Cornelius Day Labor: Part tres

Scroll down for parts uno and dos

Remember the illegal aliens marches? Remember how the unions told the illegals after the first couple ones to not use Mexican flags or insult America? There was no union here...

You feel like hiring this guy to work in your yard?

This guy showed me his backside last weekend too. Here is his face for the record: (let me know if you can tell a difference)

He has a "legalize me" sign which would imply that he is an illegal alien.

One of the spots where a "day labor" sign was taken down (thanks to Rick, Michael and myself) here we have it's replacement:

The flag was taken down right after I took the picture. I can only assume that they are ashamed of green, white and red with the chicken and worm on it.

The girl in the center here was very popular. Apparently she worked at Centro Cultural over the summer teaching English. Apparently she isn't a very good teacher if these were some of her students. She was also helpful enough to bring back some ACLU paperwork, in Spanish, so that the criminal aliens would know their rights.

This guy admitted to coming here illegaly in the 1970's. He is under the impression that he can tell me which sidewalks I can stand on and which ones I can't. Hah.

While we had paperwork that showed what the specific labor laws are, the other side resorted to their tired argument of calling all of us "racist." Apparently racism is a crime in Oregon (I'm not positive on the exact statute...) but I found it ironic that criminal aliens were willing to go there.

We are just a group of Americans who want our laws enforced!

Short narrative:

I arrive a little after 7am and we already had a good group going. Thank you Rick, Michael, Amy, Bob and Mary Starrett for being there so early! At this point the illegal aliens were still under the impression that they were going to work today so they were hanging out in their usual spot on Centro Cultural property.

As usual I walked over and took some pictures which makes several of them pretty angry. It's a lot of the same guys from last Saturday. (You will notice that one guy is even wearing the exact same clothes...)

We cause a few trucks who turned down the road to keep going when we went over with cameras. A few guys do get picked up. (see below post for contact info) Then the enablers come.

The enablers are illegal aliens supporters who are impervious to logic or reason. This was actually a blessing because they provided the paper and sharpies to make the crude signs as well as the flags.

In terms of them breaking additional laws I had one little guy put a hand on me three (tres) times, loose change was thrown at us, something was thrown at a woman, (yes, these guys are brave) and someone tried to back over one of our military veterans.

There was also much swearing at us in Spanish and most of it involved referring to the male reproductive organ.

We left as a group a little after 12pm. I figure that the illegal aliens standing on the side of the road with their mexican flags and "legalize me" signs probably continued to do harm to their cause even after we left. We got many honks and signs of encouragement from passing cars as well as some "you're number one" fingers from enablers and illegal aliens.

Tons more pictures, tons more to say, stay tuned.

Isn't telling an Illegal Mexican Alien to go home the same as telling them to go to hell?

Thought so.

Great work. Glad we got ya.

Don't know where we would be without ya.

Keep the faith and you will keep your following, myself included.

This is the best example of honest, principled political protest I've seen or heard of in Oregon in a long time. And it's effective! This is how you make a difference.

"America is Mexico"
Well, according to Ken Mehlman, RNC Chair "Americans are all Israeli" so for certain, then by defult, we are all Mexicans too. Thereby America is, in fact Mexico. This man's sign is correct.

WE ARE ALL MEXICANS!

Just remember, press *2 for English when you call to bitch and whine.

I think it would be awesome if Lars did a live remote at one of these protests.

It is great to see a protest from the other perspective for once. I am tired of "racist" being thrown at those who just want laws enforced.

He was great to see them was this morning there. He is chistoso because although he is legal and it has a home and the computer and the legal family, I I work as a day laborer and I cannot speak its language and it does not write it to machine here, you you assume that I am an illegal foreigner. It is to see amused that with all the problems in Oregon, you have obtained the time to focus in this one while their sluggish children use drugs instead of obtaining from their asses and to work fat. Véale in again soon, the donkeys!

Daniel-

These pictures are fantastic. Man, you guys really stepped up and hit a home run with this. I especially love the pictures of the Contractors hiring the criminals. If memory serves, part of the requirements of being a licensed contractor in the state of Oregon is that you obey the law in the operation of your business. Hmm........

1001st Fiend said...

Yup,

Here is the administrative rule

812-003-0110
Standards of Behavior
(1) A contractor shall not engage in dishonest or fraudulent conduct injurious to the welfare of the public.
(2) A contractor shall cooperate fully with any investigation undertaken by the Board pursuant to ORS 701.225.

I would think that tax evasion, tax fraud, and conspiracy to violate federal immigration laws would constitute "dishonest or fraudulent conduct".....

maybe someone oughta report those contractors to the Construction Contractors Board. That will dry up the "hundreds" of other locations where illegal activity is occurring.....

RE: Dick Lamm comments

What I find a concern is how many ranking officials in DC have dual citizenships and passports from two countries.

How can we allow that?

Vista CA. has started requiring a permit to pick up "Day Laborers".
In the last 2 weeks only ONE person has been picked up.
The citizens are demanding that this law be passed on to ALL Day Labor Sites.
This law was enacted because of PROTESTS.

