They will need taxpayer funded stress counseling

California Latinos fearful after immigration raids
Cook Rosa Maria Salazar's eyes dart anxiously to the door as customers file into the Salvadoran cafe in a heavily Hispanic neighborhood near downtown Los Angeles.

"We're terrified. The police could come for us at any time and deport us," she said in Spanish earlier this week as diners fingered maize tortillas stuffed with beans and pork scratchings and chatted softly.

The 55-year-old undocumented worker from Guatemala is among many Hispanics deeply shaken by recent immigration raids at the heart of Latino communities in southern California.

This is just unacceptable. It started with the use of fingerprinting (where burglars and robbers had to worry) and moved to the use of DNA evidence (where murderers and rapists had to really worry) and now even the illegal aliens have cause for concern?

Where is this nation's compassion when our criminals have to live their lives in fear of being caught for their crimes?

On a serious note, look what the affect of some actual enforcement is. If it were sustained enforcement our illegal alien problem would be no more.

How about the 24 Day Laborers that actually approached ICE Agents for work in a parking lot recently.

6 of them had a previous criminal record, one had been deported 4 times, one was a convicted repeat Rapist.

ICE? hello ICE in Oregon? hello?
22 Agents in Portland are doing???

I want ICE to go to the large veggie/fruit proccessing plants in Salem.

2,000 Illegal's gone in one day & just like Cryder foods in GA. & Swift foods-those jobs will be replaced w/Americans or LEGAL immigrants in one week.

Better Pay-Working conditions-Benefits

Less W.I.C./Food Stamps/O.H.P./Unemployment/Crime/METH/Crowded Schools & Jails/E.R. etc. etc. etc. etc.

YES, I know Berries will go up 20 cents a pound but, new workers being paid a 21st Century/American wage will be able to afford it & will PAY their TAXES, with their real S.S.#

BEST RESULT FROM ENFORCEMENT?

SELF-DEPORTATION! It's FREE.

The words "diners fingered maize tortillas" gives me pause.

To think that some might be lettuce harvesters! Gag!

President Bush's plan is dead on arrival as seen from these parts. It's amnesty clear and simple. No matter how many times the pro-amnesty crowd chants otherwise.

Beware of the tactics used by the other side: They are patient, relentless, and ruthless.

And don't be surprised if voices you thought were friendly, turn this go around, to supporters of a penalty exchanged for citizenship for illegal aliens. Also known as amnesty.

They'll even compare traffic court to a penalty exhanged for citizenship and say it's only fair.

And then they will swear it's not amnesty and if you challenge their definition they'll call you an "amnesty screamer"

The political calculators are making different bets this time around.

Don't let their name calling disuade you, because it's a sure sign their arguments can't stand the light of experince and reason.

Experince and reason, and respect for the rule of law, say, enforcement.

Daniel, thanks for the post. In my view, this episode illustrates two points.

One, that consistent, strong enforcement gets the message out on the street. If the pressure is kept up over time it will force illegal aliens to pick up and leave on their own, no cattle cars required. Daniel, if I'm just echoing you, my apologies.

Two, it just shows how sheltered illegal aliens have been by the open borders, amnesty defenders. Illegal aliens believe they can publically complain and recieve sympathy from Americans.

But expect more complaints until enforcement is so consistent illegal aliens give up on main stream media publicity. Then expect a general scurrying back South of the border.

Only Presidential leadership will see enforcement through. Tancredo is good, but I also ask people to look at U.S. Represenitive Duncan Hunter. He supports enforcement and is articulate and savy enough to handle the pressures of the Presidency.

I saw him speak and answer questions and he handled himself very well on many subjects including illegal immigration. He is from California, we could use a Westerner(Tancredo is too.), not East Coast politicians that seem to disapoint on a regular basis(I consider Bush an East Coast transplant.).

Besides Tancredo and Hunter, who actually walks the walk on illegal immigration enforcement.

Romney? He has changed his spots too many times on various subjects to promote my confidence in him.

Duncan Hunter in '08 for President.
Leadership on enforcement.

The true refrain that was yelled out by Texans as they stormed down on Santa Anna and his napping Mexican soldiers at the Battle of San Jacinto was:

"Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad"

Goliad, what's Goliad?

Goliad is the small town where 400 Texans were lined up in front of a church wall and executed in cold blood by Santa Anna after the Texans put down their weapons in response to assurrances of mercy.

Of course, you never hear the second half of the refrain because it's politically incorrect to recall how ruthless the Mexican General was in his treatment of Texans.

That same ruthlessness will be employed by the pro-amnesty forces in today's batlle over illegal immigration.
