Schwarzenegger Will Veto Licenses for Illegals Law
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- California lawmakers voted Thursday to offer illegal immigrants special driver's licenses, a measure Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to veto.
Supporters said the licenses would make the roads safer because illegal immigrants, many of whom already are driving, would be required to pass driving tests to get them.
And giving condoms to rapists would prevent the spread of STD's but thankfully we don't do that.
But Republican Sen. Tom McClintock argued the measure "sends a powerful message that it is the official policy of this state not to recognize or respect this nation's immigration laws."
Stand proud Oregon, even California is more conservative on this issue than Oregon is. This could also cause an influx of illegals toward our more criminal friendly state.

Fishwrapper upset because gay drug addict won't be honored by high school
Yesterday the Fishwrapper ran this story about how Southridge High School's principal had canceled the play "The Laramie Project." This is of great concern to the media because the play is about a gay man, and if anything involving a gay man is cancelled then obviously bigotry and blind hatred must be involved.
The story ran with quotes such as this:
"Southridge has prided itself on being diverse," said Jason Kniss, a 2005 Southridge graduate. "And if the school district and principal were to take this out, it would conflict with the founding principles there."
And my very favorite from Bill Johnson, Century High theater instructor:
"We looked at it from a discrimination standpoint," Johnson said. "It's a murder story and the victim happened to be gay, and that's why he was killed.
The above quote can only be expained by (1) Mr. Johnson is a liar or (2) Mr. Johnson pays absolutely no attention to the news or (3) the media did such a poor job of reporting the fact that new details came out about the murder of Matthew Shepherd that showed he was killed for refusing to pay his drug dealers, that Mr. Johnson missed this important item. And why did Fishwrapper reporter, Amy Hsuan, allow that quote into her story?

And why did Fishwrapper reporter, Amy Hsuan, allow that quote into her story?
Excerpt:
According to a new ABC "20/20" investigation, which confirms a previously published MassNews exclusive, Shepard's murder was in fact a bungled burglary, motivated not by hate or homophobic rage but by money and drugs.
"Everybody knew Matt Shepard was a partier just like Aaron, just like the rest of us," said Bopp.
In fact, Bopp said he had seen Shepard and McKinney together at parties. "Aaron was selling [drugs] and him and Matt would go off to the side and they'd come back. And Matt would be doing some meth then," he said.
In fact, Bopp said he had seen Shepard and McKinney together at parties. "Aaron was selling [drugs] and him and Matt would go off to the side and they'd come back. And Matt would be doing some meth then," he said.
Not to be deterred by actual facts, Steve Duinn decided to reiterate the point that this play should not have been cancelled in his column today.
Shepard was 21 when he left a Laramie bar with two straight men, who beat him savagely and left him to die on a bitter October night, tied to a buck fence.
While Steve doesn't come out and lie, like Bill Johnson did, he certainly implies that sexual orientation had something to do with this killing when we now know that it did not.
The "we hate anyone who is opposed to hate crimes" crowd doesn't mind repeating false stories, outright lies, or using a drug addict as their poster child as long as it advances their agenda.
The whole point of printing these stories is to bully the principal of Southridge into allowing this play all in the name of "tolerance."

Party Platform
Our Party is a consistent fighter for the unity of our multiracial, multinational, male-female, young and old working class. Our unity must cross all lines of religion, region, and origin. It must encompass immigrants, both legal and undocumented, the unemployed and homeless. We fight to unite people on welfare, workers in all industries and of all income levels, workers in every region of the country. The fight to build the broadest possible unity is our main contribution to today’s struggles.
Our history is steeled in struggles for peace, civil rights, union organizing, social justice, and democracy.
We say: People and Nature Before Profits!
SOURCE
Be honest, you thought that you were reading from the Democrat Party platform. But no, it is from the Communist Party USA. I don't blame you for being confused though, they both sound the same. What does that tell you?
Democrats and Communists: there is no difference!

