Hopefully the debate will be in English

An OFIR member in Eugene alerts us about a forum on immigration, to be held at Lane Community College in Eugene on November 28 from 7:30 PM to 9 PM in Building 19, Room 257.

The title of the forum is "The Politics of Immigration: Confronting our past, constructing a future." Jim Garcia, Chicano/Latino Student Program Coordinator at Lane Community College is the sponsor. Thus far, he has invited as speakers an immigration lawyer and Mike Samonoa, ethnic studies professor at Lane to represent the open-border point of view and Springfield city councilor Dave Ralston, who opposes illegal immigration and who will speak for immigration controls and restrictions.

Lane Community College is located at 4000 E. 30th Ave., Eugene OR 97405. The telephone number is 541-463-3000. Website: http://www.lanecc.edu/

I know that Rick Hickey will be attending. It would be great for more people to show up and support the position that "illegal is illegal." (something so simple that politicians can't quite get it)

I think that this will be very interesting since LCC is so pro-illegal that it is considered a subject that is off limits.

Also please come show support for the City Councilor, Dave Ralston.
We have Jim Gilchrist (founder Minutemen) coming here on Feb. 3rd to Rally in Springfield, to become the 1st City in Oregon to have new tough Illegal Immigration laws.
No Housing & No Jobs & No Benefits makes Criminals leave.

I have lived in Springfield most of my life and you really don't know much about the city. If you think Councilor Ralston is going to carry the torch for you guys you have another thing coming. He is without a doubt the most ineffective city councilor I have seen in years.

What you should do is schedule a meeting with the mayor, which I am sure you have not, and sit down and talk with him about what it is you want. Don't get on your blogs and jump down his ass, show some courage and actually call and meet with him. You want something to happen in Springfield this is where it begins.

We just passed a major public safety levy that includes building a new 100 bed jail, and it was largely due to his leadership. Got to admit, don't know where Ralston was during the campaign.

I look forward to your reply back stating that you have scheduled a meeting with him.

By the way isn't there an ORS that prohibits cities from enforcing illiegal immigration laws?

181.850 Enforcement of federal immigration laws. (1) No law enforcement agency of the State of Oregon or of any political subdivision of the state shall use agency moneys, equipment or personnel for the purpose of detecting or apprehending persons whose only violation of law is that they are persons of foreign citizenship present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws.

A city can still pass various ordinances that would cause illegal aliens to leave.

dear ANON/STAFF PERSON FOR THE CITY:

You really need an adjustment in your thinking, some of us will not fold when "attacked" by whatever means.

We have already lost in your part of the world..HELL, ITS EUGENE FOR GODS SAKE!

With help from the Oregon Republican Assembly and others in the area, we will meet with the Mayor & other City Councilor's and the Chief of Police soon.
We have a couple other Towns with someone in charge, who are considering similar actions.

Remeber Peter DeFazio scores very highly on the Immigration Enforcement Report Card.

I am glad to add that I read an Attorney opinion dissecting the Judge's ruling on similar laws blocked temporarily in other Cities and he is confident none of these new laws on housing or working via Illegal Alien's are unconstitutional, as the Activist Judge has assumed. When the case is won, it will greenlight every City to copy these new ordinances.

Thank you Lou Barletta, Mayor of Hazelton Penn. for lighting the fire under 50 Cities across America to make these Criminals leave, at their own expense.

Along the same line, isn't it amazing that Salem Keizer School District has been cited for violations of state and federal law in requiring school volunteers to provide SS numbers, but every teacher and administrator must? Whose running the schools, the illegal aliens? Soon it will be push 2 for English.

I'm already expecting that we will push two for English at least part of the time. After all, the present system of pushing one for English suggests that Spanish is not numero uno. This could easily offend Latinos.

Last evening I hit an ATM machine in a Tigard 7-11. When the machine asked me if I wanted English or Espanol, (I hate that)"English" was the second option, below Espanol. Just another indication that the illegals are taking over.