YES EVERYONE, I HOPE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO CALL THE CONTRACTORS BOARD AND THE WORKERS COMP AND LIABILITY INSURANCE PEOPLE. It is a FACT, that in the last few years, because of hiring "cheap" ILLEGAL Labor (with limited experience) that liability rates for Contractors has gone through the roof!
We need to call those insurance companies and let them know how their customers are skirting the law.
They will be very upset and they alone could stop any Contractor from picking up ANY ONE at these sites, EVER, Statewide!

I love it when the criminals blog on this site, proof they are mad, especially when written in some foreign language no one wants to learn.

HABLA ENGLISH, ME CASA EST NO TU CASA! ON DE LE'

It's simple. The illegal immigration issue is an existential issue for America. That's right, our very survival as a nation AS WE KNOW IT depends on the outcome of this debate. Those who fail to see that have political or economic reasons for wanting open borders. True patriots know the way to win this battle is with a spotlight on the truth. Daniel, you have such a spotlight. Thank you.

Study shows immigration not hurting U.S. employment
By staff and wire reports

Growth in immigration since 1990 hasn’t hurt employment prospects for American workers, says a study released Thursday.

The report comes as Congress and much of the nation are debating immigration policy, a big issue in this fall’s midterm congressional elections.

The Pew Hispanic Center found no evidence that increases in immigration led to higher unemployment among Americans, said Rakesh Kochhar, who wrote the study.

Kochhar said other factors, such as economic growth, played a larger role than immigration in setting the job market for Americans.

Kochhar cautioned that immigration could affect job markets in some local areas, but the study found no national trends supporting a link. States with big increases in immigration were just as likely to have low unemployment as states with little immigration, he said.

“We cannot say with certainty that the growth in the foreign born population has either hurt or helped” the job market, Kochhar said.

The study did not look at whether wages were affected by immigration. Advocates for tighter immigration policies argue that immigrant workers depress wages for American workers, especially those with few skills and little education.

Immigration supporters argue that foreign workers often take jobs that Americans don’t want and won’t take.

The Pew Hispanic Center is a nonpartisan research organization that does not advocate policy positions. The center studied census data on the increase in immigrants from 1990 to 2000, and from 2000 to 2004, for each state. It matched those figures with state employment rates, unemployment rates and participation in the labor force among native-born Americans.

The U.S. had 28 million immigrants — legal and illegal — age 16 and older in 2000, an increase of 61 percent from 1990. By 2004, there were 32 million.

Among the study’s findings:

Nebraska had the seventh highest growth rate of immigrants among the states from 1990 to 200, at 168 percent, whil the general population grew 11 percent. After it it absorbed those immigrants, Nebraska in 2000 had the second-highest employment rate among native-born people, 70.8 percent, above the national average and below only Minnesota’s rate of 73.1 percent.

Immigrants tend to be younger and have less education than American workers. But the study found “no apparent relationship between the growth of foreign workers with less education and the employment outcome of native workers with the same low level of education.”

Another student of immigration, Steven Camarota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies, said his research shows that many young workers with little education are hurt by competition from immigrants.

“Employment for less educated natives has declined, and their wages have declined,” said Camarota, who advocates stricter immigration policies. “There is no shortage of less educated workers in the United States.”

C.C.B. & B.O.L.I.: We are aware that Contractors are NOT providing Liability Insurance to such persons and
very possibly NOT doing paperwork to comply with Workers' Compensation laws also.
We formally request these Employers to be investigated and a notice sent to all Contractors to OBEY the LAW.

From CCB Website;
The Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) has received hundreds of letters, faxes and e-mail messages from construction contractors who are experiencing significant price increases in their liability insurance premiums or who are finding it very difficult to find a carrier who will insure them.

Contractors are reporting that they have been forced to consider one or more of the following actions:

Paying insurance premiums that have increased an average of 160 percent in the last year (in some cases 1,000 percent).
Raising their prices and passing the increased costs on to the client.
Paying lower wages to their employees.
Working illegally without liability insurance. http://www.oregon.gov/CCB/liability_insurance_crisis.shtml
It is the mission of the CCB Enforcement Section to:
"Provide an effective deterrent to illegal activity in the construction industry."

The program seeks to achieve this mission by timely investigation of all allegations of unlicensed and illegal activity on construction sites in Oregon. Because the agency's resources are limited, we concentrate enforcement resources on allegations of:

Unlicensed activity,
Theft by deception (fraud), and
Identity theft.

In response to "they will stay!"

The study did not look at whether wages were affected by immigration.

So the number of jobs are the same but the wages are lower and Americans are displaced. What a good deal.

Ditto -

"Growth in immigration since 1990 hasn’t hurt employment prospects for American workers, says a study released Thursday." The Study goes on to say: "The study did not look at whether wages were affected by immigration."

When "The Study's" complete, let me know; but it doesn't take a financial wizard to realize illegal alien workers have driven down the pay scale, working conditions, and benefits of US Citizens.