Pastor faces hearingover 'anti-gay' letter
A Canadian pastor who works with at-risk youth is preparing to face his province's Human Rights Tribunal because of a letter to the editor he wrote calling homosexuality immoral and dangerous.
If Boissoin loses, he could be forced to pay $7,000 in fines, $5,000 to Lund personally and another $2,000 to the homosexual-rights group EGALE Canada.
This is where tolerance, multiculturalism and liberalism take us. When courts call "virtual" child porn "free speech" but speaking out against homosexuality is a crime then we know that liberals are in charge.
Canada's "Human Rights Tribunal" is the same thing as any state run Human Resources department, they will ruin you if you won't conform to their ideas of plurality and tolerance.
I think that we, as conservatives, need to take a different approach in this battle. For too long we have drawn a line in the sand, been scared by the accusations of "bigotry" and given an inch only to be taken for a yard.
It's time to stop being afraid, time to stop conceding small points on a technicality, time to call a spade a spade.
Homosexuality is a sin. Gay men are especially promiscuous, there is a reason that HIV is a gay issue you know. The teaching of homosexuality to children is wrong and homosexual "families" hurt kids. Gays don't want equal rights they want special rights. Anyone who thinks they are "transgender" has a mental disorder. The actual act of "changing" you gender is disgusting.
We should not allow gay marriage and society should frown on same-sex households raising children.
Enough is enough.

Something for liberals to celebrate
The Power of Outrage
The only bright spot in this man-made disaster has been the wave of public outrage at the Bush Administration's abject failure to provide aid to the most vulnerable. Indeed, it is hard to think of a time, other than at the height of the civil rights movement, when the plight of poor black Southerners so deeply stirred the conscience of the nation. Perhaps Hurricane Katrina will go down in history alongside Bull Connor's fire hoses in Birmingham and the Alabama State Troopers' nightsticks at Selma as a catalyst for a new national self-awareness regarding the unfinished struggle for racial justice.
This is the writing of Eric Foner, Professor of History at Columbia University who also happens to be a editor at The Nation.
Somehow Mr. Foner is unable to find a "bright-spot" in the overwhelming generosity that Americans have shown the the people affected by this disaster, nothing positive in number of volunteers who have rushed to help, and nothing heartwarming about people being willing to open their homes to those whose homes have been destroyed.
No, the only "bright-spot" to a liberal is that this event has caused outrage at Bush. Of course any event that causes so-called "outrage" at Bush is a happy event for libs, regardless of whether or not people died or are still dying.
The current discourse for Democrats and the media (one and the same) is not how we can better help those affected, not how we can make the best of the current situation, and not how we could do better next time.
The Democrats want to cry "racist." The Democrats want to blame Bush for the aftermath and say the reason is clearly racism.
They don't really care about how we could do better next time, they want a fall guy for this time. Not usually known as the party of personal responsibility it always amazes me how when a Republican is in charge their demand for accountability suddenly surfaces.
If a high school drop-out shoots drugs, engages in promiscuous sex, shares needles and gets AIDS, the Democrats proclaim him a victim and set about looking for housing, food, and treatment for him. When an uncontrollable natural disaster strikes the Democrats blame say Bush should have done some better.
While the act of not even trying is actually a badge of honor in the Democrat party, ("I'm a proud single mother") Republicans must not only try their best, they must achieve perfection. (You mean there are casualties in a war?)
But you know what, no matter if you point out that the Governor of Louisiana didn't follow the states emergency plan, didn't use the public buses to evacuate those who couldn't get themselves out, did allow the Red Cross to bring in lifesaving food, water and medicine, even after you point out all these things the liberals will simply cry racist.

