Ususal suspects blamed

I heard the Illinois governor blame the usual suspects for the "gun free zone" shooting last week: video games and our "gun laws." (I think by "gun laws" he means "the bill of rights")

Millions of people play video games but no pattern exists to show they become phsychos. Gun free zone after gun free zone gets shot up but people can't take the hint.

Places not attacked recently:

NRA conventions
The SHOT show
Gun shows
Police precints

I doubt Reloading 101 would have suffered the same either. That’s a tough call… Desperate third-world countries with their religious zealots will obviously strap on explosives to do their dirty work, and if you can’t safely attend a good dog fight, I doubt you’d be safe in their schools either.

But we’re talking crazy’s, not simply zealots martyring themselves for a vindictive religious leader. Maybe the question comes down to availability? Unlike Europe, most American towns have a gun shop. The last piece I bought needed only a ‘thumb print,’ though I nearly walked out before giving it. No one-week waiting period, as had been customary at my local shop. Of course I had to check a box ‘proving’ I was sane…

You wouldn’t want to invade my neighborhood! ...but would you feel comfortable attending its universities?

Capitalism sells, everything - and if it bleeds it leads. ‘We’ glorify violence and sell it like sex. With an ongoing opportunity to buy unlimited guns and ammo (as much as you can carry) and the instant, if infamous ‘fame’ associated with mass murder, something’s obviously wrong.

As a Dem, I don’t think Ted Kennedy’s got the answer, and he’s not getting mine. But is there an answer?

Young men on heavy duty drugs from the time a teacher decides they can't sit still in class. Schools are the new drug company reps.

Anyone besides me notice that every one of these young people had recently stopped taking their medications? But lets blame guns and video games and not look at the drug industry giving kids drugs that are meant for adults under strict supervision.

Anonymous said...

anon 949: do you really expect danny to try to hold drug companies accountable? a big-money and powerful lobbying group? No way man! That would make him seem too much like a socialist than he is comfortable with. Don't you know it's all the liberals' fault?

In Miglavia, EVERYTHING is the fault of liberals, despite the fact that the mainstream political discussion has shifted considerably to the right in the past two decades, and the ideological rhetoric voiced from the left is only a quiet whisper compared to what it was during the Civil Rights Era. Still, this is Miglavia, and in Miglavia, liberals are omnimpotent, omnipresent, and destroying the fabric of American society. KNOW IT!

Why would the host of this site sue the doctors & drug companies?

The parents of the shooter and the victims should sue and sue and sue some more.

JustaDog said...

What's really to blame are the liberal laws that prohibit law-abiding citizens to carry a concealed weapon on a university campus.

Things might have turned out much differently had an armed citizen pulled his/her weapon on this criminal.

Liberals will ALWAYS blame others, never themselves or their ideology.

Anonymous said...

Yes, faculty and qualified students should be allow to carry concealed handguns on campus. There is nothing any school can do to stop someone from doing this again. He had time to reload, and someone could have had a chance to take him out while he was reloading.

No one sending their child off to college should be opposed to armed faculty.

Daniel and fellow Miglavians: In accordance with your very interesting perspectives on guns, I propose the following lifestyle change: Why don't you all volunteer for military service (defend your country) and join your fellow Americans (support the troops) in Iraq, and that way, you could live in an area with an extraordinarily high concentration of firearms and weaponry (thus enjoying a high degree of personal safety and security).

Let us know how that goes, will you?

justadog-I think that we need to rethink the whole entire guncarrying policy with regard to age. With the large amount of Repubes going down for child molestation like your friends Bruce The Barber Benkle and Blue Lou Beres, children should be allowed to pack. Maybe then you Repubes will think twice about molesting them.

Republican Sex Scandals Dwarf Those of Democrats

Perspective by Tim King Salem-News.com

The sexual antics of President Bill Clinton have been a dangerous tool in the Republican campaign arsenal, used to the fullest possible extent, but what have they been up to all these years?

(SALEM, Ore.) - "He who lives in a glass house should not throw stones." It seems that old adage may be lost on the confused mass that we call modern society. The Grand Old Party, once known for controversial abolitionists, has become the moral party of today, or so their elected leaders will tell you.

As we evolve as a nation, too many people seem to be clinging to ideologies that make little sense, fighting against a woman's right to abortion while demanding that schools not teach children sex education or instruct them in the deadly virus, AIDS. It creates a vicious circle when we fight ourselves, and deny education to those who need it most.

Our nation spent more tax money conducting Ken Starr's investigation of President Bill Clinton's affair with intern Monica Lewinsky, than they did in the investigation of the September 11th 2001 attacks on the United States. Many Americans fail to see the logic behind this.

