They are feeling dismal

Signing up for mailing lists is an easy way to keep informed about what people/groups are up to. (One of my favorites is the "job opportunities for public artists" it's a real hoot)

The "Rural Organizing Project" has just sent out this letter. It's worth reading.

There have been fewer calls for people to fill the streets rallying for immigrant rights since the historical protests on May Day of this year, but the issue of immigration has stayed as hot and charged as ever. And your voice as a sane and rational and committed human dignity activist is as important as ever, especially as we draw closer to an election that is sure to try and use t his issue to pull our communities apart, both in DC and in our own local communities.

Last week, at a town hall with Senator Wyden in St. Helen's here in Columbia County, anti-immigrant folks were out in full force. One elderly woman stated that she was willing to go to the border and shoot (and thus protect her grandchildren from drugs). Day laborers in Cornelius have been under growing attack by the anti-immigrant group Oregonians for Immigration Reform who are protesting at the day laborer site and broadcasting their anti-immigrant hate on right wing internet blogs. Politicians seem to welcome the photo opportunities to be seen with the Minutemen. Things are feeling a little dismal here, folks.

Right-wing internet blogs? Where?!?!

Meanwhile, the leadership in Congress has been equally disappointing. Rather than working for real, just comprehensive immigration reform as it looked like momentum was building towards, the House and Senate recessed to con vene more opportunities to "listen to the public" aka pander to anti-immigrant sentiment, holding hearing with names like, "Border Vulnerabilities and International Terrorism and Use of the National Guard to Secure the Border."

But there is, as always, resistance to celebrate and push backs to be part of. Immigrant rights groups have been creative in staging their own hearings that sought out voices from the immigrant and ally communities to share information on what good immigration reform that protects workers worldwide, provides a path to citizenship and reunites families could really look like, rather than an enforcement only, fear based approach.

And now, you have a chance to join the effort this Labor Day weekend in Portland and celebrate the contributions of all of Oregon’s work force. Take a little trip and join with immigrant, labor and faith communities in a solidarity march for immigrant rights!

Sincerely,
Moonbat Stardust

My favorite part is where they say: "broadcasting their anti-immigrant hate on right wing internet blogs."

As far as I know, nobody that reads this blog is anti-immigrant. Rather, we are anti-ILLEGAL immigration. We simply wish for law enforcement, nothing more.

I love it. We are winning, and they're scared.

From what I saw on TV news it looks as they laid an egg!

The support may have been chilled by last nights horrendous hit-and-run of a bicyclist in Gresham where the windshield of the run vehicle was smashed into the driver area and witnesses had to chase the driver down.

It was well reported tonight and as we all suspected the drunk driver was a likely Illegal Alien.

There comes a point when even the Progressive Socialists can no longer deny the problem.

My bet is the bike rider was as far left and a Diversity Embracer as you can get.

Just another excuse to lie, divide, lie, change the subject, avoid questions and lie...No one cares what we really believe they just have an agenda. Well I have no regret for telling illegals to go home. I tell them to stay away from my daughters.

I live in a neighborhood that used to be a very nice place. It has been taken over by hispanics and now my property value went down. Do you think it is because people driving by see all the garbage on the ground, or do you think they can see there are hispanics in the homes through the walls?

I will protect my kids. If anyone has questionsthey can refer to Websters dictionary and look up protect. This is not a war I chose. It was a hostile attack perpetrated on me.

I do not care what color or shape they are, if they come and steal..they can expect us to defend.

Laid an egg? They predicted 2000 and 2000 turned out. What is laying an egg is when the anti-immigrant jackasses over at OFIR send out an email to their "listserve" and 8 show up. Only 8 show up? That is called laying a big ass egg. And here all along Dick Hickey tells us "the group is growing". Growing? Growing on the listserve maybe. That must be how all your emails reach me before any of it hits the public. Thanks "OFIR Members"!

I know that I'm not feeling "dismal" about things.

Today illegal aliens went and did our job for us by making spectacles out of themselves, I went trap shooting with Bear (who is a great American) and I have a three day weekend. I'm feeling pretty good.

Hey, the 12,000,000 aren't the ones we have to convince, it's the 100 that "work for the people" in the senate.

I think that these people who shout racist at these rallys are the true racists. Their profanity, shouting racist at the rest of us shows their true colors. Maybe if we had a true governing body we would not have this crap going on all the time. Somebody should ask the members of congress just why they feel the laws should not be enforced. John F. Kennedy felt that no nation should be allowed to have more than 10% of the immigrants from each country. Why are the latinos allowed over 80%? That eliminates many other countries from coming here. Personally, he was right in passing a law for this and we should not allow it to continue. Instead we need to insist that our congress enforce the laws that are on the books.

You're right, liberty44. In addition, our city, county and state officials need to hear from us. Unless the folks charged with upholding and enforcing all our laws can produce a list of those crimes from which actual Americans are exempt, then they must face their own blatant hypocrisy....at the ballot box!

You're not feeling dismal, Daniel? Oh, I think you feel a hell a dismal. OFIR/Oregon Minutemen can't muster 20 people let alone 200. You feel dismall or you wouldn't have written this entry. You punks are out numbered in representation by far, which is why the Senate voted the way they did. Reform is going to happen--not the way you want it, but it is going to happen.

It was interesting to note that the first gentleman in your video below is part of the ROP group that is constantly trying to make this a fight against immigrants instead of illegals. Read the article he wrote accusing us of being on the "dark side". I think he watched too much Star Wars. It appears that the whole illegal aspect of this argument is too much for these liars.
It is also very interesting to read the consistant comparisons of the Minutemen to the KKK and other white supremacist cults.

Gathering progressive socialists in Portland is as easy as drawing flies at a Tillamook dairy farm.

The only reason we are outnumbered in respect to people willing to march around is real simple, desperate people that do not have a Country, do not have a home, will do anyhintg.
Most Americans, of which 80% want an end to Illegal Immigration (other 20% Illegal or wacko commie), aren't desperate and truly beleive that our leaders will do the right thing. After all they made the laws and they make good sense anyhow.