If it's bad for small business then why isn't it bad for everyone?
Oregon Increases Protections For Small Business
Oregon's small businesses may experience a friendlier regulatory environment, thanks to a new law that gives Oregon small businesses a voice in the state's regulatory process.
Specifically, the new law enhances Oregon's administrative procedure laws by including a requirement that state agencies analyze the economic impact of a proposed regulation on small business before they regulate. It also requires state agencies to conduct a review of existing rules every five years to ensure the rule has had its intended effect and that there is a continued need for a rule. The addition of HB 3238 to Oregon's existing regulatory flexibility laws completes a good regulatory framework for small businesses in that state.
"This bill enacts a long-sought reform: that when state agencies make a rule, they should consider its impact on small businesses," said House Speaker Karen Minnis.
Don't get me wrong, this is a great idea and I'm glad that this bill was passed. But I'm wondering, if everyone recognizes that excess regulation is a problem then why not just eliminate excess regulation?
Why does government create asinine laws only to pass more laws to negate the affects of the previous laws? If they have to spend so much time fixing problems that they create maybe they should take a step back and ask themselves how they can avoid creating the problems in the first place.
This article has quotes from Kulongoski, Minnis, and Thatcherexaltxhalt this new bill as the savior of small business from the burden of regulation. That's great but what about the rest of us? What about homeowners? What about large business? What about builders?
If we recognize that over-regulation causes a problem for small business then the next step is to realize that it causes a problem for everyone.

Random thought for Thursday night
Driving home from work today I witnessed a state worker who was practically asleep while holding the "stop/slow" sign to direct traffic in a construction area. (Rest assured I will drive that way again except with my camera) During the rest of my commute where I was going 20mph in a 45 zone I got to thinking, instead of paying someone $14/hour to sleep while holding a sign why don't we instead pay a homeless guy minimum wage to sleep why holding a sign?
If liberals were really serious about helping the homeless then they would happily sacrifice a few union jobs to give people a hand up. Not likely...
In only four days we begin confirmation hearings for John Roberts. Since even the media is conceding defeat on this one I think that we should start our campaign to let Bush know we need a reliable conservative to fill the other open seat on the court.

FRC has a short and sweet ode to Renquist that is worth reading.
OFF is reporting that gun confiscation has begun:
"NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 8 - Waters were receding across this flood-beaten city today as police officers began confiscating weapons, including legally registered firearms, from civilians in preparation for a mass forced evacuation of the residents still living here."
Real good idea, lawless gangs are raping, killing, and looting so government decides to disarm the law abiding citizens. I'd like to know who made this decision. One more reason to buy and sell privately so that the gun grabbers don't have reliable registration lists.
With regards to racism, which is a charge being thrown around frequently due to the hurricane, I have a question for the media and the democrats: how come you never talk about the Asians?
When you talk about about academic performance it's always "blacks and Hispanics" lag behind whites. Why don't they discuss Asians? Is it just because they are successful or is it because they don't like the reason for their success? The fact that Asians generally have a traditional family (married dad and mom) and emphasize hard work and success shows what works.
This is in contradistinction to "cultures" that emphasize using broken English and dressing like gang members and don't seem concerned with 75% out-of-wedlock birth rates. Wonder why those guys aren't doing so well...
I had quite a few more random rants for tonight but blogger ate my post. *dons tin-foil hat* "Blogger is part of a vast left-wing conspiracy that has been out to get me since... well, since I started have delusions of grandeur." Goodnight.

Atkinson for Governor
Everyone should go to Gullyborg's website and read about his meeting with Oregon's next governor, Jason Atkinson. It sounds very encouraging.

