Helpful hypocrisy, hurtful hypocrisy

The revelation that an evangelical leader was engaging in homosexual behavior and purchased illegal drugs has got the media and the left in a fit of giggles. They love nothing more than to see a supposed virtous man fallen.

I'm currently reading the book, Do as I say, Not as I do (profiles in liberal hypocrisy), which is an interesting read (a little dry) but the author makes a very profound statement at the begininng:

(paraphrased) When a conservative violates his public stance of morality it is always to his/her detriment. The drugs, gay sex, theft, etc hurt the conservative and he/she recognizes that. On the other hand when a liberal violates his/her public stance of morality (don't pollute, corporations are bad/unions are good) is improves the life of the liberal. Not using a Union shop to film or produce movies means that Michael Moore can stay on budget for example.

The preacher who has been accused of having gay sex and admits to buying meth is being ridiculed by the liberals for his wrongdoings. I say wrongdoings because when a conservative does them they become wrong, anyone else and the liberal media would accuse anyone harrassing the person of a hate crime.

While the liberals are content to teach schoolchildren in public schools precisely how to clean their dirty heroin needles they are incensed that a God fearing man could possibly sin. No word on whether or not Haggard would have been able to use a (liberal supported) taxpayer funded needle exchange program if he needed something to shoot up with.

As for the homosexual behavior, I'm glad to see that the media and the left are treating it like the vice that it is. Maybe they will realize that drug use and homosexuality aren't something to be excused or justified but are serious problems for our society.

Haggard says what he did hurt him. We should take a lesson from that.

Daniel,
It would be very interesting to know the statistics on various political figure scandals.
I am the only one that thinks most conservative/repubs end up resigning, while the dems never have to?

Validation for the morally amorphous requires the opportunity to sneer, "see, some of them are just as low and perverted as us!" Apparently, none of the lefties are intellectually equipped to allow anyone to disagree with them without searching laboriously for some link (regardless of how obscure) to a fraud within the ranks. The simple fact that Haggard is universally regarded as having failed egregiously is an open admission by the left that consistent adherence to Christian beliefs and behaviors is the right thing to do, and that Christianity has value. I wonder what the homosexuals are thinking re the open betrayal (by the left) of their heretofore lauded (by the left) lifestyles. Haggard's failings are many and hurt many people. It is significant that nearly everyone recognizes this. What is also sad, is the fact that when serial buffoons such as the clintons or jon carry (Pardon the spelling. After all, I'm just a vet) are incapable of holding any so-called belief for more than a few hours, the left suddenly gets moral amnesia, and staunchly denies the existence of the concepts of hypocrisy and accountability. Since only one person has ever been infallible, it would at least be productive for the lefty anti-Americans to react to their own wrongful and stupid acts in the same manner as they react to those perpetrated by their political and moral foes......not holding my breath.

The clearest indication of the liberal hypocricy you outline in your post is the continuing attacks on you in this blog for your criminal past.

Homosexuality, Liberalism and Drug users, ALL have a Mental disorder.
Being a Liberal after 30, is the ultimate hypocrisy.

Liberals, liberals, liberals. There is something mentally wrong with an individual when they have to blame someone else when they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

What this is about is not Liberals or Conservatives, although to a political hack, it might appear that way. This is about the hypocrisy of members of the Christian faith that claim moral straightness and the protector of family values. Quit claiming morality and straightness and you will quit getting kicked in the face when you break your honor.

The act of homosexuality is not wrong, unless you of course believe in the man-made document of the "Holy Bible", then you may. "Liberals" or at least the opposition of the hypocrites take liberty, if you will in, pointing out the hypocrisy of the ones that claim to be the epitome of morals and family values. Those most often happen to be Conservative Christian Evangelicals. Once again, quit claiming to be the epitome of morals and "family values" and you won't get kicked when you rape underage pages, rape cocktail waitresses in a parking garage, buy meth, have sex with male prostitutes, illegally possess firearms while you are selling meth, etc, etc. Simple. Now why can't Conservatives get that?

