67% say NO illegal aliens

In case you guys missed the news, an actual poll (read: the citizens get to vote, not a "small sampling") was taken on whether or not Americans want illegal aliens living in their town in Texas:

67% = do not want illegal aliens
32% = do want illegal aliens

This is big news right? Total landslide on a big election issue. I mean, a google news search of "Texas" and "immigration" should pop up a whole bunch of articles right?

Here are the results as of 5-13-07 at 12:19pm

That's 36 articles about the landslide vote to keep out illegal aliens and 58 articles about how a border fence will "interfere with wildlife."

But hey, they are very objective and contain both quotes from proponents and opponents of the measure like the laughable one put out by CBS. Oh wait, no they don't.

Here is the FOXNews version.

There's no poll like an actual vote of the people and illegal aliens lovers everywhere are going to be sadly disapointed by the results. God bless democracy.

Another example today, go to news.statesmanjournal.com, (2nd largest paper in State) scroll down on left and click on-Opinion.

EVERY Letter, Guest Letter (even a Democrat Rep.)& post on thier Blog, is against Illegal Aliens and want LAWS ENFORCED NOW!

That IS the People talking, that IS Americans demanding a STOP to Illegal "Immigration"!
That IS the quiet majority of ALL or NO Party affiliation, not far-right extremeists.

Farmers Branch Texas IS the People.

So far this year, most Democrats represent Illegal Aliens NOT Voters/Paycheck providers-Americans.

Chicago Sun-Times today:
Consider, for example, the post-9/11 ritual of airline security. You have to produce government-issued picture ID to the TSA official. Does that make you feel safer? On that Tuesday morning in September, four of the killers got on board by using picture ID they'd acquired through the "undocumented worker" network in Falls Church, Va. Half the jurisdictions in the United States issue picture ID to people who shouldn't even be in the country, and they issue it as a matter of policy. The Fort Dix boys were pulled over for 19 traffic violations, but because they were in "sanctuary cities," any cop who suspected they were illegals was unable to report them to immigration authorities. Again, as a matter of policy.

On one hand, America creates a vast federal security bureaucracy to prevent another 9/11. On the other hand, American politicians and bureaucrats create a parallel system of education and welfare and health care entitlements, main- taining and expanding a vast network of fraudulent identity that cor- rupts the integrity of almost all state databases. And though it played a part in the killing of 3,000 Americans, leaders of both parties insist nothing can be done to stop it. All we can do is give the Duka brothers "a fast track to citizenship."

The Iranians already are operating in South America's Tri-Border area. Is it the nothing-can-be-done crowd's assumption that the fellows who run armies of the "undocumented" from Mexico into America are just kindhearted human smugglers who'd have nothing to do with jihad even if the price was right? If you don't have borders, you won't have a nation -- and you may find "the jobs Americans won't do" covers a multitude of sins. ©Mark Steyn 2007

67%???? Wait a minute! That's like.... a majority or something?

How come I keep hearing that "the majority of Americans" want immigration reform and are in favor of an amnesty program?? Could the media be (gasp) WRONG???

This is why liberals hate and fear elections so much, their prize positions are failures at the polls: high taxes, amnesty, communist property management, gay marriage, gun control... the list goes on and on.

Well if the politicians in that town are anything like the ones here in Oregon, they'll just say "fuck the voters" and do whatever they want.

Government isn't for "the people" it's for "the elite".

The voters in Farmers Branch, Texas are American heroes.

We won an election, so that proves we're right, and liberal hate elections!

The astonishing depth and sophistication of Daniel Miglavs' political thought continues to shock and awe ...

I'm glad that I continue to "awe" you. I'm sure that you are equally "shocked" by the voters penchant for locking up violent criminals (measure 11) when liberal democrats keep trying to release these predators into our neighborhoods.

It's possible that a small (<30,000 people) town in Texas could be representative of the U.S. population as a whole, but unlikely.

Conservatives care about following the will of the people only when it suits their needss--there were very happy to subvert the will of the people when it came to Oregon's Assisted Suicide law.

Oh, you must mean people who include war criminals right? Wait, that can't be right. There's two in the white house!

I hate you mother fucking left-wingers. Everyone responds on point, then some left wing nut comes in here to attack Daniel for the sake of attacking Daniel, and without ANY valid arguments on the subject I might add. Well here's my message to you.

FUCK YOU

Get a life, loser. Either respond to the topic or shut the fuck up already. Your attempts to bring down the man because you don't like the messenger sicken me. I'd love to beat the ever living shit out of you, you snot-nosed piece of shit.

Actually, I don't think Daniel's past behavior is exactly "off point." After all, Daniel keeps talking about how bad illegal behavior is, while ignoring his past illegal behavior.

Daniel is also insinuating an absurd proposition--that the election results in a small town in Texas is representative of the country as a whole.

"Leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease, was so rare in America that in 40 years only 900 people were afflicted. Suddenly, in the past three years America has more than 7,000 cases of leprosy. Leprosy now is endemic to northeastern states because illegal aliens and other immigrants brought leprosy from India, Brazil, the Caribbean and Mexico."
"The Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons report includes a strong prescription for protecting the health of Americans:

* Closing America's borders with fences, high-tech security devices and troops.
* Rescinding the U.S. citizenship of "anchor babies."
* Punishing the aiding and abetting of illegal aliens as a crime.
* An end to amnesty programs.

Sadly - I fully expect that the measure will be overturned much in the same way voter decisions are overturned here in Oregon...(think M37, M36, etc.)

I'd like to see a prop 187-like ballot measure here. True, it's tied up in the courts in Cali and has had no real effect there, but AZ has a similar bill that I believe is in force. Do it here and we'll find out just how many people are against Oregon's open border policy. I mean, think about it. The way Oregon conducts business, it is clearly and open border and sanctuary state. The only restraint on services offered in Oregon are those that are offered with federal funds where the feds put a clamp on it. If it wasn't for that, there would be no service here that an illegal could not get, which means that we'd all be living the same as a matter of government benefit in this state. Isn't that fucked up? Has to be.