Does a surrogate womb have to pay child support? Sperm donors get visitation rights?
Legal Rep Referencing Federal DOMA in Interstate Same-Sex Civil Union Custody Controversy
(AgapePress) - The chief counsel for Florida-based Liberty Counsel says oral arguments in an important child custody case will be presented before the Vermont Supreme Court today. The case involves Lisa Miller, a former lesbian who traveled to Vermont to obtain a civil union with her partner while they were living in Virginia. Miller later gave birth to a child through artificial insemination.
Remember when babies had a mom and a dad? Now they have surrogate wombs with donated sperm and two dads with no biological relation. Most of us recognize that the mom and dad situation was designed by God and it the best way for a kid to come into this world. You liberals that insist the second situation is normal have your head in the sand.
The couple later broke up, and now Miller's former partner, Janet Jenkins, is demanding visitation rights to the child. Vermont law recognizes Jenkins parental rights while Virginia law does not. But Miller, now a Christian, has not allowed Jenkins to see the child and Vermont courts have found her in contempt.
This is part of the argument against gay marriage. Child custody disputes are difficult enough when you have two biological parents. When you throw in the donated eggs and sperm and surrogate wombs and all that nonsense it only complicates things, legally and for the child.
Miller v. Jenkins is unique in that it represents the first time the courts of two states have issued conflicting decisions over the same same-sex union case. It is also the first case in the U.S. courts to involve dueling federal laws.
Vermont says one thing, Virginia says another. This has the ingredients for a Supreme Court case.
It is long overdue for President Bush to push for a constitutional amendment to preserve traditional marriage. Many of us voted for him thinking that he would follow through with that issue after the election. Our side enjoys popular support among our citizens and now is the time to settle this issue in Congress rather than in the courts.

The First Thing We Do Is Kill All the Lawyers -- William Shakespeare
For those of you who were listening to the Lars Larson show today during the 2:00pm hour you heard a horrible story about a child rapist who wants post conviction relief. Part of that process involves deposing (interviewing) his victims.
His victims are all developmentally disabled and were severely traumatized by the abuse that was done to them. Subjecting these kids to sitting in the same room with the man who raped them and having to answer any and all questions thrown their way would victimize them further.
The lawyer who is asking for deposition is Tracy McGovern of Medford. Here is her contact info:
2592 E. Barnett Road
Medford, OR 97504

fax541-779-6379
Keep in mind that in my opinion this woman wants to subject mentally retarded kids to further torture at the hands of a rapist. I hope that she goes on Lars' show to tell us why she thinks that this is ok.

Back to school boondoggle
Many parents are celebrating "back to school" this week. They are celebrating the fact that our kids are going to government schools to be taught values that frequently conflict with the values taught at home.
They are celebrating even though our kids are used a political pawns to get more money for the unions. They celebrate despite the fact that the curriculum is consistently dumbed down and "self-esteem" has become more important than being successful.
Where did things go wrong? Right here:
CHRONOLOGY OF KEY STATEWIDE INITIATIVES IMPACTING CULTURAL COMPETENCY
1980s: Underrepresented minority scholarship programs implemented by Board of Higher Education: Portland Teacher Program, Underrepresented Minority Undergraduate Program.
1998: Joint Boards of Education (Board of Education/Board of Higher Education) consider diversity in the educator workforce, recommending this as an important common issue for multiple boards/groups to address and proposing the development of an "Action Plan for Diversity in the Educator Workforce."
2000: Board of Higher Education expands its definition of diversity to move beyond definitions categorizing underrepresented people by race/ethnicity.
2004: Oregon Mexico Education Partnership (OMEP) agreement to bring Spanish language content materials to Oregon students while they continue to learn English. Also includes adult education opportunities for parents of migrant students.
2005: New standards for administrative licensure (currently before Teacher Standards and Practices Commission; proposed for January 2006) include knowledge, skills, and dispositions related to equity and cultural competence in leadership, instructional improvement, effective management, inclusive practice, ethical leadership, and socio-political context.
If you look at the list (not just the examples provided here) you see that during the 70's and 80's there wasn't much going on, we saw and increase in the 90's and things have just taken off in 2003 and 2004.
Thirty years from now I would like to see a list that shows the school choice battles we have won. We can list charter schools, support for homeschooling, NCLB, choice between government schools, and finally we would end up with public education that let's parents decide whether to send their child to a government school, parochial school, or anything in between.

