We'll give you the keys, you drive, but it's not for you

TRANSITIONAL FOOD ASSISTANCE
Purpose: Transitional Food Assistance (TFA) is a program to provide stable food benefits to families leaving the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Tribal TANF programs while receiving Basic Food.

"CLARIFYING INFORMATION"

People who are non-recipients of a TANF/SFA Assistance Unit do not impact the household’s eligibility for TFA.

EXAMPLE
Stephanie is the head of household for TANF and Basic Food. Stephanie is an undocumented immigrant and has failed to cooperate with the Division of Child Support (DCS) for TANF. As an undocumented immigrant, she does not receive TANF for herself.

Because Stephanie is not a TANF recipient, the failure to cooperate with DCS does not impact TFA. When the household leaves TANF, they may receive TFA.

It's the same argument that Oregon makes and it's an argument that only a lawyer could appreciate. Sure we're putting the money in her control but we're not really giving it to her...

I really like the part about the illegal alien being "uncooperative." I mean, if she walks into the DSHS office and spits on the nearest social worker do they still give her free stuff?

I see one basic problem, here. It does not seem to appear in Spanish, and therefore the information appears to be somewhat less available to illegal aliens who use taxpayer-funded library computer systems (to say nothing of the restroom facilities).

Doubtless, the "problem" will be "fixed" soon.
