Last chance

Ben Nelson has received his bribes. Government takeover of health care will pass unless we can get a Christmas miracle. Make those calls, send those emails and faxes.

If this health care bill is all that and a bag of chips, then why did they all vote to exempt themselves? Really, why haven't every single democrate jumped up to run to the front of the line to sign up? Could it be they are nothing more then hypocrites? Perhaps in their eyes some are more equal then others.

Oh for crying out loud, Daniel, do you even know anything about the health care bill? Anything? That bill isn't going to have the government "taking over" health care any more than Obama is going to try to take your guns. [Anti-Miglavian Reality Check: To date, Obama has not pushed any of the half-assed gun control measures he promised during the campaign.] Both total Miglavian-style fantasties. I assure you, our health care system will remain firmly and absolutely in control of profiteering corporations. You can sleep easy; government will continue to stand aside while corporate medicine, insurance companies and Big Pharm fuck you up the ass.

I do think you should read the bill and then listen to the people writing it. Most of them all say that this is just a way to get there foot in the door , to get what they realy want . Goverment ran health care ( that should read goverment control over your life , ) I do think they should take away your ky jelly and let you take it up your ass dry .!!!!!!!

I have always wondered why congress exempts themselves from such wonder health care. I guess it's not good enough for them. They are elites you know. They should not have to stand in line with the rest of us.

ANON 6:24 I think you are incorrect when you state that corporations will remain firmly in control. It is the government who will set the profits now. They will divert the profits to the companies who are liberals (socialist) or friends and family of the messiah and congress. The politicians have been doing this for a long time now. As always, socialism like communism destroys. Look at California, they are heading over the cliff as the US will be in a few years under democratic rule.

All the democrat lobbyists and special interests are getting paid back now. It is bankrupting the country, but the democrats don't give a shit. They would cut their nose off to spite their face. They would sell their mother for a dollar or a vote.

by by america, hello amerika and third world status

Dave, you and Daniel are amongst the miniscule idiot faction of the Republican Party that see this bill in extremist terms, it's "socialist," it'll lead to "third world" status, blah, blah, blah. Where the hell do you get your information from? In fact, this is a very watered down version of health care reform. WTF do you want, anyway? You want a libertarian-style, no-government-whatsoever version of "health" care? About the only thing that would ensure is a dramatic increase in the funeral industry. You're right, corporations won't be "firmly" in control under this plan. They will be ABSOLUTELY in control. Why can't you get it through your thick fucking meaty skull that Democrats are no more opposed to a free enterprise health care than Republicans are? How goddamned obvious does it need to be? This is light years away from anything Britain or France has.

I support a PUBLIC health care system, a genuinely socialized health care system. Let me tell you exactly what that means: NO industry that provides ANY kind of health care service (drugs, hospitals, wheelchair manufacturers, doctors, ambulance service, etc.) makes a profit for its own sake. Profits would go into the system so it pays for itself. Also, students studying medicine should have their schooling costs totally or almost totally covered by the system so they're not up to their eyeballs in debt for the rest of their natural born lives. That isn't to say that doctors and nurses shouldn't be very well compensated, they should be. In a socialized health care system, we would not have insurance companies because we wouldn't need them. And, most importantly, not a single veteran of the armed forces of the United States would EVER have to engage in any arguments or negotiations over what service is or isn't covered; their health care would be total, non-negotiable, and immediate. Imagine, a health care system that is TOTALLY dedicated to caring for human beings.

That's socialized health care, which is what I want, and which I will NOT get under ANY plan that comes from Obama or Congress. It pisses me off, and the only thing that compensates for it is the amusement I get out of seeing fucking idiots like you call a right-wing compromise like this piece-of-shit bill "socialism."

ANON 9:30 AM
This bill is a right wing compromise? As far as have I've seen, no right wing (republican) has had a chance to have any amendments added to the bill. I could be wrong, but since the right wing (republicans) are 40% of the senate, they should have a 40% say in the bill. Since I've seen the non-partisan way pelosi and Reid run congress behind closed doors with lobbyists and special interests, I have a feeling without doing any research, that about 0% has been added by right wingers. The left wingers (communists, socialists) have all gotten their say. Haven't you paid attention to the health care systems rationing and collapsing in canada and england? Look at California you fool. It's a perfect example of where the rest of the country is headed.

