That's not my sidewalk?

This last weekends protest went very well. The only negative aspect of it was the Cornelius Police chief. I am going to do a series of videos showing what happened.

Initially he came up to me, no uniform, no badge, no indication that he was law enforcement. (you hear me in the video say as much) He told me that he was going to "enforce the law" if I was in the street and that he "wasn't going to have another Woodburn." (this is before the camera captures the conversation) I thought that he was just John Q Citizen from the illegal alien side telling me that he would basically tackle me if I walked in the street.

Here is what happened
2.3mb

So after that I explained what had gone on while the chief got friendly with the illegal alien crowd.

Me explaining
1.4mb

So then he got very insistent that we had seperate "sides." I went to take a picture and when a truck turned to come down the road I moved to the sidewalk. The truck didn't have to slow down, move or deviate. And remember, we are talking about a road where most trucks get this treatment:

The police chief talking to me after that
2.5mb

The converstation continues with the chief saying that if I walk across the street he will charge me with "disorderly conduct and probably riot." He admits that this is "a stretch."

It continues
3.7mb

That's a pretty good summary. Not all the videos are hosted yet so there a few gaps and these are obviously just clips. Hopefully I will be able to get the rest up shortly.

For the record: I believe that you should always comply with law enforcement's orders. If they say "stand there" then you stand there. But if they say "stand there for 5 hours" then I start to have a problem with it. I have be successfully protesting illegal aliens all over this state with no incident. I always go mingle, strike up conversation and take close-up pictures.

My contention was that as long as I broke no laws then I should certainly be able to walk over and talk/take pictures/do a little dance if I wanted. Let me know if you think that I was out of line.

The city manager, who is the police chief's boss, commented on the protest here.
Following the email algorithm the city manager, Dave Waffle, can be reached at this email:

Speaking from experience a riot situation is a must on the avoid list as you will suddenly feel your "animal instincts engage" and then sane people begin doing things they would have considered unthinkable only moments before.

However, it is an excellent way to learn what you are made of and its not all sugar, spice and everything nice.

Daniel,

This seems to be a theme with you all from the Minutement. You say, "everyone should follow laws and not pick and choose", but you show direct disregard for a police officer. And, it is on video, how nice. Posting these videos will demonstrates the child mind you anti-immigrant radicals hold. Thanks for sharing!

I'm sorry, what law did I break? What law did I "choose" to break?

Anyone?

Are you saying I am not cute? I got all dolled up just for you damnit!

I don't know Amy, you look a bit skanky in an Aryan Nations/Minutemen/KKK sort of way. If that is what you call "dolled up", you need to rethink that one.

Famous last words, "this guy thinks he's a cop..."

Next scene, Daniel submitting like a little bitch to "the guy who thinks he's a cop". This is funnier than funny. You got your bell rung son.

Daniel, they need this gung-ho, no uniform wearing thug in Portland to guard the Schumacherfur company that can't be allowed to operate a legal business that has been there for over 110 years.
I was only able to attend one Matricular give away here in Eugene but I immediately noticed that the police seemed to be there to protect the illegals from us rowdy types.
It's a crime when the law makers side with the law breakers.
Keep up the good work but don't do anything that will give these traitors an excuse to arrest you.
To M&M-don't give up your day job if you have one. Your comedy act is played out.

You will notice that after I said that I went over and asked him if he was law enforcement at which point he told me that he was the chief of police. (still no ID, no badge, or no uniform though)

But which is it? Was I submitting or being lawless? Make up your mind guys.

Your doing great Daniel. Its clear the chief has no upper education to speak of. He also needs to re-read the law books. If he arrested you, it would fall through the cracks instantly.

Where are the tickets being given out to the illegals for assembling without a permit? They should have to get one every single day they wait for criminal bosses to pick them up.

I am not sure but it sounds like some folks here watched different video clips from the ones I watched.

I saw a fellow telling Daniel he could not cross the street. It turns out, later, the fellow was COP of Cornelius. Daniel asked him to clarify the law and the COP told him if he walked into the road he would be arrested for Disturbing the peace and Rioting. After that, I did not see any video showing Daniel walking in the street...

I am getting a bit older and my eyesight is not what it used to be, but I sure did not see anyone doing anything the COP told them not to do.

Liberal morons....sheesh

Mike: If this guy told Daniel that he was a cop but did not produce a badge or other ID, then how could Daniel be certain that he actually was a cop? Anyone can say he is a cop, but he should have to prove it for any order he issues to be valid, I would think. For all Diniel knew, this guy could have been as phoy as a three dollar bill (or as most liberal arguments).

