He probably had no idea this was a crime

Oregon doctor admits failing to file tax returns
An Ashland physician pleaded guilty today to failing to file a federal income tax return for 2003, despite substantial earnings that year.

He faces up to a year in prison and a $25,000 fine. Sentencing was set for October 29th.

Can we please get a Spanish version of this article out to our illegal amigos? Of course, they'd probably just laugh because they know that they are above the law. Maybe this doctor could ask for a pardon from Tom Potter...

How ironic that if you are committing other crimes then tax evasion can be overlooked but if it's your only offense then watch out.

The suspect who was killed has been identified as 19-year-old Cesar Alejandro Gonzalez-Meza from Stayton. He had a warrant out for his arrest on a meth charge and a warrant for a drug probation violation. In 2006, he was found not guilty in a rape and kidnapping case out of Stayton.

An autopsy showed Gonzalez-Meza died of a gunshot wound. Toxicology results are pending and should be released in about two weeks.

The officer who shot Gonzalez-Meza was Corporal John Humphreys, a 16-year veteran of the Salem Police Department.

According to Mark Makler, an attorney for the police union, the confrontation between Humphreys and the suspect went like this:

Humphreys used his stun gun to subdue the suspect.
Humphreys then put his stun gun on the ground in order to handcuff the suspect.
The suspect grabbed the stun gun and used it on Humphreys.
Humphreys, fearing for his life, fired his weapon at the suspect.

Notice how the name is mentioned only in 6th graph.

A funeral was held Wednesday for the Good Samaritan who was stabbed to death last weekend after trying to intervene during a stranger’s domestic dispute.

Merle Graham‘s niece described her uncle as a kind, warm person with a great sense of humor.

"He was the youngest of… my mother's siblings... sort of the silly uncle that would toss you up over his shoulder,” said Misty Kelly.

Kelly said she was absolutely devastated when she learned of her uncle’s murder.

"But it speaks so much about how domestic violence is a serious and real issue and that it affects everyone, each and everyone of us," she said.

Kelly, together with police, fears the killer still poses a danger. Police identified the suspect as Raymundo Marquez-Vella. They believe he is armed and dangerous and may still be hiding somewhere in the Portland area.

"I hope he's apprehended. He's out there in someone's neighborhood right now. They need to catch him. He is a danger to each and every person in Portland right now," Kelly said.

Michele Rosenberger, Graham’s older sister, said that although she and her family are in great pain, she is proud of her brother for stepping in.

"I admired him so greatly. And I'm so proud of him today. I miss him. And I will always miss him. But more than anything I am proud of him for what he did,” Rosenberger said.

"He was always there for everyone. And, I just love

Let's not forget about Russians.

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- People in Vancouver are waking to find parts missing from their cars and Clark County investigators said it may be the work of organized crime.

Brandon Brown said he had $4,000 worth of wheels and tires on his 2000 Expedition, until Sunday morning.

Brown told FOX 12 he walked out of his house and found his vehicle sitting on concrete blocks, minus the wheels.

“Seems like a bunch of guys coming around and doing it. They’re quick and fast. Nobody in the neighborhood knew,” said Brown.

Brown said he had the locking lug nuts and the crooks were still able to quietly break the locks and make off with his tires.

Police said the thieves are also steeling air bags and catalytic converters, and the problem seems to be getting worse.

Delbert Cibart lives across the street from Brown and said he also discovered his wheels and tires missing from his Acura, a $1,400 loss.

“It’s hard to say if they’re shipping them out of town. I don’t know how they’re getting rid of them,” said Cibart.

Clark County investigators said they suspect the thefts may be the work of Russian gangs. According to investigators, the gangs or organized crime employ people in their 20s to 30s to steal car parts and sell them on the black market.

Deputies said in unincorporated Clark County, they receive reports of stolen car parts at least once a day, but the crime is on the rise across the region.

Several car owners like Cibart are stepping up their security and installing cameras and motion detectors.

For now, Brown said he’s done buying expensive rims and tires.

We probably paid for his hospital care. My bet is he's in Mexico and we will never see him again.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - The man behind the wheel of a vehicle that collided head-on with a patrol car in June, killing a Marion County deputy, has been indicted by a grand jury on homicide charges, authorities said.

Police were searching this week for Alfredo De Jesus-Ascenio, 20, of Woodburn. He was critically injured in the crash that killed deputy Kelly Fredinburg, 34, of Independence. De Jesus-Ascenio's passenger, Oscar Ascenio-Amaya, 19, of Woodburn, also died in the crash on Highway 99E near Gervais.

De Jesus-Ascenio was hospitalized for several weeks at Oregon Health & Science University hospital in Portland. He was released last month and is believed to be using a walker.

De Jesus-Ascenio was last known to be in the Woodburn area on Aug. 9, the Oregon State Police said Wednesday.

The homicide charges against De Jesus-Ascenio were not made public until Wednesday, said Don Abar, a deputy district attorney in Marion County.

Cornelius police apprehended a treasure trove of pirated booty last week, in the form of 302 counterfeit DVDs and CDs.

Police received a call at about 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, when tipsters noticed a man selling wares from a black duffel bag in the parking lot of Grande Foods.

When police contacted the man, Silverio Cesar Alejo, 30, of San Jose, Calif., they found a stash of recent films including “Transformers,” “The Simpsons Movie” and “The Bourne Ultimatum,” none of which has been officially released on DVD. He also was selling the Paris Hilton sex tape.

Police say that Alejo was selling his stock, valued at $5,000, to passersby in the parking lot.

Alejo was arrested and charged with trademark counterfeiting, a misdemeanor; unlawful labeling of a sound recording and theft one, both felonies. He was lodged in Washington County Jail.

Alejo is being held without bail pending the resolution of a hold placed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.

“The movie industry says this is a major problem and has been a major problem for many years,” said Commander Ed Jensen, Cornelius police spokesman.

On June 9, Beaverton police raided two Hillsboro flea markets, seizing 50,000 counterfeit items worth about $758,000. They made 11 arrests.

Jensen said it wasn't clear whether Alejo was involved with that counterfeit ring, but wouldn’t rule out a connection.