Have you seen the latest polls? The majority are against it. Maybe you cannot read. Also, I get to pay for Nebraska medicaid. If you love socialism or communism so much, why are you living here?

I bet you are a product of the current education system and think socialism or communism are wonderful. Capitalism has created the most amount of wealth ever. Communism created nothing but misery and at least a hundred million deaths last century. You probably think a hundred million deaths was a good thing. You liberals are truly evil.

Our country was built on freedom. That is what has made this country great. You must have a little mind because you don't like to make decisions for yourself. You want the government to take care of you. You want the government to change your diapers. You want the government to feed and clothe you. You make a good little robot. You want the government to bail you out when you make bad economic decisions (you probably bought a subprime mortgage and I have to pay for it now). We don't need people like you in this country, you need to move to Cuba, you will love it there.

I will help with your education which has been greatly lacking. Look up the definition of socialism.

I'll help you out.

Main Entry: so·cial·ism
Pronunciation: \ˈsō-shə-ˌli-zəm\
Function: noun
Date: 1837

1 : any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3 : a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

Gee, it seems to fit the definitions. Does not the government control the most of the auto industry, the banking industry, soon the health care industry and trying to take the energy system (thank God for climategate and the record cold, kinda wakes people to the truth)?

If the government passes health care reform and passes the crap and tax bill, they will control almost half of the economy which is halfway to communism.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!

One last thought, if this health care is so good, why doesn't congress enroll in it?

The left wingers (communists, socialists) have all gotten their say.

Maybe I wasn't clear. Let me try this again. Read my words very carefully. After you have read the words, THINK about the words.

I am a socialist, and (this is the important part) I am not (let me repeat that: NOT) getting 'my say' with this health care bill. Because it is not 'socialized' health care. Reactionary political interests have reworked the half-ass "reform" the Democrats first put forward, and because it is STILL not reactionary enough for them, the Republicans voted 'no.' Turn off your right-wing radio and turn on the left-wing radio. I do not listen to it myself, in fact, have not listened to it for well over 10 years, but I'll bet you that most of the callers today, assuming that's what they're talking about, are NOT happy with this bill.

I'm not even going to bother explaining my perspective on what's happening in Canada and California, Cuba, etc. Jesus, if you can't even grasp what I wrote in my last post, why bother?

Deal liberal apologist

You still cannot defend their exemptions of themselves. Why because it proves they are hypocrites. DEMOCRATES PASSED THIS BILL. DEMOCRATES EXEMPTED THEMSELVES…AGAIN IF IT IS ALL THAT AND A BAG OF CHIPS…WHY ARE THEY NOT THE FIRST IN LINE? WHY????

H Y P O C R I T E S EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

All these anonymouses (maybe it is just one, who knows?) that deem it absolutely necessary to pepper their statements be dropping the F-bomb in nearly every sentence are accomplishing a couple of things here - that is proving to one and all that their vocabulary is extremely limited and that they are completely unable to express themselves (or himself) without the F-bomb.

Profanity is the vocabulary of the ignorant. But ignorance can be cured with education. But stupid is a terminal affliction.

Anon 340 is right on. If this Obama-care bill is so great, why is Congress and The Komrade Incompetent not running to sign up? What is good for the geese is not necessarily good for the ganders.

I'M NOT DEFENDING THE EXEMPTIONS!!!! I'm not defending the bill at all, you idiots!!! In fact, no one in this entire thread is defending or supporting the bill, or any part of it. What part of the words "read my words" didn't you get? I do not support this health bill.

I swear to Christ, you guys are living proof that Miglavians literally live in an actual, alternative universe. I write words, and you apparently see completely different words, and instead of responding to what I did write, you ask me to defend positions I did not take, and in fact, issues I didn't even MENTION. It's amazing. LOL!!!

Lex said...

Anon 7:43, Miglavians have a fixed set of expectations of anyone who disagrees with them on anything. For example: You disagree with them on "A," and they automatically assume that they know what your position is on "B" through "Z." They also make assumptions about who you voted for, what you read, what radio you listen to, what web sites you visit, what party you're in, etc. Very narrow world view. They aren't predisposed to grasping complexities, nuance, shades of grey. Don't take it personally. It's a Miglavian thing, they can't help themselves.