Fishwrapper editorial board: We're progressive, we just don't like change
Chief Justice John Roberts?
It's too early to say whether the Senate should confirm John Roberts for the Supreme Court, but President Bush made the right call Monday in nominating him to replace William Rehnquist as chief justice.
This confirms my suspicion that Bush made a bad call. He should have nominated Thomas or Scalia.
Just as important, it would mean that neither Antonin Scalia nor Clarence Thomas would be the next chief justice. The elevation of either man to the chief's post would guarantee a bitter fight in the Senate, since both are firebrand conservatives with clear intentions of overturning long-established constitutional rights.
Oh wait, the Fishwrapper advises against those two. Why? Because they have "clear intentions of overturning long-established constitutional rights." Let's not beat around the bush, they are talking about abortion.
But before we talk about abortion let's discuss some other "long-established" rights that were established but wisely overturned.
Slavery. The Dred Scott case was a Supreme Court ruling much like Roe v Wade. It said that everyone is equal but some aren't citizens and therefore have no rights.
Segregation. Brown v. Board of Education was a complete reversal of a "long-established" yet awful policy.
We can only hope that Roe v. Wade, which established that women have the "right" to kill an unborn baby for any reason, will be revisited and reversed. Much like blacks during the time of the Dred Scott decision, we now have a group of people, the unborn, who are seen as having no rights and are subject to ownership.
I truly hope that fifty years from now we will look back on this time in American history and see abortion in the same light as we now see segregation, as a shameful time for our society, and that we are thankful that a court decision made right the wrong that our society did to so many people.

So many items
I few quickies this morning.
Here's the unofficial Tancredo for President website. For any of you who are looking for some good background info or yet another reason why this man should be in charge then check it out.
Back to school special: With many kids going back to school today to learn reading, writing and arithmetic... oh wait, let me start over. With many kids going back to school today to learn diversity, multiculturalism and why America is bad (to be taught in Spanish) I thought that I would share this tidbit from an ODE memo:
Programs that are promoted as “abstinence-only” or “abstinence-only until marriage” do
not meet the requirements of Oregon sexuality education laws (Oregon Revised Statute
336.455, Oregon Administrative Rule 581-022-1440)
The Oregon Department of Education recommends that all human sexuality and
HIV/AIDS curriculums be reviewed; abstinence-only until marriage, abstinence only and
abstinence based, to ensure they contain accurate medical information, are not ethnic
and culturally biased or gender biased.
So if your wondering why so many teenage girls are pregnant, there's your answer.
Oregon Senator Vicki Walker has announced that she plans to challenge Sleepy Ted in the Governors race. She is touting herself as the "average Oregonian." Ted's response was: zzzzzzzzzz. You can also tell who the media doesn't like because of this paragraph:
The Republican primary race is likely to be a rematch of 2002 between former state Republican Party Chairman Kevin Mannix and Portland lawyer Ron Saxton. State Sen. Jason Atkinson also is running.
Atkinson gets an afterthought from the Seattle PI. How nice.
And yes, Metro, in it's unending quest to spread "multiculturalism" (read: everyone is better than America) has this item: Oregon Zoo Hosts Multicultural Festival Of Animals. No word on whether or not the gay sheep from OSU will be on display.

Absent from the media
Modern media is obsessed with polls. They have polls for everything and they are usually done instantly after an event.
They are also almost always biased in wording so that the media outlet can get the answer that they are looking for rather than really put their finger on the pulse of America.
The other bias is simply a lack of a poll for something. Other than outlets like WND showing this we are not seeing who is happy about the hurricane in the south. I would love to see a poll from our "friends" in France (or any country) asking "Who thinks that America got what she deserved?" I think that the results might show us that the French (or any country) aren't our friends after all. Are the Palestinians that the liberals love so much dancing in the streets like they did after 9/11? How about a poll in Palestine?
The other poll that is obviously missing is the illegal alien poll. Try as they might the media is being forced to cover stories about the publics anger over the illegal alien issue, but no polls asking exactly what percentage of the population wants our borders closed and every last illegal deported. Again, the media wouldn't like the answer.

