OK, after hearing from several people, including in the comments here, I decided to look further into the Cornelius Police Chief's love of illegal aliens.
Possible quote: "they can cross the border but you can't cross the street."
(He really did stop his Spanish conversation to tell me to get back to "my side" of the street.)
Quote from Chief Rubenstein with regards to police being able to enforce immigration laws:
"We don't want to rebuild that wall," the chief said. "We don't want to make someone feel that if they come forward to law enforcement, they will just be victimized further by being deported."
LINK
Much the same as you don't want to "victimize further" a drug dealer who reports his stash got stolen...
For most of the time he's worn a badge, Cornelius Police Chief Paul Rubenstein has worked to bridge the gap of trust between officers and immigrants in the Northwest.
(Same link as above)
I notice that there is also a "gap of trust" between officers and rapists. Perhaps the chief wants to do something to "bridge" that?
Possible quote: (in spanish) "Now I know that I scolded Daniel but it's ok for this guy next to me to be in the street, oh and by the way, when you guys are hanging out around the junior high school please stop throwing empty beer cans on the ground."
Oooh, Daniel suggested that many illegal aliens are rapists, how awful. Wait a minute, the guy who represents illegal aliens, the Mexican Consul said that they are rapists... In further anticipation of the "how do you know the people who hang out here are illegal?" I would say that my first clue was WHEN THEY TOLD ME SO and the second was all the signs they had last time that said "legalize me." But I'm getting off subject...
So what got Chief Rubenstein into law enforcement here?
Rubenstein was hired in 1980 as a bilingual (Spanish) and bi-cultural police officer by the city of Hillsboro.
LINK (google cache only)
So if you are a "bi-cultural" officer then you make sure that you ignore law breakers right Ruby?
Rubenstein stated his belief that the Washington County community, especially in Hillsboro and Cornelius, truly knows that the police follow Oregon state law regarding immigration status.
(same link as above)
Oh yeah Ruby, us in the community know how you feel about illegal aliens...
Note that the head of Centro Cultural, Sabino Sardineta, gets to sit in on these "law enforcement contact" meetings. It's one big illegal alien love-fest in there.
NOTE: all videos from previous posts have been moved to a good server (thank you Greg) and are functional. If you haven't seen them yet scroll down a ways and have a look-see.

My bet is the Chief Rubenstein is a heavy contributor to the ACLU and one of those dedicated to dividing the USA so it can be destroyed from within.
If you think he just landed in Hillsboro by accident, you are a fool.
Does the Washington County Commission and its D.A. know that el jeffe rubenstein is harassing actual AMERICANS while aiding and abetting identity theft, welfare fraud, tax evasion, and other crimes directly related to the act of illegally crossing our borders? I'm also wondering if I.C.E might want to pay a visit to him with some questions regarding RICO. I'm wondering what a Writ of Mandamus waved in this anti-American clown's face would evoke. Since he isn't man enough to uphold his oath of office, my guess is that the floor under him would suddenly become wet.....sheesh.
He must have no female children..
Daniel, it looks like Washington County has handed Cornelius over to the Mexicans; Hillsboro's next. We ate at "Basco's Burgers" yesterday; known as the last bastion for local families and student workers... There where three "Latin American" workers behind the counter and not a 'native' in site.
We walked over to the new "Grande Foods" (formerly Hanks Thrifway) to develop some film, our last visit. We crossed a bank parking lot in which every patron looked to be of Mexican 'decent,' as were all the patrons and employees at "Grande Foods." We felt south of the boarder, scary.
I guess it's only appropriate the Police Chief's one of them, but did you read Cornelius Mayor, Terry Rilling's quote in the Hillsboro Argus regarding the illegal labor site?
"I've lived in the neighborhood for years and I've had guys there jump on the back of my truck or run out in front of me. I've had hundreds of complaints about day laborers from citizens. We need to do something about this kind of conduct."
If the Mayor's opinion is indicative of the city council, and the citizenry ... maybe there's hope? Keep the pressure on the "Chief."
The Chief of Police of Cornelius. He appeared to have little man's syndrom. It was very apparent he loves to hear himself talk of course it is also obvious he has no idea what the laws say or how to enforce them. What kind of an example is he to the officers who work there? Maybe he should just stand with the rest of the Mexicans and hold up a sign.
Does anyone else see the hypocracy in this article?
California man gets 30 days in jail in Grand Canyon permit case.
The Associated Press
August 15, 2006
A California man was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation after pleading guilty to three federal counts of conspiring to fraudulently get permits for private rafting trips through the Grand Canyon.
Stephen E. Savage, 61, of Diamond Bar, Calif., who pleaded guilty and was sentenced Monday in Flagstaff, was also banned from all national parks while he is on probation and must pay $15,000 to the Grand Canyon Search and Rescue Fund.
'We are pleased with the outcome of this case and feel it reflects the serious nature of the offense committed,' Grand Canyon National Park Superintendent Joseph Alston said in a statement released Tuesday.
'In this case Savage put his personal interests in front of thousands of others who have waited years for the opportunity of a river trip. We hope this sentence serves as a deterrent for others that have tried to abuse the system.'
Rafting down a river bad, jumping the border, priceless.
This is a problem for everyone, not just one political demograhic. I'm glad that we are making headway.
Are you guys going to the DLS in Cornelius again Saturday? I might want to join you.
Who can find us Chief Rubenstein's bio so we might learn from where he comes and better understand why?
You can go to the links I provided for some other quotes. One is a news story and one is a meeting about police contacts.
Hey, bobkatt, great point!
I took the time to check out Centro Cultural Center in Cornelius. Not only have they disabled the 'day labor' page, but guess who is listed at the top of the list as a board member. Paul Rubenstein. The same person who has taken an oath to uphold the laws in this state. It is obvious by his behavior who he supports. The video where they refused to allow you to walk down the road would be disorderly conduct - but I didn't see that the chief did anything about that. Wouldn't he have 6 months to do something about that too.
That was a good one, but Dany never had credibility... He worked before to do that, rigth Dany?
ooops, I forgot, you can call me AL
I picture anon 319 wearing ladies undies and sunglasses. Probably just a case of bad parenting but maybe we should call a shrink for a closer look?
Amy
This so-called Chief of Police, Runenstein, is not fit to pack water to a good policeman. He should give up his badge and go do something he is qualified for, such as standing by a freeway entrance with a hand-scrawled sign begging for money.
Sorary, I misspelled "Rubenstein". My bad!
Did Rubenstein arrest Daniel? Where is he?
