Election coverage

I have to go attend a Cub Scout meeting so no blogging until (possibly) late tonight. I would highly recommend that you visit Orbusmax for all your NW and national election coverage.

I am very unhappy with the results. I am currently out of town for several weeks. I checked the web to get the results. Looks like Oregon is going red as in Commie red. I don't know how much longer I can put up with your state. The politics suck. The politicians suck. My taxes are going up substantially (hundreds of dollars/yr.). There is no restraint. An utter failure to reign in the Left. The only thing left to find out is whether they will control the Legislature. They already control the Governorship and the Court. One-party rule is coming to Oregon.

I am not from Oregon. Tell me that this isn't a coup d'etat of sorts? It seems to me that Oregon may have finally taken the plunge to the Left and will never come out of it. Socialism is on its way. Universal Health Care will be one of the first proposals unless the Republicans maintain control of the House. Too angry to swear tonight. After I digest this, it's lights out for me. No reason to gripe and complain about the Left. The Oregonians want a leftist, progressive, socialist government.

Well, I just checked your Orbusmax link. The headline is the "Oregon House goes Blue." So there's my answer. The Left controls all branches of government. The only hope we have left is the ballot measure. That's called barely hanging on.

I am scared of what will happen in the upcoming legislature. The pressure will be on to raise taxes and impose a socialist health care system upon us. And don't forget about tax-by-the-mile through the GPS. So many socialists programs are coming. I am not in Oregon right now (thousands of miles away). I don't want to go back.

As someone not from your area, tell me if this has happened before (dems control all branches of government) and what happened if it did.

I just lost all hope for trying to make a decent and happy life in Oregon. I need to leave. :(

The SS (Secular Socialist) have won.

For to long good people chose to do nothing.

Now all that is left to do is figure out how to work the system as well.

anon, you are right. The socialist have won. It is starting to look like a fait accompli to me. Trust me, one day many of you will find yourself wondering whether you need to leave the state. I suspect most of you are natives or near-natives. I am not. Fuck this state. I don't have enough invested here to put up with this shit. Oregon is off-the-chart left now. There may be no coming back. Seriously. I have lost faith in the state. Whoops, has that word been made illegal yet? I hate Oregon.

I am sorry. I apologize to you natives. I just can't fucking stand the politics and much of the people. I am in a much better place at the moment, but I have to go back to Oregon in a few weeks. Shit.

Bruce - you should write a book. Your personal journey from High Wizard of the Ozark Mountain Hillbilly Chapter of the KKK to a profession in cosmetology in the Willamette Valley is a compelling story. Best-seller material.

I didn't vote for Kulongoski - his record and his "plans" did not sit well with me. I am a brand new homeowner (about 3 mo) and just got my first property tax bill, so I am becoming more aware of what is going on at the county and state levels. I'd be remiss if I didn't say I am apprehensive about the possibilities for tax reform and budget stability. Oregon is my home. The Deschutes. Alvord Hot Springs. The Eagle Cap Wilderness. Dillon Falls. Cannon Beach. I love this state and I will do what I can to make a difference somehow if I don't like the way things are going. Acute cynicism incubates inaction, elongating the status quo.