The new amnesty zone
Mexico: U.S. won't prosecute illegal migrants affected by Katrina
The United States has agreed with a request from Mexico to not prosecute undocumented Mexican migrants affected by Hurricane Katrina who recur to U.S. officials for help, President Vicente Fox said Friday.
"In this way, they can receive help from the American authorities, they can approach the authorities to point out what they've lost and, above all, to ask for support."
Fox urges migrants to seek assistance
In a telephone interview, Remedios Gómez Arnau of the Mexican consulate in Atlanta said there are about 30,000 Mexicans in Mississippi and about 70,000 in Alabama. Yet, he was unsure of how many Mexicans were affected because of communication difficulties.
Who has the authority to declare that illegal aliens in this area will not be prosecuted or deported? Who can simply decided that the law does not have to be enforced? Some low levelbureaucratt? Congress? I don't think so. This has got to have the approval of Bush.
I understand that officials may want everyone to feel free to seek help but what if someone has a felony warrant for burglary? You know, burglary, they broke into someone else's property and stole stuff that didn't belong to them. *cough* Do they not have to worry about their warrant? Is their crime simply erased? Or should they still be arrested and prosecuted?
With all the lawlessness we have seen in that area following the storm you would think that the response would be more enforcement todemonstratee a zero tolerance for crime and violations of the law. Instead our government has said that hundreds of thousands of crimes will now go unpunished.

We can help the illegal aliens with their basic survival and medical needs but we should not ignore their crimes against this country.

Immigration two-fer
Rep. Tancredo Predicts GOP Immigration Clash
President Bush and House conservatives are on a collision course over the contentious issue of immigration reform, Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) said Thursday.
Tancredo said he would rather have no bill than one granting amnesty, and he vowed he won’t back down from Bush. “Believe me, it will be one hell of a fight,” Tancredo said. “I guarantee you, I and everyone I can muster will be as aggressive as we can to stop it.”
Time to pick sides people. Are you a conservative who believes in borders, language, culture or are you a Republican who believes that just because Bush has an -R next to his name we shouldn't go after him like a pack of hyenas.
I'm with Tancredo!
Rick Hickey from OFIR was kind enough to email this story to me. Lars also touched on it during the week.
DMV worker fights firing
Last month, Dallas DMV office manager LaVay Jeffries was accused of racial profiling and fired.
He says that he was doing his job, trying to keep someone from obtaining an Oregon driving permit under false pretenses.
"I became suspicious, as this was beginning to look like someone possibly engaged in illegal activity, perhaps drugs or helping people get false Oregon ID," Jeffries wrote in an affidavit.
Jeffries apparently didn't realize that criminals, especially illegal aliens, are a favored constituency of the party of big government who must be protected at all costs.
This was not the first time Jeffries has called police when he suspected customers of criminal activity. On April 27, 1999, Fereja Seifu was arrested after Jeffries called police because he suspected Seifu of trying to obtain false Oregon ID cards for Abdulah Ahmed K. Alqubaisi, Hamad Sayah Al Mazrouei and Mansour Almulla.
Seifu stood trial later that year, and he was convicted of the sale of documents for purposes of misrepresentation.
But the three Saudi nationals who'd been with him fled the country.
This DMV worker may have prevented a terrorist attack on this country.
After the May incident, Jeffries was informed that what he had done constituted racial profiling, misrepresenting himself as a DMV employee, disregarding the chain of command and using DMV records for personal reasons.
He was subsequently terminated. His union is appealing the decision.
Typical government agency. Fire the guy who is actually good at his job and provides a service to the public. Keep the idiot who has the constant scowl and does the bare minimum asked.
"I do believe that the DMV has an obligation to the people of the State of Oregon to make sure to the best of their ability that the people getting licenses and IDs are providing authentic documentation," McIntosh said.
The DMV doesn't believe that. They believe it is a law enforcement issue.
Let's all remember that the next time we see a DMV employee getting assaulted. We shouldn't do anything to stop it because it's a law enforcement issue.
What we need is to fire everyone who works at the DMV like Reagan did the the air traffic controllers. Get rid of all of them. Then put LaVay Jeffries in charge. Hire people who won't turn a blind eye to lawbreaking and who will do their best to protect the public.
Any worker, in any field, who feels that a customer, vendor, contractor, etc is stealing from their company should report it. No one in the private sector would be fired for trying to protect their employers interests and turning in criminals.

