Daniel, WE ARE ALL IMMIGRANTS! This whole argument is BS. Besides, we should secure life for those within our borders (health care, et. al) before we worry about those who may come in "illegally" from outside the borders.
im·mi·grant n1. A person who leaves one country to settle permanently in another. 2. A plant or animal that establishes itself in an area where it previously did not exist.I am neither of these. I was born in America. Your statement is false. However, I think that LEGAL immigrants are great! Our country is a land of opportunity and it's no suprise that everyone wants to come here. But opportunity is not an invitation to break the law.If you have an opportunity to steal someones wallet, which would improve your financial situation, I assuume that you still wouldn't do it because that is stealing.Anyone who puts "illegally" in quote marks scares me. Obviously this person has no respect for the law and enjoys no personal responsibility.
But your relatives were immigrants. We are all, except for a few native AMericans, immigrants at one point. Recognize that.
Dear anonymous,My grandparents came to the United States LEGALLY via Ellis Island. So in your mind, what's the point in a country having soverign borders ??? Free healthcare, free education, subsidized housing, and don't have to pay taxes... sounds like a great deal to me!!!...ooops!! sorry!!! I am a legal US citizen and do have to pay: taxes, medical insurance, and a mortgage payment.