This guy started out telling us to move our Van. I said "last week people were parked there and even a State police officer parked there".
This Guy said, "I will only tell you one more time to move or you will be in trouble and towed away".

MIKE, HE NEVER TOLD US HE WAS THE POLICE..UNDERSTAND? NO uniform, hat, badge, car etc.

THE MAYOR TOLS US TO LISTEN TO HIM BECAUSE HE WAS THE CHIEF OF POLICE.
We were surprised to find out.

Daniel was a distance away and he did NOT know he was an officer either. This officer was very rude and acting exactly the same as the commie guy trying to tell Daniel he could not walk across the PUBLIC street.

I asked the Chief if we could at least walk on that PUBLIC sidewalk and he said NO, the Mayor said YES.

MEANWHILE, people who could be one of the 590,000 Illegal Alien fugitives, are getting help from the Chief of Police?
CHILD Molesters, Rapists, repeat D.U.I. offenders, ALL persons that are to be deported, getting HELP from the Chief, while us TAXPAYERS are told we cannot walk across OUR street?
Mike, make sense of that for us.

Anyone notice that the Argus said we will be at the Hillsboro D.L.S. this saturday?

Hey Mike,

You still haven't said what law Daniel broke? I don't see any evidence of him breaking laws only exposing business owners and illegal aliens for breaking laws.

No one is allowed to pick and choose which laws they will follow including illegal aliens.

Signed,

Totally Amazed in Washington

P.S. Anyone watch Hannity and Colmes last night? It should come as no surprise that terrorist groups are trying to get into the US via the US/Mexican border. Suppose we should give them a break as well after all maybe they just want to help the economy and work at day labor sites.

Mike,

Wow Skanky? I have risen to a new level I guess. Don't KKK memebers need to be white ? Take a closer look..I am not white. Lats make a deal Mike I will see you at the next rally?) That way you can blow me a kiss in person.

The Chief of Police in Cornelius is an idiot. You might have been ahead to have him arrest you because it would have been a false arrest allowing you to sue him.
Disorderly Conduct: A person with 'intent to cause public inconvenience, annoyance or alarm' the sub section dealing with roadways states 'obstructs vehicular or pedestrain traffic on a public way'. A person standing in the cross walk for instance when a car comes - has the right of way - not the car. That Chief is a professed Mexican lover, lived in Mexico for years and has more loyalty to Mexico than he does to the US.

The Chief of POlice in Cornelius has a reputation for loving and always taking the sides of Mexicans than supporting the US or people who are here. I had the opportunity to watch him in action several months ago. He was yelling, cussing and completely out of control. He yells at his officers, he thinks because he is the Chief he is right and everyone else is wrong. He has a very poor reputation around this community except for with the Mexicans - who all just love him.

Do I understand correctly. The Chief of police has the right to tell a person which side of the street they can stand on? Where did he receive his training? Is he an example of all the officers who work in Cornelius, because if he is . . .

Robin said...

the chief of police should have first identified himself as a law-enforcement officer.

Secondly, once authority has been recognized, you pretty much have to do what he says (obviously) because they can charge you now and worry about it later.

As far as disorderly conduct...
SECTION 1. ORS 166.025 is amended to read:

166.025. (1) A person commits the crime of disorderly conduct in the second degree if, with intent to cause public inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk thereof, the person:

I kind of sounds like based on the summary, that as soon as you step outside your front door anybody could be charged with disorderly conduct.

Robin said...

in addition, I'm surprised that the police chief did not charge both sides with unlawful assembly

Anonymous said...

Robin,

It is dangerous for a man like that to Represent himself as a Peace officer without showing a badge. Both sides should be disturbed about that. We had a man pulling women over in Mc. Minnville and in Eugene that told women he was an officer. He used a flashing light on his car etc...
Of course he brutalized the women. It just is unethical and against the Police officers standards and training ...Someone should call BPSST in Salem and make a complaint.

Mr. Mayhem calling Daniel a "rabble rouser" strikes me as a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. Come on, Mike. Your every post on this blog is an obvious attempt to instigate rather than engage in rational debate. You may disagree with Daniel, but I don't believe he is breaking the law by protesting what he finds objectionable, which also happens to be illegal in this case. What's wrong with that? Can you answer that question honestly without reaching for that race card in your pocket? You use "libertarian" as a descriptor in your profile. Knowing many libertarians and having read several of your comments, I aint seeing it.