DMV administrator Lorna Youngs said she regards Jeffries' actions as "outside the scope of his position," saying that it is not the responsibility of DMV employees to "conduct independent criminal investigations."
A search of the government directory doesn't reveal contact info for the other jackass, William Halsne, but if any of you find an email adress or phone number please leave it in the comments and I will post it.
*Update*
A commentor has offered the email address William.L.Halsne@state.or.us for Mr. Halsne. I also heard Rep Jeff Kropf, who is filling in for Lars today, talk about Lorna Youngs. He said she is known for opposing all methods of preventing illegal aliens from getting drivers licenses. She opposes the Real ID act and apparently has no interest in enforcing the law. Thanks to those of you who emailed her and CC'd the email to me. Rest assured that she got a letter from me.

Planned Parenthood uses hurricane to fundraise... for themselves
While the rest of us are concerned with rescuing those who are stranded, getting water and food to the needy, and sending lifesaving medical care to the injured the folks at Planned Parenthood have a different concern:
From an email:
With a heavy heart, I must tell you that this devastation has directly reached the Planned Parenthood family. Our health centers in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama stand in various states of disarray and disaster.
Your immediate help is urgently requested. Please make an emergency gift today to help the women, children, and men caught in this disaster. I pledge to you that 100% of your gift will go directly to the Planned Parenthood affiliates and health centers in the affected region — so that they can serve the women, children, and men who have nowhere else to turn.
That's right. Everyone else is calling for donations to the Red Cross or Salvation Army so that we can save lives and Planned Parenthood is calling for donations to themselves so that they can kill more babies. How nice.

Writer claims responsibility for Bellingham slayings, warns other offenders
The investigation into the slaying of two Level 3 sex offenders in Bellingham has taken a twist with an anonymous letter claiming responsibility for the killings  and threatening the county's other high-risk offenders.
Kit Bail, supervisor of the DOC's field offices in Whatcom County, said the letter was alarming. "The threat was pretty clear: These are 25 people that should not be on the street. It named names," she said.
Police say one possible motive was vigilante justice, though that is not the only motive being considered. The killing nonetheless unnerved Chad Pyles, a 24-year-old convicted of rape, who lives three blocks from the homicide.
"If they went after a couple of senior citizens, why not me?" said Pyles, a Level 3 offender.
Ofelia Ayala, mother of another Whatcom County Level 3 sex offender, said her son called her last night after learning of the letter. He was scared and asked for money to buy a cellphone to use in case of an emergency, she said.
I stand behind my position from my earlier post. These killings have had just the effect that they should have. Now it's the raping, molesting, sodomites who are scared instead of their neighbors and women who jog alone at night.
The deterrent factor is also huge. Who wants to commit a sex crime and have their name and address put on a public list that is potentially a hit list? The other possibility is that these people absolutely can't control themselves and there is no possible deterrent. If no future consequence will stop these rapists from offending then what is the solution? Government refuses to provide for public safety after the first offense as they keep letting these guys out.
The local news last night on FOX 12 during their "most wanted" segment featured a violent sex offender who had violently raped 3 different women and he just recently walked away from a half-way house in Portland and is loose on the street. One of the women he raped needed reconstructive surgery on her face and genitals because of this man.
It's interesting here how the Seattle Times doesn't describe the crimes of the two level 3 sex offenders that they talk about. Instead they choose to humanize them by showing us how "scared" they are and having one of their mothers talk about him.
Really, they didn't even tell us what the second offender had been convicted of. Molesting 6 year olds? Violently raping teenagers? Repeat offender? No mention of victims here other than this poor poor sex offender whose mom says he's scared. The Times made him the victim.
I hope that he is scared. I hope that he never leaves his house. I hope that it's a prison for him because that's where he should still be.
