Next: keep a rock in your shoe

Households take up challenge to be chilly
In Laura Nichols' Maplewood, N.J., home, Poochie the dachshund is a hot commodity.

Nichols and her four teenage children vie for the use of the 30-pound dog as an overnight leg warmer to stave off the 50-degree chill in their home.

Once again, Nichols has entered a local Internet message board's "furnace abstinence" contest where bragging rights and an iceberg-shaped trophy are at stake for those who can go the longest without turning on their furnaces.

Run on an honor system, some challenges, such as the one in Maplewood, dare households to go cold turkey for as long as possible. Using space heaters and fireplaces is allowed.

The reward is knowing that participation in the challenge means helping the environment and saving on heating costs, Duke says.

This trend of "let's suffer for the planet" would be funny if there weren't people in government who believe that putting sterilants in drinking water might be necessary to lower the population.

Saving money on YOUR heating bill is a great idea if you so choose but don't use the power of government to turn down MY furnace.

sure let it fall another 20 degrees and pipes start busting and lets see how they feel about it...oh yeah, also when DHS comes and takes their kids away for not providing them with a warm home.

Why stop with a rock in your shoe. Cut all your toes off.

Sterilants in water to lower the population? LOL! Dare I ask what conspiracy theory web site you pulled that from?

Keep laughing about climate change, Migavs. When all is said and done, nature gets her way. I abso-fucking-lutely guarantee it.

Both of you have good ideas. The cutting off of toes made me laugh. I think we should take the people who believe in global warming who also failed first grade science and turn off their heat. This would also apply to every politician and their immediate family memebers.

Okay Dave, I took a deep breath and a short walk after reading your post before sitting down to put my eyeballs back in my skull and post a response, because I didn't want to just cut loose with a bunch of insults, which really doesn't serve any purpose, but I do want to make sure I am absolutely clear on what you are saying and what you believe, because I really am trying desperately to understand this perspective you have, so humor me:

Are you actually saying that you believe that global warming (i.e., the increase in average temperature of near-the-surface air and oceans) has not happened and been scientifically documented on this planet over the last 100 years? That it simply flat-out has not happened and is not happening? Is that what you believe?

frankly, if your are stupid enough to believe that every breath you take is killing the planet, then you personally should stop breathing. Dont think of asking others...just take one for the team and end it all now.

Anon 3:30, post a link please to an original textual source (not, in other words, 'Lars said,' or 'Glen Beck said,') that gives the entire statement that Mr. Holder allegedly said, so we can see whatever it was he actually said (if he said anything at all) in the proper context, and not simply from the right-wing ass you pulled it out of. Thanks.

What's the problem, baby? Don't know how to use search engines and so expect everybody to spoon-feed you, burp you, and wipe your little bottom?

Take a look at The Bama's "czar" lineup. Most of them are dirty. Holder, Kevin Jennings, and the list goes on. Take a few seconds to do a little work, and open your eyes.

Oh God, this is shaping up to be another "FBI/INS Statistical Report," the phantom document that Miglavians were insisting a couple of years ago proved one of their whacked-out theories, and when asked repeatedly to direct the curious to an actual copy, they never produced. Why? Because, and this is kinda important: No such document existed anywhere. So I'll breathlessly wait for the Miglavians to produce John Holder's Master Population Control Plan, probably filed next to the one stamped Top Secret, ominously and unambiguously titled, "How I Plan to Kill Every Republican In America," by Barack Obama. Maybe Anthony DeLucca can help you on this mission, Max. Good luck. We're counting on you. Oh, and pssst! Be careful ... don't drink the water!

LOL ... looks like the Miglavians have stood down and moved on.

Jesus Christ! Every one of those links is to some whacked-out right-wing "news" site, referring to an obscure academic text that was written by two other people in 1977 that's over 1,000 pages long and is so out-of-print that it can't be purchased for less than $500! Who knows what the fuck it actually says? Or whether he even bears any resonsibility whatsoever for the snippet of a paragrah you're plucking out of a THOUSAND pages. But God, you must be right. It must be true, because Glen Beck said so, and whata reliable source of factual information he's turned out to be. LOL!!! Fucking morons. Tell me, did you also believe in the tobacco industry scientists who assured us all decades ago that there was no link between tobacco use and cancer? Hell, I'll grant it's an interesting quote and I would be curious to see what the actual context is, but you know what? I don't think I'm going to add it to the list of things I'm concerned about. Hell, if we can all survive eight years of neo-fascist Bush and Cheney, we'll certainly get through a few years of Obama. Chill out already and grow the fuckup.

I do think you need to take your own advise , that is GROW UP YOURSELF !!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Oh, er .. excuse me. Didn't mean to make light of it all. Of course, you're right. Must grow up, yes, definitely. OK: This Holder sounds like a very dangerous fellow. We must take steps. So tell me: How are you dealing with the situation? Have you taken any protective measures? Bottled water, maybe? Or is that even safe? What do you suggest?
