Air Marshal Kills Erratic Passenger in Miami
An agitated passenger who claimed to have a bomb in his backpack was shot and killed by a federal air marshal Wednesday after he bolted frantically from a jetliner that was boarding for takeoff, officials said. No bomb was found.
The passenger, identified as Rigoberto Alpizar, indicated there was a bomb in his bag and was confronted by air marshals but ran off the aircraft, Doyle said. The marshals went after him and ordered him to get down on the ground, but he did not comply and was shot when he apparently reached into the bag, Doyle said.
First, I'm sorry that someone had to die today. While I don't know the mental state of the man who got shot I do know that the air marshal acted reasonably.
But now I'm going to make a prediction about the results of this incindent. First, the media will pounce on this one with nothing but utter contempt for the air marshal. The "victim" will be the man who was out of control and claiming to have a bomb.
Editorial boards will call for "reviews" of the "process" that is involved in shootings. (I could simply lay it out for them: man threatens lives, man gets shot. But that's too simple and doesn't involve the subtleties of race, socioeconomic status, whether or not the weapon used looks scary and could be called an "assualt" weapon...)
Some windbag congressman will call for the disarming of air marshals. Blah blah blah. Some time passes and BBBBOOOOOMMMMMM.
Same windbags, same editorial boards will be saying "Why didn't Bush do something to protect that plane?"

We love the enviroment, so much that we will let it burn to the ground.

Allegedly intoxicated driver crashes his car
REEDSPORT: A Scottsburg resident was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after crashing on Highway 38 close to midnight Monday.
Gerardo was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, failing to perform the duties of a driver and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

A possible turning point?
Today could be a historic turning point. This could be the day that Republicans finally realize how serious American citizens are about the illegal alien crises.
As I write California's special election is happening. Minutman founder and Independent candidate for congress Jim Gilchrist is running and it seems that Republicans may be voting the illegal alien issue rather than for the schmuck with an -R next to his name.
This is a vote that party strategists will be watching closely.

Recent immigration column was misinformed and irresponsible
Last week there was a very well written opinion piece in the Daily Emerald. Of course, no paper can print a letter, article, or op-ed about illegal aliens without the follow up response of "You're racist" a few days later. See if you catch the theme:

Are all people of color potential terrorists?
The U.S. government is not above acting illegally.
...part of the reason “Mexico’s lack of infrastructure” exists is not its own problem, but rather a result of how the U.S. has exploited this less powerful country over time.
Don’t tell me that American citizens would take these jobs for the same crappy pay and no benefits and hazardous working conditions.
Instead of making any attempt to see people who come here as what they are — human beings — who for the most part come here out of sheer desperation, Ms. Brock turns them into faceless “criminals” and “terrorists.”
It's like talking to a child who heard a "fact" on the school playground and now lives by it. Opposing criminals acts is racist, all the bad in the world is the fault of America, criminals are people too, Americans won't do those jobs, blah blah blah.
It would take 20 minutes of saying "but are they breaking the law" to get this writer to admit that yes, they have broken the law. Another 20 minutes of repeating "but doesn't that make them criminals" would finally get her to concede that yes, that does make them criminals.
So it comes down to the fact that this person is willing to excuse criminal behavior. It's not uncommon, people do it every day. Kids say "record companies make millions, downloading this song/CD isn't stealing" even though it is.
It's part of the "I want it but I'm not willing to pay for it" attitude. It's based on entitlement, you think that you should get something because you somehow deserve to have it. The fact that is may be illegal, wrong, and taking from someone else is irrelevent at that point, you insist that it's ok because if you didn't have what you want it would somehow be "unfair."
In the eyes of God and in terms of right and wrong, stealing a CD or trip into this country is no different that robbing an elderly woman. None of those acts should be justified.

This year 25 growers entered the competition by donating strains and 28 patients served as judges. Strains were evaluated on a scale of 1 to 10 for "appearance," "aroma," "taste," "smoothness (is it easy on your lungs?)", "potency (how strong is the strain?)," and "medicinal effect (how well does it work for your individual condition?)." Medicinal effect was given double weight in the scoring.
"Medicinal effect" is given so much weight because that's the current legal excuse for smoking pot. It's also something that is entirely subjective and unprovable.
More than 70 people attended the panels -including 11 lawyers who will pick Up 5.0 hours' worth of continuing-legal-education credits from the state bar.
Why does the Oregon state bar allow lawyers to go to Hempfest and earn legal education credits?
Oregon law will change on January 1, 2006, when Senate Bill 1085 takes effect. (Its author, State Sen. Bill Morrisette, was thanked profusely at NORML's awards dinner.) Patients and caregivers will be allowed to possess a pound and a half of dried herb and to grow six flowering plants and 18 vegetative plants under one foot tall.
Hey, Senator Morrisette, no thank you from the (not drugged out of our minds) citizens of Oregon, we already voted on that idea and we voted NO!
Do we have to wonder why so many kids are using marijuana when this state has awards ceremonies and Senators who advocate for it's use?

