Why I'm becoming a Republican
All right, that tears it — I’m becoming a Republican.
It’s been a long time coming and I have a lot of reasons. The straw that broke the camel's back, however, was the Supreme Court vacancy announced last week...
A well written piece in the Daily Emerald of all places. It makes me smile that it's not just me, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter who are pulling our hair out over the fact that even though the Democrats lost the last two elections they still think they get to have a say in picking judges, it's regular on-the-fence guys who see the ridiculousness of it all!
Read the column then drop the writer, Gabe, an email welcoming him to the Republican Party!

Yes, that is a lovely play huh? Nothing like calling lesbian statuatory rape a "good rape."
Sounds like Gabe has a good head on his shoulders.
You know, the mainstream values that people in this country have are the values espoused by the right so it is no wonder that good people like Gabe come over to our side.
If you think that we should all chip in to pay for clean needles for drug addicts then be a democrat, if you think drug addicts should quit using drugs then be a Republican.
I used to be a lefty feminist victim. My eyes were opened the day I realized that all the rumors about Clinton's harrassment and downright assault on women was true, and not a single NOW representative spoke out against him, and the press did nothing but make excuses and do everything they could NOT to cover the story. I realized right then and there the bias and propoganda I had been stupidly going along with like a blind sheep. Since then, I've learned a lot listening to talk radio and comparing the blogs to the newspapers. The contrast is amazing. Now I am a fan of Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura, Ann Coulter and even Michael Savage. I believe in intellectual honesty, no matter what side of the fence you are on. Sadly, it's tough to be a Democrat if you are intellectually honest.
I still recycle though!
Hey, I'm the one who pushes everyone at my work to recycle! They all fight me and they are lefties. But I think that hunters and loggers are the true conservationists. The "environmentalist" being a tree hugging liberal is just another media stereotype. Those people aren't helping.
Taking care of the environment is not about smoking pot and pooping in the woods. It's about a proper balance, game management, sustainable logging, and not putting an african dung beetle's "rights" before those of a person is what true environmentalism is.
I'm glad to hear of your conversion!