Now Oregon's Governor stands at risk, as a right wing radio pundit named Lars Larson levels an accusation against Kulongoski that could mean he could not be a lawyer in Oregon again. Larson says that Kulongoski had the goods on Goldschmidt years ago. Sources are reporting that he could have known about what has become known as the Goldschmidt scandal, as early as 1994.

Kulongoski walked angrily out of a press conference Tuesday, after a TV reporter asked him about the former governor's involvement with the teenage babysitter.

Perhaps the Governor is guilty of having known something he didn't tell. He stated that he is not, but if he is, he may lose his right to have a license to practice law. That would be a real burn if you were Ted Kulongoski, and quite a feather in the cap of Lars Larson, no doubt about it.

As Lars Larson is totally political in his pursuits and ambitions, we thought it would be interesting to offer perspective by determining just how many Republican lawmakers and officials have endured similar scrutiny in recent years for sexual perversions, extramarital affairs, etc. It is a hard number to pinpoint, it just depends on the number of years you account for.

As a subject, it was important enough to see an impeachment of former President Bill Clinton, so fair seems fair.

Then we ran into a problem with the idea of naming these scandals and their Republican perpetrators; there are so many they would hardly fit on the page. Using data from "Moral Values," these citations are otherwise attributed to the original agencies. Here is a partial list of names of serious problems related to GOP movers and shakers.

Anon 10:02 PM,

Yes, you are a retard. We already live in an area “with an extraordinarily high concentration of firearms”. It’s called the United States of America and firearm ownership is a right. Of course you won’t know that because you’ve probably never read the Constitution and I’ll bet you’ve never served your country. This being your case – why are you still here? You should leave and take that ungrateful c**t Michelle Obama with you.

The National Rifle Association is an opportunistic, money-grubbing, proto-fascist cult, and any intelligent, self-respecting gun-owning Second Amendment supporter knows it. So that rules out idiot Miglavs, who obviously falls for their bullshit, as he does for so many other brands of bullshit, hook line and sinker.

Good grief, name calling, finger pointing and trash.

Why does no one ask what would make someone do such a terrible act of violence against innocent college kids, or high school kids or kill their parents?

What turns these young men into killers to snap and then kill themselves too. The publicity? The fame or being know as killers?

Don't look to guns, or politics start asking why this happens again and again.

Then look at the school children, especially boys put on drugs at an early age, they are addicts and the schools, doctors and drug companies are to blame for givng kids adults medications that have not been tested on kids.

Small wonder they go crazy and start killing when they quit them and they are so messed up they cannot think straight.

Hey stop grand ol pedophiles:

We could take a look at the list of Democrat sex scandals.

The difference, of course, is how many were DEFENDED and how many STILL SERVE in the Democrat establishment.

My favorite is Congressman Barney Frank, who allowed a gay whore house to be run out of his apartment. He still serves.

Now the Dems are protecting teachers who molest school children in Oregon.

Methinks thou dost protest too much.

ANON 9:21 PM, you are right. In the sixties the government allowed drug companies to start giving children these types of drugs. I could be wrong. If you look at most or all of the shootings, you will find they were on some meds. It's the schools who want 2nd grade johnny to sit calmly when that is not human nature. So, they dope him up. My son 10 yrs ago was on really bad crap. He had all sorts of violent tendencies. Then the piece of shit psychologist who put him on that crap had my son and my mother (my son's mother hasn't seen him since 1987, so my mother was basically his mother) lying to me. My son was arrested in a stolen car doing drugs, and I the legal parent was not notified. My son was staying at my parents and we were not having contact because the psychiatrist said to. My son and I were having a lot of problems over school and I wanted him to get help. That POS psychologist had my son and mother lie to me. The moral of this story, stay away from psychiatrists
and liberals and democrats.

The last time I checked Neil Goldschmidt was a pedophile, was he a republican? Help me with my memory. Did you vote for Neil or Ted? You put a pedophile in office.
One question for you to help in your logical thinking skills. How come when a republican commits a crime or even what's viewed as unethical, they are thrown to the wolves? How come when a democrat commits a crime or something that is viewed unethical they are rewarded?
Let's use cold cash Jefferson as an example. He gets reelected after he commits his crime and Pelosi tried to put him on one of the big committees. Two years later he finally gets indicted. Let's get more local.
State Sen. Betsy Johnson, the Scappoose Democrat who admitted to violating state ethics laws earlier this year, is under investigation by the local FBI office.
Why is nobody calling for her head. Because the RATS love the criminals. It's the only ones they can get to vote for them.

Everyone one of these killers was on Prozac and quit taking it on their own because they didn't like the way it made them feel like zombies.

Too bad some trial lawyers haven't seen the link - maybe they will someday and start a class-action by all of the parents of the deceased and wounded kids.
