Help us Obi Wan Kenobi, migrants are our only hope

Oregon Migrant Education Service Center
What is the Migrant Student Accident Insurance?
The Migrant Education Program provides insurance to help with the cost of treatment for injuries caused by accidents. It covers accidents that occur 24 hours a day, all year.

Who is eligible for the Migrant Student Accident Insurance?
To be covered, children must be eligible for the Migrant Education Program in Oregon and currently enrolled on Oregon Migrant Student Information System (OMSIS). The insurance covers children between the ages of 3 and 21 years of age.

What does the Accident Insurance cover?
The insurance covers injuries due to accidents 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world, as long as the child is an Oregon resident. The insurance covers accidents from all interscholastic sports. The policy pays the expenses incurred for treatment, care and services within 52 weeks after the date of accident.

Here are some of the things that the insurance will cover:

Death claims and injury claims from auto accidents
· Sports injuries
· Bicycle accidents
· Playground accidents
· Dental work if teeth were injured by an accident

From the home page of the WESD:

“Our migrant children, they are our only hope... Like seedlings they have been sown in your schools. It is our wish they blossom into harvests of hope.”

Our only hope to what?!?!?! And does your school give you free health insurance for your kids or are you a second class citizen?

If we help them get educations and give them everything to become college bound, won't they eventually not be working in fields and factories where we supposedly need them? They won't be working there in a few years anyway...so we'll need someone else to do those jobs...we should just bite the bullet, kick them out and start replacing them with American workers.

I will say that at least some civil servants are still doing their job. I was at Tigard City Hall on Weds. to pay a speeding ticket I got and ahead of me was some hispanic guy whom the clerk was questioning as to whether he had a SSN. When he said no, the woman said "Do you have any paperwork?" and the man said very clearly "No". She then said, "Well, I'm going to have to call the Immigration services then because if you can't pay the fine right now we have no way to get back in touch with you." He flipped and ran off (and I saw one of the security guards run after him), but it was good to see a civil servant at least trying to enforce the law.

I can only hope that when my son gets old enough to be in school, they will give him insurance, so I can take him off mine and save the $166 a month it costs me to insure him.

Chances are though, that since I
A. make too much money to be on government assistance and
B. am a legal citizen of this country,

that I or my son will recieve no benefits. So I guess I'll just subsidize all the criminals families AND my own family.

Anon 12:20,

Right here... "The policy pays the expenses incurred for treatment, care and services within 52 weeks after the date of accident."

That means free.

Interesting story (or maybe it's just me), but my cousin teaches for a Migrant Head Start program in NW Washington. On a recent drive with my uncle, an old school conservative type, he mentioned his displeasure with the career path of his daughter. I agreed and shared some of my views on illegal immigration and how our government and businesses enable it. His response astonished me. It went something like "Hey, those folks pick your supper." We chatted on the subject for a short while before I decided to change the subject in the interest of maintaining good family relations. That wasnt the end of it though. I chewed on it a while and came to a conclusion. My uncle, the child of Swedish immigrants himself, is a racist. That's his deal with migrants, yet he has no problem with exploiting their labor. Me, I could give a rats ass about ethnicity, yet I have a strong opposition to illegal immigration, regardless of skin color or national origin. Hey, maybe we need to reform immigration policy, but that should exclude those who bypass our existing laws. Call me crazy, but we should welcome all who take the necessary steps to become Americans (assimilate), be they brown, black, yellow or white. Hell, I think that's great. I love the idea of a melting pot and am still inspired by the American dream. Furthermore, if we really believe in capitalism, competition and personal responsibility, it makes our nation stronger. Light a fire under the lazy asses of Amercians, white or otherwise.

If we had the will, we could easily regulate the flow of traffic across our borders, create sound immigration policy and put most everyone to work. A veritable capitalist utopia.

This helps explain why my Kaiser waiting room has so many non-English speakers and their many children, brothers and sisters to run rampant and make life miserable for all around.