Thanks to a congressional earmark, an open-borders advocacy group that pushes for driver’s licenses, free in-state tuition and healthcare for illegal aliens and bilingual requirements for state agencies and ballots is slated to get $4 million in new taxpayer money to add to the more than $30 million it has received from various federal agencies since 1996.
The author is talking about the National Council of La Raza (The Race) which takes such popular positions like opposing incarceration for criminals and are worried more about how anti-gang laws affect hispanics than how hispanic gangs affect society in general.
Why does congress give this group money? Because they are cowards. Because they are scared of a media that loves to call Republicans racist. Because some politicians will sell their souls for a few votes. That's why.

The new feature, called SafeSend, is available to anyone who has a personal checking account with the Charlotte-based bank (NYSE:BAC).
If you have a bank account with the Bank of Amerimex then close it. Please make sure that your investement portfolio does not include any BofA stock. This simply encourages more money to leave our ecomony rather than be spent and invested here locally. How much money?
Remittance income surpasses oil revenue in Mexico
The Banco de México (Mexico’s central bank) estimates that remittances from Mexicans living abroad will total US$17 billion in 2004...
Upon reaching this amount, money sent by fellow countrymen living abroad will become the main source of Mexico’s foreign exchange...
That is why the Mexican consulate is out there helping their citizens to commit crimes in this country.
Because when an illegal alien comes here (Entry without inspection, 212(a) (6) (A) (I)) and gets a job (illegal under the IRA of 1986, public law 99-603) for which he has to fill out IRS form I-9 (commits perjury on the form) and then also must fill out form W-4 (ID theft of a social security number, or if they are brave then they will apply for an ITIN) to "pay taxes" which if they make less than $30K a year they do not pay any federal income tax.
With the simple commision of those four crimes Mexico gets a huge revenue stream!

But how do I really feel?
Ok, since the illegal alien protest this morning I've walked in the Sherwood parade with the cub scouts, gone to church, and had some whiskey. Time to let loose about what I saw today.
First, I was at the middle school, which was the original location at 8:15am. I was the first one there and after moving to the new location with everyone else I was the last one to leave the protest after 1:15pm. (the criminal supporters cheered when I left)
My commitment to this cause is absolute and I will continue to work on it until every last illegal alien is deported.
That said, today was discouraging for me. Much like drug cartels are constantly finding new ways to move their contraband, the Mexican consulate and state of Oregon found a way to discourage American citizens from preventing illegal aliens from receiving benefits.
At the last protest in Salem I attempted to get into the school where the event was being held. When they told me that I needed an appointment to get in I decided to stand at the gate and make sure that everyone who went in did have an appointment. A lot of people were turned away because of that.
This time the criminal supporters held the event on private property so there was nothing I could do.
It was also discouraging to see so many people out in support of criminal aliens. Not discouraging because I think that they are the majority of public opinion, I know that they aren't, but discouraging like when you realize how many sex offenders there are in this country. The sheer number of people who don't care about the law is mind boggling. Actual quote: "Laws cause crime."
Yes, that was the typical level of intelligence I experienced from the illegal alien supporters. Unlike last time there was some organization and structure to their side. As I said in a previous post it was very clear that instructions not to talk as well as talking points for the media were issued. PCUN even had people in orange vests walking their crowd to make sure that all instructions were followed. I can't count the number of times that people were told not to talk to me.
The orange vests were constantly trying to stand in front of me and turn their backs. This childish display was frequently thwarted by me moving 2 steps to my left or right.
I didn't realize that so many PCUN member read my blog but apparently a lot of them do. They were able to cite posts that I have done about Mr. Gonzales who is a board member of MEChA and a school counselor and I was identified immediatly when I first approached this group by Eric of PFAW as Daniel the conservative blogger. Eric, my invitation for a debate still stands.
While it is very frustrating to watch so many law enforcement officers standing around while there are criminals in close proximinty I realize that Oregon law prevents them from doing anything. That said, I had several good talks with the Woodburn Police.
I will absolutely say that a reduction in illegal immigration will result in an overall reduction in crime.
I anticipate that future events like this will be similair to this one and the schedules will be closely guarded. In a sense it is a victory, we have succeeded in pushing this criminal activity back underground. They can no longer publicize an event and meet anywhere. Good American citizens will show up. Much like hookers are forced into the shadows the aiders and abbetters of illegal aliens have been forced to move to private property and employ socialists and anarchists to parade their support outside their building.
I guess I would finish with a big thank you to everyone who turned out this event. Rick, Jim, Nick, James, Cheryll, Christi, Michael and so many others. You are all great Americans.
And to you who support the illegal aliens: You are cowards, you refused to even tell me why you where there, you refused to take a stand for something that you purport to believe in. I am absolutly confident in my position and will debate with you any time. Your best argument was to flip me off and call me a bigot. Your lack of maturity makes me feel sorry for you and your lack of understanding of this country makes me think that our public schools are failing in their job or you had bad parents. We are a country of laws, you don't get to pick which ones to follow.
As far as I can tell the education of the criminal supporters consists entirely of liberal bumper stickers, ask them for details and they turn their back to you.

