Viva el Gordo

Senator praised for support of a guest-worker program
Two of Oregon's largest agricultural groups are thanking U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith for his support of immigration reform, including a guest-worker program, in a radio advertising spot.

"Without their hard work, many family farms could not survive," the ad says of Mexican workers. It advocates stopping illegal immigration while giving farmers a means to hire legal workers from Mexico.

I love the terminology they use, "comprehensive" and "stopping illegal immigration" is all just a cover for amnesty. It's like "stopping illegal drug use" by legalizing drugs.

If a family farm can't survive without their illegal workers from Mexico then they shouldn't be in bussiness.

Speaking of Guest Workers we have thousands of US Citizens working in the Middle East and Guest Workers.

However, in many cases its just the worker who is living there as the hosts don't want their families. And, if the families are along they share life in a separate Western Compound as the natives don't want our culture and lifestyle to infect theirs.

Hip-huggers to Hip-hop, its all bad and they choose to do something about it.

Can't say that I blame them.

Senator praised for support of a guest-worker program

August 21, 2006

Two of Oregon's largest agricultural groups are thanking U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith for his support of immigration reform, including a guest-worker program, in a radio advertising spot.

The Oregon Association of Nurseries and Oregon Farm Bureau Federation are sponsoring the ads, which are scheduled to start running today.

"Without their hard work, many family farms could not survive," the ad says of Mexican workers. It advocates stopping illegal immigration while giving farmers a means to hire legal workers from Mexico.

Jeff Stone, the government-relations director for the Oregon Association of Nurseries, said the group decided to sponsor the ad campaign to counter the "vitriol" heard on talk radio. The ads will run during drive time in the morning on KXL, KUIK, KPAM and other stations.

Smith has supported a guest-worker program for farm workers that would allow them to work in this country and then return to Mexico. The senator has not supported a guest-worker program as a path to U.S. citizenship, said a spokesman for Smith's office.

"There is a lot more heat than light around this issue lately," said Dave Dillon, the executive director of the Oregon Farm Bureau. The farm bureau appreciates Smith's efforts for a comprehensive solution to immigration problems, Dillon said.

To anonymous 10:49, I also thabk him. If that means I think he is a traitor that needs to be deported.
Senator Smith voted in favor of final passage of S.2611. Specifically, S. 2611 would: reward approximately 10.2 million illegal aliens with an amnesty allowing them to permanently take American jobs and become U.S. citizens; Sen. Smith voted in favor of a motion to invoke cloture on S. 2611 a procedural move to end debate on S. 2611. S. 2611give out permanent green cards to up to 66 million foreign workers and dependents over the next 20 years.
Go to NumbersUSAto see how Sen. Smith earned a "F" on the immigration reform report card.

We already have SEVERAL guest worker programs. We have passed an Amnesty 7 times. Farm labor is only 1 million, what are the other 10-19 million Illegal aliens doing if not working on a farm?
Blueberry crops are increasing in Oregon AND we have the highest output per Acre, WHY? MACHINES.
NOT slaves from Mexico picking them.

Senator Gordon Smith is already a multi-millionaire why would he still want to be a Senator anyhow?

Run ads Farm bureau (they are hurting soooooo bad, they can afford ads for Senators that are not up for re-election for 2 years?!)

The people that actually VOTE, US blogger activists, will work very hard in 2008 to remind all that Smith doesn't care about AMERICAN workers.

Does anybody at I.C.E. have the balls to investigate Smith's factories in E. Oregon? Seems very possible that he is hiring illegal foreign workers. Otherwise if he is only hiring legal workers and is profitbale, why would he claim that his farmers need another Amnesty? Smith operates just fine without it, supposedly.

22 ICE field investigators in Portland.
I want them to work and give me what I pay for now!
Smith Frozen Foods, go there & you will get much praise from most Oregonians. If not we will push to have all ICE agents FIRED or all funding to be Voted to ZERO, as they aren't doing squat anyhow.

Gordon Smith did what his constituents wanted. He supported the Senate bill because of the lage amount of calls, letters, faxes etc that were received by his offices around the state and in D.C. by Oregonians. This is what representative Democracy looks like. If you don't like it, move to Cuba.

Anon,

Gordon Smith did what HE wanted to do. It is a benefit to him and to other big wigs. The numbers show that the majority of people are concerned about guest worker programs.

anon, Smith did NOT do what most people wanted. If so then the Senate Bill would have easily passed by now. Instead unusual hearings are being held on the proposal BECAUSe so many complained about the Senate bill.
Nice try but you forgot that we are the informed. you may have Better luck with the newspaper crowd only, they might beleive you on Smith.
Smith, per his voting record, has a long history of NOT supporting Americans and being in favor of Illegal Aliens.

What a bitter bunch of namby pambies. Smith voted the Oregonian voice--you whiners lost the debate. Anti-Immigration is out, pro-immigration is in. wake up and get a clue, you lost!

Yeah, we "lost." That's why no politican will dare utter the word "amnesty."

That's why all politicans must at least pretend to be for enforcement.

That's why the senate amnesty bill is going nowhere!
