessary!
No Registration!

You would think that Captain Ism would be a parody that the College Republicans would use to make fun of the PC crowd but no, they are serious.

The whole letter is good for a laugh if you aren't on a college campus. If you are on campus then you probably are very worried about Indianisms.

Another great day for lawlessness
Monday June 16 will mark another great day in Portland for criminals. It's the grand opening of the new criminal worker labor site. Supported by the Portland Police Beaureu and paid for with your tax dollars this wonderful area will provide a safe haven for people to find jobs that they aren't legally allowed to do.
If I didn't have to go to my legal job where I use my own SSN on Monday I would be there to protest.

Saving kids from criminals
Why do we constantly here this nonsense about how arresting criminals is "splitting up families"? Ok, I guess we only here about it in the case of illegal alien identity thieves being arrested.
Why do we not here about it other times? Because we all recognize that kids shouldn't be around their criminal parents. But in the case of criminal aliens everyone likes to pretend that they are just breaking that one silly law that doesn't matter anyway.
Just imagine how a child's perception of law enforcement changes when he finds out that mommy and/or daddy is a criminal alien. Imagine how it can enable the child to learn to justify breaking other laws because after all, mommy and/or daddy do it and the mayor of Portland applauds them.
Imagine the kind of company this child will be around because criminals like to hang out with other criminals. ID theft, rape, drunk driving and drug dealing: it's all ok because we don't want to split up families... as long as you are also an illegal alien.

Toyota hurting the poor

A corportate spokesmouth from Toyota indicated that people seem to want to buy their product and that it's up to consumer choice but a recent survey of the Pearl District found that many consumers felt pressured to use the Prius for transportation.
"I just want to get to my government job" said one PD resident.
Daniel insists that if Toyota and other manufacturers are going to continue to respond to market demands there must be some regulation. "We can't just allow these companies to take advantage of people by producing goods and services that they want, there has to be a reasonable limit" says Daniel.

The poor don't have to save the planet
Low-Income Advocates Support Whitehouse on Climate Change
Legislation proposed by Rhode Island U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse capping carbon emissions can protect low-income Oregonians while fighting global warming, advocates told Oregon's U.S. Senators Gordon Smith and Ron Wyden Thursday in a letter presented prior to a vote on the issue.
Absent adequate protections such as those proposed by the Whitehouse amendment, carbon emissions controls could increase the hardship faced by low-income families, said Sheketoff. He noted that these families typically lack the means to invest in energy conservation measures and energy efficient and cleaner technologies and that higher gasoline, food and other costs that will rise under a carbon cap take a bigger bite out of their incomes, compared to higher-income consumers.
To me, the "global warming" issue is a dumb as the illegal alien issue. Illegal means illegal and since global temperatures aren't going up then we obviously don't have a "global warming" problem. (which is why the terminology has gone to "climate change")
What we have is an outright power grab and a huge tax increase by government in the name of saving the world. But oh wait, our good liberals in congress will make sure that the poor don't share in the burden.

Commute the gubment way
You selfish jerk. I understand that you are taking personal responsibility for getting to work. You are giving the earth a fever. It's time to commute... government style!

Why have personal independence, a nice ride where I can listen to KXL and the lack of smelly bums and trash when I could spend an extra hour a day going to and from work? Plus I could stop showering (I assume that many tri-met riders go for this option) due to the standing in the rain!

Unions: solving the problem of the lazy being unemployed
When Oregon unions flex, candidates win races
Organized labor -- public employee unions in particular -- spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and uncounted volunteer hours on Oregon's May 20 primary elections.
Yet in a recent newsletter to members, AFL-CIO leaders boasted about "the most aggressive pro-union election effort in any Oregon primary election. . . . One hundred percent of our endorsed candidates celebrated victory."
The stand-out example of union influence in the primary was the state attorney general race between Democrats John Kroger, a law professor at Lewis & Clark College, and state Rep. Greg Macpherson of Lake Oswego. SEIU contributed $317,371 to Kroger's campaign -- more than one of every three dollars he raised.
The OEA, which represents teachers, kicked in $50,000.
When government is the biggest employer in the state and all these workers are supporting Big Union (said in an ominous tone) with their dues it's no wonder that they call the shots.
Private companies learned long ago, as did the workers, that when Big Union comes in, finacial solvency goes out.
I know they love to talk about "working families" and the "middle class" but where do you suppose that these "working families" prefer to do their grocery shopping: the store with the union or the one with the cheaper groceries?