Dave, I noticed you and an Anon got into it a couple threads back over whether the war in Afghanistan and Pakistan is illegal. It is, and this morning I came across an explanation from a professor of law as to why. An excerpt:

The UN Charter provides that all member states must settle their international disputes by peaceful means, and no nation can use military force except in self-defense or when authorized by the Security Council. After the 9/11 attacks, the council passed two resolutions, neither of which authorized the use of military force in Afghanistan.

“Operation Enduring Freedom” was not legitimate self-defense under the charter because the 9/11 attacks were crimes against humanity, not “armed attacks” by another country. Afghanistan did not attack the United States. In fact, 15 of the 19 hijackers hailed from Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, there was not an imminent threat of an armed attack on the United States after 9/11, or President Bush would not have waited three weeks before initiating his October 2001 bombing campaign. The necessity for self-defense must be “instant, overwhelming, leaving no choice of means, and no moment for deliberation.” This classic principle of self-defense in international law has been affirmed by the Nuremberg Tribunal and the UN General Assembly.

Bush's justification for attacking Afghanistan was that it was harboring Osama bin Laden and training terrorists, even though bin Laden did not claim responsibility for the 9/11 attacks until 2004. After Bush demanded that the Taliban turn over bin Laden to the United States, the Taliban’s ambassador to Pakistan said his government wanted proof that bin Laden was involved in the 9/11 attacks before deciding whether to extradite him, according to the Washington Post. That proof was not forthcoming, the Taliban did not deliver bin Laden, and Bush began bombing Afghanistan.

Dave, The mainest reason that the Congress is not including themselves in this abomination of a "healthcare" bill is that they know first-hand that it is a piece of unadulterated crap and they want no part of it for themselves. But, in their tiny minds, it is just fine for us "common folks".

This Komrade-care garbage is just one more reason to put the boot to all those Congress-critters who voted for this thing next November. If they are listed as "incumbent" on the ballots they should be kicked out of Congress.

Anonymous said...

I stand in awe of Miglavian-style ignorance: Dave, and Scottie: The reason that Congress isn't including itself in its reform is because they don't need to: Notwithstanding the fact that Congress, particularly on the Senate side, is full of millionaires, the simple fact is that Congress already has its OWN health care coverage, a program that even the conservative, free-enterprise oriented Heritage Foundation heaps praise on. Dave's question is like asking why Donald Trump doesn't take a taxi to work. Duh!!! Hello!!!

Scottiebill said...

Anonymouse 840: I am standing by what I said about this Komrade-care turkey. If this thing is not good enough for the Congress, why should it be good enough for us? It doesn't matter that they can afford to purchase whatever plan they choose, they are covered by a plan that covers just about anything and everything that could come along, and is paid for by the people through our taxes, not by the congressmen and women themselves out of their own paychecks.

If Komrade-care is not good enough for them, why is it good enough for us? Remember, too, that if we ordinary citizens choose not to participate, we stand to be fined rather heavily and/or go to the slammer for some 5 years. That is, if Congress gets their way on this.

If all this doesn't fit in with your way of thinking, then that is too damn bad. Just because you obviously despise Daniel and everyone else here whom you disagree with, it does not necessarily mean we are all wrong all the time and that you are necessarily right all the time. For you to take that attitude is nothing more that a hugely overinflated and narcissistic ego trip that is doing nothing but making you look stupid.

But apparently that is what you want.

You haven't the slightest idea, and throwing "apparently" in front of it doesn't cut it. I would, however, like this: I'd like you to walk into any senior center in the country during the lunch hour when it's full, and announce that you'd like to see the government COMPLETELY get rid of "Komrade" care, except call it by the name they'd recognize: Medicare. Good luck with that, let us all know how it turns out.

Scottiebill said...

Ok, so you don't like the word "apparently". No matter. I'll just insert the word "obviously" in its place. Are you happy now?

And Medicare and Komrade-care are not the same thing. Not even by your stretch of the imagination. Medicare is something that has been around for a long time and is a plan we can either opt into or out of. The Komrade-care is something, that if passed and signed by The Komrade, is something that everyone will have to have or be fined and/or go to jail.

You would like that, would you not?
