Feeling blue? Get some Art Therapy courtesy of Oregon!

You must meet at least ONE of the following minimum qualification criteria:
To qualify as an ART THERAPIST, you must:
Have a Master's degree in art therapy, AND
Be certified as an Art Therapist (or certification eligible), AND
Be registered with the American Art Therapy Association.

Next in my series on worthless state jobs that are a waste of money: The Art Therapist. (Or music therapist or recreational therapist) With a salary of $44,376 what does this person have to do?

Art therapy is based on the belief that the creative process involved in the making of art is healing and life-enhancing. Through creating art and talking about art and the process of art making with an art therapist, one can increase awareness of self, cope with symptoms, stress, and traumatic experiences, enhance cognitive abilities, and enjoy the life-affirming pleasures of artistic creativity.

Nice to know that the state is hiring people "based on [a] belief" that Art Therapy is helpful rather than proven methods of rehabilitation. Wouldn't this money be better spent on a teacher?
