The tax man cometh... with gifts for illegal aliens

Since we are approaching tax time I thought that I would once again illustrate the absurdity of our illegal workforce that is tolerated by every level of government.

Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
IRS issues ITINs to foreign nationals and others who have federal tax reporting or filing requirements and do not qualify for SSNs. A non-resident alien individual not eligible for an SSN, who is required to file a U.S. tax return only to claim a refund of tax under the provisions of a U.S. tax treaty, needs an ITIN.
(in so many words: illegal aliens)

ITINs are not valid identification outside the tax system. Since ITINs are strictly for tax processing, IRS does not apply the same standards as agencies that provide genuine identity certification.ITIN applicants are not required to apply in person, and IRS does not further validate the authenticity of identity documents. ITINs do not prove identity outside the tax system, and should not be offered or accepted as identification for non-tax purposes.

So it's a number that is only used by criminals... and there is absolutely no verification or authentication of the person applying. Yeah, that's not a recipie for fraud.

On the W-7 application form there is a big warning:

Applicants with a U.S. visa that is valid for employment should first apply for an SSN with the Social Security Administration (SSA). You are not eligible for an ITIN if you are eligible to obtain an SSN.

And back in 2003 the IRS revised the ITIN program saying:

“About one-quarter of the ITINs issued for tax return purposes never actually find their way onto a tax return,” said IRS Commissioner Mark W. Everson. “The steps taken today ensure ITINs will be issued only to those seeking to comply with their tax obligations.”

Federal law requires individuals with U.S. income, regardless of immigration status, to pay U.S. taxes. The ITIN, a nine-digit number that begins with the number 9, was created for use on tax returns for those taxpayers who do not qualify for a Social Security Number. The IRS has issued 7 million ITINs since 1996.

So remember, if your wages were illegal the IRS still wants to hear from you!

Ok - so I am now changing my position from what it was: "citizenship is rapidly starting to become meaningless" to "being a US citizen is a liability".

If the immigration reform bill is resurrected and does pass, this little tidbit, combined with the "come forward as illegal and pay only three of the past five years back taxes" makes citizenship a real tax liability.

Im getting closer and closer to the point where I want to be one of those riding in the boat and telling it where to go, rather than one of those chumps who just gets to row.

IRS also knows what companies have a large amounnt of workers using ITIN's or Soc. Sec.#'s that don't match.
IRS could share info with Dept. of Homeland Security and clean up this mess, but...

The IRS has only one priority - MONEY. And they don't give one solitary damn about where it comes from or who pays it. They are about as corrupt an organization in the government as ever was, with the possible exception of the AmINOCLU. Daniel's post proves that without a doubt. r huse has it right -- citizenship in the U.S. is meaningless and is becoming more of a liability every day. Between the IRS, the AmINOCLU, and Nancy Pelosi and her gang of crooks and incompetent, self-important, arrogant jerks in the U.S. House, along with Harry Reid and Teddy Kennedrunk in the Senate, maybe it is time to just leave the country for parts unknown and let them ruin the country while pandering to the illegals. I'm thinking that maybe the Gobi Desert would be a good place to settle. Illegally, of course.
