Rove tells Latino leaders US facing critical moment
Karl Rove, U.S. President George W. Bush's senior political advisor, on Tuesday took the administration's message on immigration reform to Latino leaders, saying the country was approaching a "critical moment" in the debate.

Speaking at the annual convention of leading Latino civic group the National Council of La Raza, Rove said Bush would work with Republicans and Democrats in coming weeks to push through reform legislation that has bitterly divided Congress, the Republican Party and the nation.

Clinton, Rove, Villagerosa. That's the speaker lineup. I, for one, am proud to have been calling Rove names for quite some time now. Of course, this is just another of Bush's boys who have a love-fest with the Brown version of the Aryan Nation.

On March 8, 2005 Gonzales gave a speech to his "people" at the National Council of 'The Race" Capitol Awards Gala. During this speech Gonzales said that "I am humbled and grateful to stand on the shoulders of groups like La Raza." (La Raza = The Race) At this same event Chairwomen Janet Murguia said that: "We are going to put our people first."

So while Rove is "putting [the race] first" I guess that means that those of us with the wrong skin color sit in the back of the bus. No word on whether or not I can ride my wife's brown coattails to the front of the bus with the rest of the privileged.

No word on whether or not the event, Latinas Brunch: Young, Fabulous and Latina will allow white folks to sit at the same lunch counter as the brown folks.

I'd like to add to her list of blunders by Bush/Rove the "don't darken the doorsteps again" comment that Rove made to Tom Tancredo on the issue of illegal immigration. Way to be in touch with the American public Mr. President.

Mission Implausible
Karl Rove was right. The real story about Joseph C. Wilson IV was not that Bush lied about Saddam seeking uranium in Africa; the story was Clown Wilson and his paper-pusher wife, Valerie Plame. By foisting their fantasies of themselves on the country, these two have instigated a massive criminal investigation, the result of which is: The only person who has demonstrably lied and possibly broken the law is Joseph Wilson.

So the obvious solution is to fire Karl Rove.

I agree. Let's stop calling her the nominee. I haven't seen a poll yet that is favorable to her and while I don't think that polls mean anything let's just give it a rest.

Actual guest worker program

President Bush is calling on Congress to develop legislation that will offer temporary worker status to undocumented men and women now employed in the United States and to those in foreign countries who have been offered employment here. The legal status would expire after 3 years (with the ability to be renewed). Temporary workers then must return home or apply for a green card under existing law, unlike the blanket amnesty that was enacted in 1986. It would discourage future illegal entry by providing incentives such as the ability to go home to visit family without concern, and enhanced workplace enforcement against those who violate the immigration laws. The President is also committed to working with other nations to allow foreign workers to receive credit in their nations’ retirement systems for time worked in the U.S., and supports the creation of tax-preferred savings accounts they can collect when they return to their native countries.

Now I don't like Karl Rove (as indicated by all of these) but he has now sunk to a new low. (If selling out your country to illegal aliens and supporting Arlen Specter wasn't low enough.)

What could possibly make this moron jump around and act like an idiot? Does he think that he's impressing people? It isn't even funny or amusing. Don't ever darken the doorsteps of a "rap video" again Karl.

No mas amnesty

A very heartfelt thank you to Bush, Kennedy, McCain, Rove, et al that helped push this issue of illegal aliens to the forefront. Your amnesty was doomed the minute the public became aware of your traitorous actions. We spoke loudly and even though you are removed from us, from normal life even, surrounded by staffers that we pay for, taking trips that we pay for, lounging in offices that we pay for, you had to listen to the people.

And to my illegal aliens friends. Leave now. You will not get amnesty. Yourcrimes will not be rewarded, excused or forgotten. Life is only going to get more uncomfortable for you. Go back home. The rule of law does still mean something in this country. You can't buy your way out of punishment here... this isn't Mexico.

Oh, and to the boys at PCUN, CAUSA, MeChA, etc: picture my smiling face.

