Won't you be my neighbor

Washington County Sheriff's Office Forced Release Report
The Washington County Jail has the capacity to house 572 inmates. Typically, about 53 offenders are booked into the jail each day (19,329 in 2006). Often, there are not enough beds to hold all the inmates who require lodging. When jail beds are full and no other release options are available, the jail is forced to release inmates.

The charges that appear on this site are only Washington County arrests. Most of these offenders have numerous arrests in other counties and states. The law prohibits the Sheriff's Office from publishing those arrests.
I challenge any state legislator to defend that particular law and to explain why it shouldn't be changed. You can see the release report for Washington County at that link along with the "top ten" released from the previous week. For example we have one person who was released with the following charges:

I sure am glad that she's out because I really need a babysitter for Friday...

Keep in mind that this was my initial research. I heard about the horrors that are going on up in Washington with forced release (heard on the Lars Larson show) and thought hmmm, what's going on in my county.

What is it going to take to keep these people in jail? Can we have a public vote on whether to take the money that we currently spend on Spanish language books/videos/dvd's for the Library and instead spend it on incarcerating people who are charged with more crimes than the average public school graduate can count?

Is there a name to go with that impressive resume?

Today I testified in support of a Bill that would require Oregon, in some circumstances, to DEPORT Illegal aliens in our Jails, to serve their sentence in THEIR home Country. This would free up a lot of Jail space, Statewide.
Rep. Lin, Flores, Thatcher, Kreiger, Cameron and many more, were supportive, as well as a Bill to ask FEDs to give us more money for Jailing Illegal aliens.

David passed out copies of the Marion County Jail ICE holds, over 35% of METH criminals have an ICE hold!

I have also had a meeting with the Sherriff of Wash. County to explain the 287g ICE program.
He is actually speaking with Legal Counsel about this program that requires ICE to come get these guys and take them away.

GOOD things are happening.

I wish more of you would help, ex. Mon. there should be a hearing on a Bill to require all Employers to check Immigration status of workers, if they don't, NO Tax deductions for wages!

A large amount of Calls, e-mails, letters and testifiers, would make this a reality.
Get on our e-mail list to help.

Posting a list of upcoming events on OFIR's www page would help or does that tip our had to the No Borders crowd?

good work dan, we could release them to a chain gang to solve the overcrowding problem in 24 hour shifts.

Daniel, when was the last time you had a negative word to say about the most secretive presidential administration in American history? Please direct me to any critical comments you've made regarding Bush's penchant for keeping information from the American public. In spite of a generally timid press, there's no lacking of glaring examples. I want to read these comments, so I can put your complaints about the Washington County Sheriff's Office (a legitimate complaint with which I agree) in the larger context of your overall political perspective.

If my library is any indication, it is not going to probably keep them in jail for more than a day or two longer at the most.

And, by all means, lets punish ALL of our Spanish language speakers that pay taxes, and, oddly enough, expect some return on that investment in their public library.

Believe it or not, we get quite a few students learning Spanish who check out that material because it is a good way to immerse yourself in the language.