I saw KGW's coverage of today's nonsense at 5:30pm. I wasn't impressed. It was nice to see James (Lars' cartoonist) give a statement.
I can't emphasize enough that PCUN has this very well organized. They provided talking points to everyone in attendance. The story was "we need Matricula cards to get back into Mexico." They even had orange vest wearing gestapos outside monitoring their own group to make sure they didn't give any statements to anyone. (I was generally the instigator in starting conversations)
The Oregon Conservative has a great picture of our pro-law abiding group along with me giving a comprehensive statement to KATU. We'll see if they run with it.

I'm not sure I understand what their point is. I'm not an immigrant. I was born here. The term "illegal alien" refers to someone who has broken the law. It isn't the persons existance that is illegal, it's there presence in America.
Illegal alien is a label just like drug dealer is a label. Both are criminals and commit crimes against the law.

Forget to mention, a Woodburn officer had to tell one of the illegal-alien organizers that a member of their groups had a carboard sign that said something about "killing white people" and they should put it away.
I rushed to take a picture but the PCUN folks freaked out and grabbed the sign really fast.
I was also a constant facination to these people. I chose not to stay over in the designated OFIR protest area but instead to try to engage the opposition in conversation. Most people responded with immaturity, some called me bigot or nazi, some ignored me, and some babbled talking points that didn't make sense.
But they were constantly taking my picture and asking me personal questions.
I offered to give the guy with the video camera a statement but he wasn't interested in what I had to say.
I imagine that my picture will be floating around with a "do not talk to" adivsory. Or maybe a "right-wing facist" label. Who knows.

Count the criminals
The head of PCUN told Gabriel Rico of the Statesman Journal that they had about 500 - 700 people today. Here they are:
Somehow, they are able to wait in the line to go inside to get help from the Mexican government and Oregon state agencies, but they are not willing to wait in line to get into this country legally.
And for you supporters that were there, before you tell me that these aren't criminals I would like a statement from you that "There were no illegal aliens at this event." And please, say it with a straight face.

If it's so great, then why don't you go back?
With my adventure into what The Oregonian calls "Little Mexico" (but don't let Kevin Mannix here that, he'll be offended) I noticed a lot of "Mexican pride"
This is laughable because all these immigrants, legal or illegal, have already shown what they think of Mexico... they left. Voting with your feet is a powerful statement and many of these immigrants left behind families, friends, and neighbors. But obviously they thought that America was in some way better and it was worth it to leave that stuff behind.
If you want to argue that you are Mexican, that Mexican culture is better and that the country of Mexico is somehow better then I'm going to ask you to prove it: move to Mexico!

The protest
We'll start with some pictures and captions, then I'm going to eat, then I'll do a lengthy post on the successes and failures of this event. I would also point you to The Cheezer to see more pics of this event. Note that the people holding the red signs are illegal alien supporters. PCUN organized a pretty good group of people who don't mind criminal activity.
This guy was at least polite to me, I had been trying to get a picture of myself with a supporter of illgal immigration all day and no one would. Of course, he though that I was on their side. At this point I was the last protestor (for our side) there.
The guy in the white hat with the camera is Eric from People for the American way. Apparently no one told him that these were Mexicans, not Americans. He was also unwilling to debate, talk to, or take a picture with me. But I'm still interested Eric...

Uhh, no you're not. If you were born in Mexico then you are a Mexican. You are an American. (though I'll concede that you are a bad American)
While the event was originally supposed to be held at the local middle school, it seems that the Mexican consulate was scared enough of OFIR that they had to move the venue to the PCUN building at the last minute.
While I had one or two decent conversations, most of the criminal supporters had the maturity of a 9 year-old.
Again, no one was protesting immigrants, we were protesting criminal aliens. But aside, I had several people insist that illegal aliens pay soooo much in taxes and then in their next sentence talk about their poverty. When I informed them that people making less than $30K a year don't pay federal taxes they would end the conversation.
And I'm not sure what the significance of the Mexican flag is, maybe they pay taxes in Mexico?

GOP Official Urges Caution on Immigrants
Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman urged his party Thursday to oppose rising anti-immigrant sentiments in the debate over border security and illegal immigration, suggesting that the GOP risks being on the wrong side of history and electoral politics alike if it embraces an exclusionary message.
That's fine. We're all getting used to getting the finger from the GOP on this issue. What do I suggest? Only give money to the special interest groups and individual candidates, especially the immigration groups and people like Robert Vasquez and Tom Tancredo. Do not give money to the Republican Party.
If Mehlman thinks that supporting illegal immigration is on the right side of electoral politics then he is an idiot and needs to be replaced. Now.

TOSSUP: Immigrants who pick Oregonians' crops should get the identification due them on Saturday when the Mexican government holds a mobile consulate in Woodburn. Immigration-reform groups and farmworker advocates should stand back and let that happen without turning the event into a showdown.
So people who broke the law coming here should be able to get help from our public servants who will sign them up for government benefits (illegal), help them find work, (illegal) help them get workers comp, (illegal) and get registered to vote. (illegal)
Yeah, it's always a "tossup" for me too deciding whether or not tax dollars should go to help criminals operate. Cancel your subscription.
