Joy of technology

I'm boycotting any restraunt that has "automatic paper towel dispensors." It was bad enough when we got the blow dryers that don't really dry your hands but now we have to stand their waving our hands (looking like an idiot) in front of a machine in hope that it will have mercy on us and give us a small square of paper towel. This isn't progress.

what's worse are the auto-flushing toilets...that don't auto sense.

No...heres the clincher: Automatic Cash Register Order taking machines. they look kind of like an ATM, but you walk up, touch the screen and select your order, swipe your debit card or insert cash, and then somebody brings the food to your table. Here's the problem....they still have to pay some nitwit to stand next to the machine in case you have quesstions. Why can't he just take my order instead of me having to navigate my way through the sensless and somehow complicated touch-screen menu?

Waste of time, manpower, and money.

Closeted Homosexual Anti-immigrant racists wash thier hands after using the toilet? Daniel, You have truely surprised me today.

Oooh, I didn't realize "immigrant" is now a race.

What's really really funny to me is that the trolls who spend their days posting sad, anonymous insults here are by any measure smaller and more insignificant than the author of the blog they lurk about...

The Washington County Sheriff’s department reported yesterday that search warrants executed on three houses and five vehicles in Cornelius led to the arrests, which were made in two sweeps.

The search warrants were obtained based on information gathered during an investigation that over the last month led to the seizure of 5,500 marijuana plants in three northwestern Oregon counties

In most cases, police said, the grow operations were guarded by armed men who were sleeping in the vicinity of the marijuana gardens. Some of the grow operations were being carried out on Bureau of Land Management land. The rest of the marijuana was found on private forest land. Officials said none of the land was owned by Stimson Lumber, Co., one the largest private landowners in the area.

Israel Tinoco-Cervantes, 31, was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, Veronia Carrera-Garcia, 21, and Adriana Jacobo-Ortiz, 31, were charged with conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance, and Maul Nieto-Velasquez, 21, was charged with frequenting a place where controlled substances are used.

Later in the day, Jesus Tinoco-Cervantes, 20, Agustin Tinoco-Cervantes, 22, and Jose Magdelano Tovar-Perez, 22, were arrested and charged with manufacturing and distributing a controlled substance.

According to Washington County Jail records, Immigration and Customs Enforcement holds have been placed on Nieto-Velasquez and Israel, Jesus and Augustin Tinoco-Cervantes.

In addition, Israel Tinoco-Cervantes was taken into custody by U.S. Marshalls on a drug-related federal warrant yesterday and was booked at the Multnomah County Jail.

Several law-enforcement agencies participated in the investigation and execution of the warrants, including the Westside Interagency Narcotics team (a coalition of Westside police agencies and the national guard), McMinnville Police, Newberg Police, the Yamhill County and Tillamook County Sherriff’s Offices, Oregon Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Agency, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Bureau of Land Management and two SWAT teams.

Having been in food service and the medical industry, I have to disagree with you Daniel. People touch that paper towel dispensor with dirty hands. If you wash your hands and then touch it, you have just contaminated your hands. Most major illness is from poop. Most people don't wash their hands or just rinse them and then grab a paper towel or touch the doorknob. You walk up and touch it and you will now be pooping and vomiting for days. Auto feed towels help reduce the risk. And this reduces the chance of the cook or server from spreading the disease as well. They aren't perfect, but they are a step in the right direction to having a sanitary food service worker.
Now if we could just get them to throw their TP in the toilet instead of the trash like they do in mexico...

I like the pull dispensors where the only think I touch is the paper towel. I then use the last one to grab the doorknob.

And I'm full of suprises.

I solve this problem by not washing my hands.

They don't get dirty in the bathroom because I don't pee on them.

And in fact, our society's obsession with sterilization and germ removal has made us weak.
