Job funtion: to enact socialized medicine

Job Title: Program Analyst 2 - (Newborn Screening Follow-Up Coordinator)
Salary: $3,727.00 - $5,442.00 Monthly

This position works on behalf the Oregon Health Authority. The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is a new state agency created by House Bill 2009 during the 2009 regular legislative session. The OHA will transform the state's system to make quality health care accessible and affordable for every Oregonian. The ultimate aim of the OHA is to ensure access to health care while making changes that will stem rising costs, improve quality and promote good health. Ultimately, OHA is charged with delivering a plan to the Legislature to ensure that all Oregonians have access to affordable health care.

PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING US!

The Oregon Department of Human Services/Oregon Health Authority is committed to affirmative action, equal employment opportunity and workplace diversity.

Affirmative action and equal opportunity are not compatible. Which is it? Do you affirmatively hire women and minorities or are you committed to equal opportunity?

Liberals have succeeded in creating a new state agency, the OHA, who have jobs that are taxpayer funded and whose sole purpose is to socialize medicine in Oregon.

That is a lot of money. Probably another 50% is hidden in PERS and other benefits. It doesn't seem right that taxpayers who earn less then half this are taxed into poverty to pay bureaucrats outrageous salaries like this.

We need a ballot measure to limit all state pay. I suggest that the average state wages cannot exceed the average private wages in the state. I think that is about $38k. Since our legislature won't stop spending us into bankruptcy the voters need to do something.

Great, another state agency. We need less government, not more.

In Oregon...

Median Wage = $31,000 + 0 benefits

(Lowest in the nation next to MS.)

Median Wage - Or. Gov't employee = $40,000 + $12,000 in Benefits/PERS

Problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money...over $3.5 BIL. in debt here...After massive TAX/Fee increases...PROVES that we are running out of other peoples money...then what do we do?

Anon- I believe that your numbers are a bit off. I think that most people that have a median wage of $31,000 probably have some sort of benefits (some health care and a small company contribution to a 401K.)
Also I think that the benefits of Or. government workers are probably higher. More in the line of equal to their salary if you include paid vacations, holidays and retirement contributions.

Anon. PS-if you have any creditable sources on these numbers I would be interested.

Anon 9:16, your numbers don't tell the entire story.

Government jobs require a 4-year college education to a much greater degree than private sector jobs. In addition, people tend to have more time-in-service with government jobs, which would naturally mean they are making more money.

Combine these two facts, and one would expect that government workers make more money on average.

That's the problem with comparisons like these...BOTH sides tend to conveniently exclude relevant information when trying to mke a point about who makes more. I can show you studies that suggest government workers make more, and I can show you studies that suggest private sector workers make more. It really all depends on what point I'm trying to make, now doesn't it?

I can tell you one thing from personal experience: for jobs that require a high level of professional experience and education, government jobs tend to pay FAR less than private sector jobs, even when you add in the benefits. I make almost $200K a year in the private sector. If I did my job in the public sector, I would make approximately $96K year.

Like I said, unless you account for ALL variables, these public/private wage comparisons often tend to be laughably meaningless and partisan-driven.
