Ann Coulter column

Modern Civil Rights: Cockfighting & Same-Sex Proms
Watching TV this week, at first I thought Republican Senate nominee Rand Paul had flown a commercial jet into the World Trade Center. But then it turned out that he had only said there ought to be discussion about whether federal civil rights laws should be applied to private businesses.

But as long as the media are so fascinated with the question of why anyone would want to "discuss" certain aspects of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, maybe they should ask Al Gore why his father was one of the leading opponents of the bill.

Or they could ask Bill Clinton, whose mentor, Sen. William Fulbright, actively supported segregation and also voted against the bill. Or they could talk to the only current member of the Senate to vote against it, Democrat Bob Byrd.

Go read the whole thing. It's what the mainstream media doesn't want you to do.

Well Miglavs, here's the thing: Al Gore's father, Fulbright and Byrd didn't just win Kentucky's Republican Senate primary; Rand Paul did.

I love it when liberals defend bigots. Especially when the show how daft they are by pointing somewhere else. So typical...lol.

My Black relatives are appalled at the sodomites trying to steal away civil rights that were designed for slaves forced to come here.

Taking it up the Ass is not a civil right for adult gay males to take from little boys, it is a filthy, disgusting, and AIDs spreading choice. Or for 2 gay males to Adopt an 8 yr. old boy toy to screw up for life.

I do not want to take a shower with, sleep next to or be in a fox hole or in a submarine with a male that wants to suck my dick and since i'm willing to die for my country, I should not be forced to either.

Don't ask, don't tell just means-keep your perversities to yourself. Keep it the way it is.

Next? The huge expense of seperate military living quarters just for the confused few?

ps, GAY people, I'm not sorry if you are offended by my writings here as you have the "right" to know how most people really think of you and the law says I can say it too.
Most people won't say it to your face but most of us are disgusted by your sexual activities and your Parents are ashamed of you big time and take so long to tell their friends about you for good reason. They had hoped for normal kids and natural grandkids, not a freak like you. AND they blame themselves for your sickening habits.

Once again, without defending anyone, and simply making a statement of fact, the thing is, Al Gore's father, Fulbright and Byrd didn't just win Kentucky's Republican Senate primary; Rand Paul did. The job applicant, in this case, is RAND PAUL. Rand Paul is the one running for office. He is the candidate. He is the one asking for people to vote for him. In an upcoming election. Get it? Sinking in yet? Can you figure it out?

Anon-you're right, that was then this is now. One thing hasn't changed though, Rand Paul and millions of other Americans believe that the Federal government has completely overstepped it's authority and needs to be reigned in. One of the most important aspects of our government system was to allow each individual state a large amount of autonomy and to allow them to be test cases in order to try out different ideas without imposing them on the entire country. If the ideas turn out to be successful they will be adopted by other states, if not they will be ignored. If some aspect of your local states laws were so onerous to you, you could move to a different state that doesn't have that law and still be an American. This philosophy provides a pressure release between the opposing lifestyles that we currently lack. This might explain why we have such a rabid division of ideals today.

I kind of felt the same way when Bush passed the Patriot Act, decided that the government could incarcerate anyone anywhere without giving them recourse and torturing them, because if he ordered it, since he was president, it wasn't illegal

I don't recall the Miglavians sharing my views then. Nice of you to come around, finally, though.

Figures that the bigot skank would defend Rand Paul.

When Bush/Cheney did it, it was fine. When Obama does it, it's "socialism." Reason #3,784 why you guys have no credibility.

Anon-12:45- I feel bad that you seem to only have the capacity to divide people into only two groups, those that agree with everything you say and Miglavians, what ever that is. You have been commenting on this blog for years but you don't seem to have much of a memory. I have on many occasions pointed out on this blog any time I see the constitution being threatened. If I knew of a way to search for my comments on Daniel's blog I would show them to you but the best I can do is direct you to my own blog with the following entries:

March 20, 2007 Bush price fixing.

July 25th, 2007

July 26, 2007-Impeach Bush now.

April 25, 2008-Bush reopening a new Mexican Consulate in New Orleans.

August 01, 2008-Investigate Bush and Cheney.

Sept. 25,2008- Bush's domestic army.

While I would agree that it took me some time to come to terms that Bush was evil, rather than coming around to your point of view I am sorry that you are still stuck in the mindset that liberals are the answer. Some day maybe you will drop the name calling and Bush bashing and realize that neither side has your back.

Now, there's a messed-up jumble, 1245! (1) It was Nixon who said that if the President does it, it isn't illegal. Your timeline is off by 30+ years. (2) Presidents can't "pass" anything. As part of the Executive Branch, the President can sign legislation or veto legislation. That's as far as it goes.

Legislation, such as the Patriot Act to which you refer, is actually crafted and voted upon in both the House and the Senate; in the case of the Patriot Act, passage of the bill was bipartisan, which means that numbers of Republicans and Democratics voted to move it forward. Contrast that with the "health care reform" bill, which was entirely a product of Democratics.
