Portland day labor protest: Part dos

I arrived in the People's Republic of Portland a few minutes before our protest start time of 7am. I was the first one there... from our side. The boys and girls from the National Lawyers Guild were already there to counter-protest us.

The green hat wearing communists are a funny bunch, they studiously follow our every move, making sure the chronicle what we say/do on notepads. They are the only people who take themselves seriously.

Since I was first there I decided to walk over to their circle and engage in converstion. Perhaps because I wasn't carrying a little red book I was immediatly regarded with suspicion and no one would give me a green hat to wear.

I would be remiss if I didn't give my buddy (in the middle) some play here. He's a regular who says he knows me "unfortunately."

Shortly after I arrived we had the wonderful people from Oregonians for Immigration Reform as well as the Oregon Minutemen show up for the protest.

It was pretty quick (it's still dark) that we chased the day laborers off of their usual corner of Grand and Burnside and onto the opposite corner of the block.

This is where we had one of the few pick-ups for the day. Notice how it's similar to a "perp walk" where the participants cover their faces and want to get out of sight as quickly as possible. I wonder what the reason for this shame is?

Several of the local pastors/reverends came out in support of the illegal aliens. Here I was invited to pray with them all. I participated silently and respectfuly and I honestly respect sincerely held beliefs that you should help your fellow man. But none of these men or women were able to counter my citing of much of Paul's (not an insignificant writer in the bible) work.

Titus 3:1 Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,

1 Peter 2:13 Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether to the king, as supreme;

Romans 13:1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

So I would contend that you don't have a very good understanding of the Bible or Chrisitanity if you think helping people means encouraging or supporting people who break our nation's laws.

My buddy in the red beanie was the source of many of today's great comments. (warning: many of these will be offensive) First he offered me the chance to take a picture of his genitals. I told him to whip it out and since it was cold outside I wouldn't make fun of him. He then suggested that since we were there he would go sell dope to white boys. Not sure if these are the same white boys that he was referring to when he suggested that when he was in prison some white boys gave him oral sex. He also told me that when he goes back to Mexico he would kill the white kids of tourists. Nice fellow but he needs to visit a dentist.

Since by now the illegal aliens relized they weren't going to get any work they decided to just hold hands.

Our signs:

Someone even made me a Deport Gordon Smith sign!

Thank you to senatorial candidate Jared Thatcher for coming along with Vice President of OFIR Rick Hickey. (seen here giving a tv interview)

NOTE: Can't seem to get up at 5:00am on a Saturday to stop illegal aliens from getting jobs? Want to make a difference? Please give money to the Oregonians for Immigration Reform PAC. This money will go to political candidates who reflect our views on illegal immigration!

That's where I will leave off for now, part tres will be done tomorrow. Lot's more pics, lot's more narrative. Come back for it.

Thanks, Daniel, for your great pictures and comment. Also for getting up early on a Saturday morning to stand up for the U.S.A. We need you.

The "greenie beanies" are funny looking, all seriously taking notes.

On a serious note, day labors have no background check and unconfirmed identities. How would I know that I am hiring a unknown serial rapist, a sex offender, or a child molestor? Who is this guy? Does he have a background? Afterwards, taking them to a family's home to do work. This could potentially put a family in grave danger and it is one of the greatest and legitimate threats to be concerned about.

Looks like you did have a good time while accomplishing the mission. I wih I had been there for the photos. I'll be looking forward to seeing the article in the Sunday Oregonian, Rick (and possibly any fallout as a result of my letter to the editor today (14 Oct. 2006) in The Oregonian.).

KGW News gave the effort good coverage this AM and the spin has obviously changed rotation.

It also seems that some who support Illegals are Pot Heads who hope that with the decline of our society our Police will become so busy with investigating rapes and killings they won't have time to arrest them for openly using Illegal Drugs.

Rick: "(can't wait too see me speaking in Spanish)& Kboo radio 90.7 fm, Fri. 1-3, Eduardo is the host."

Tell me more about your KBOO gig ... I recently relinquished my 25 year membership with them due to their one-sided promotion of Illegals. Will you be on the air Friday, Oct. 20th? How'd you swing that, and what's the occasion?

Also, great work in Portland; it's my hometown, but at times like this - it's also embarrassing!

Kboo radio-Host asked me to do a live debate with open border person when his show is on Fri.s 1-3.
I don't know if this week or next will work but we will e-mail OFIR folks with a heads up on day and time.
Yes he warned me that they are "progressive".
Sounds like fun to me and worth missing more work.

Daniel, did we get photos of the one or two trucks that did pick up? I want to send that to our authorities. Mike? Kirk? Bob? If anyone else did, please e-mail me to forward to Daniel.

One thing I have to point out...MOST of the Latinos are polite, as we are, it is mostly the Anglo Commies that cause trouble. I think the Anglo Commies-Liberals are just Pawns for the Profiteers and that is why they are the Most emotional of anyone.

I was one of those guys that can't get up at 0500 in the morning. I'll gladly donate some funds to OFIR. Keep up the good work guys and God bless.

Says Rick: "Kboo radio-Host asked me to do a live debate with open border person when his show is on Fri.s 1-3."

Wow! Not only had I dropped my membership to KBOO, I sent a letter describing my disgust to every member of their board. A couple of months later, while listening to the same program (the very same show you've been 'invited to'), I called the Station Manager to complain about yet another one-sided pro-illegal rant. She asked that I send my parting e-mail to her, that she'd read it to the KBOO Board and review the transcript of that program. Your invitation may be her answer...?

A few months prior I'd alerted our OFIR President to a talk program in pregress promoting illegals - 'He' was magnificent! So Rick, do us proud, and send around the time & date; I don't think this is a call-in program, but at least it will have two sides!

Rick (me again), you say: "I think the Anglo Commies-Liberals are just Pawns for the Profiteers..."

As an Anglo-Socialist-Liberal (yet an X-Member of KBOO), I think they're hanging on to the threads of the Workers Rights movement of Cesser Chavez. They're also hung up on "Minority Rights" and "Voting Rights"... They refuse to distinguish between Legal & Illegal; and as most have grow up breaking 'minor laws,' they view illegally entering our nation as just that - a minor offense.

They also feel quite insulated from the competition of illegals; well educated, often from privilege, living in metropolitan enclaves unaffordable to illegals. I suggest they buy an all-day MAX ticket, ride it from Gresham to Hillsboro, observe our illegal 'Guests' on their own turf, then be honest with themselves. I have - and that's why I'm a member of OFIR.