It is the individual that should be held accountable for their wrongdoings.

well, anon 7:14, you've said a mouthful. All liberals have to do to avoid accountability is to declare the concept invalid. How droll. The clintons and j. carry are mentally ill if your first paragraph is valid. If homosexuality is not wrong, then why are the lefties even interested in Haggard? It stands to reason that Christians who fail are held to account, because we do understand right and wrong. If you don't accept that concept, then why would you reference illegal acts such as rape, drug use, weapons violations in the perjorative? Oh yeah, you're a lefty, and spouting nonsense and non-sequitors is not an intellectual hurdle to you.....sheesh.

It is because you attempt to shove your dogma down everyone's throats. We wouldn't care so much if you didn't try to prove your superiority by tering other's down with your dogma.

greeeaaat riposte, there, b.s.....bwaahaahaahaa. You're intellectual and moral bankruptcy is OUR fault?......sheesh.

Interesting that "conservatives" like Haggard, Foley etc are always the ones that rant about homosexuals and family values but turn out to be the ones raping children, woman and having homosexual sex with prostitutes. There is something peculiar about certain Conservatives who raise so much cane about Homosexuality. Almost like they are repressing something…could it be?

If you take this blog by common trends, there would have to be at least one conservative who is masquerading as straight, maybe married to a woman with children, but is actually homosexual. If I had to guess, by seeing Daniel’s picture and hearing him speak on the radio that he is somewhat feminine. Now if you read his posts, he plays up the “masculine” conservative persona to the extreme with talk of hunting, family fight club, chauvinist speak, and most of all the extreme ranting against homosexuals.

It is true that being feminine male doesn’t automatically make you homosexual, but the possibility is much more likely. On the other hand, there are other males on this blog that rant against homosexuality with a vengeance, something very interesting when by nature conservatives are usually for personal freedom. Ever hear the phrase, Thoust protest too much Like Pastor Haggard, Mr. Foley and other such conservatives, they preached vehemently against homosexuality, but turned out to be homosexuals themselves. Many of them had wives and children. So why are they repressing something that they are? Could it be because their Republican Party and their evangelical churches will reject them for being who they are, I think so?

My advice for you repressed conservative homosexuals on this blog is that you set yourself free and be who you are. Acting like a man in the “Republican Conservative” sense does not make you not gay or something. You are living a sham and a fraud. If you come out and be real with whom you are, you are less likely to have a mishap like Mr. Foley or Pastor Haggard acting out your repressed feelings in a secret and illegal way. Good luck!

Republicans/conservatives 'man up', apologize and resign. Democrats/liberals circle the wagons and blame republicans/conservatives.

Bear and Daniel seeme to be the ones ranting on homosexuality. Anon 9:22, your assessment could be correct. My bet is that Daniel is the closeted homo.

I trust that the gay community is paying close attention to the condescension they are receiving from their self-proclaimed "allies." All the lefties seem eager to throw their "pet" minorities under the bus in their zeal to bash conservatives. How ironic.

Anonymous said...

Bear--Doesn't seem like "condescension" at all. The LGBT community as well as "lefties" support those that decide to "come out". Being afraid due to your political party affiliation or your religion is a really sad thing. Whenever you, Daniel or other scared conservatives want to come to terms with your sexuality, we liberals, progressives and/or "lefties" will be here to support you. Will your conservative buddies be though?

BEAR said...

Hmmmmm, just like you "supported" Haggard and Foley? LOL! You're all sophistry and goads, without any coherent thoughts. I'm finished with you lightweights. Back under your rocks, boyees.

Bear:

Liberals are not opposing Haggard's homosexuality. They are opposing his hypocrisy. He is being defended by conservatives and attacked by non-conservatives because his actions threaten a potent conservative position.

Please adjust your analysis accordingly.

Why should anyone support Haggard and Foley, they are criminals. If they just came out as homosexual, there would be no problem, but they are riminals. It appears that conservative Evangelical Republican homosexuals are the ones raping little kids and engaging in prostitution--both illegal activities. Bear is defending those actions...weird.