I occasionaly read The Nation (the folks who still insist that proven communist spies were victims of "McCarthyism') and when I saw this headline I thought that maybe we had gone back to the days of defending Clinton:

Yes, the crack lawyers at The Nation have come to the conclusion that "lying" is not illegal. Unless of course it is under oath. (I did not have sex with that woman)

The article goes on to not really specify what "lie" was told but Bush and Rove are bad. Real bad.

But what do I really think?

You know what I realized? I have a few opinions. They are as follows:

Illegal aliens: Kick them out. Give them nothing so they kick themselves out.

The Kicker: It's ours. Hands off.

Gay marriage: It's all about equality... gays can marry someone of the opposite sex just like the rest of us.

Public art: I don't buy that garbage for my house, I don't want you using my money to buy it for yours.

The internet: What did we do before it? Thank you Al Gore.

The War on Terror: Bury terrorists with pig guts. Post pictures of that. We should be waging a huge propaganda war instead of having one waged against us by the media.

Les Schwab: Greatest tire company ever. Wouldn't buy anywhere else. Don't care if they have a woman manager or not.

Women having "equality": Hah, I'll concede that women should have set-asides at Les Schwab (or anywhere) when Cosmo sets aside a certain number of pages to talk about fishing/power tools/large trucks.

Property rights: That's your house, you want to paint it polka dot and put a large neon sign on top? That's your bussiness. What I want to do with my house is my bussiness.

Abortion: It's murder.

Democrats: They're not bad people, just not very bright.

Washington DC politicians: They live on Planet X. They don't care about us even a little.

Marijuana: If you think it's medicine then you are a moron. You don't smoke medicine.

Tom Clancy: Great author.

Karl Rove: A moron.

Global Warming: When I write a blog post I put a link, when I write a paper I footnote. This is because I will be called a liar if I don't. (with the proof available I just get called a facist/bigot/etc) Don't tell me about global warming unless you are prepared to back it up with facts. "Everyone knows" isn't good enough.

Feminists: Who let them out of the kitchen?

Crime and punishment: We will have less of the former when the latter is more severe and unpleasant.

Voting in America: Free to Choose?
Suppose you want illegal immigration controlled? Which party is for that? The party of amnesty for cheap labor, or the party of amnesty for cheap votes?

Or what if you want government made smaller? Is that still the Republican platform, or have they shelved that goal while they create a $57 billion “Department of Limited Government” to study the issue at a series of earmarked laboratories built on artificial reefs located in each and every Congressional district in America?

Right now in Rhode Island, the national Republican Party is doing everything in its power to force Republican voters to re-elect unpopular Sen. Lincoln Chaffee, by actively campaigning against his Republican primary challenger, Steve Laffey. Rather than voters using the primary to tell the leadership who to support, the leadership is using the primary to tell the voters who to support. “Orwellian” is an overused word, but it applies here.

I blame Karl Rove for this one. He did the same thing with Arlen Specter. Campaign finance reform has only made it worse.

But what are some NCLR positions:
NCLR Position
NCLR strongly opposes the CLEAR Act and HSEA. State and local law enforcement agencies should not enforce federal immigration laws, and these bills would be detrimental to the Latino community. They would erode the relationship between immigrant communities and law enforcement officers, would mean that fewer people report crimes, and would take scarce resources away from other police functions, leaving entire communities less safe. This type of legislation would also likely result in increased racial profiling and civil rights violations by state and local police officers.
Law enforcement should not enforce laws as it will be "detrimental to the Latino community."

NCLR Position
NCLR criminal justice policy agenda advocates for comprehensive alternatives to incarceration, especially for youth and nonviolent offenders. NCLR’s juvenile justice portfolio has four focal points: Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) and differential treatment of Latino youth in the justice system; “adultification” and “criminalization” of Latino youth in the justice system; the impact of anti-gang laws on Latino youth; and advocating at the federal and state levels for increased funding for prevention and treatment programs, as well as implementation of rational and effective research-based juvenile justice policies.
While the rest of the community is worried about "the impact of anti-gang laws" on gang members, the NCLR is worried about "the impact of anti-gang laws on Latino youth."

I just love how the NCLR spells out it's full name as "National Council of La Raza" when writing in English but atranslationaslation of a Spanish page reveals it for what it is: National Council of the Race.

The fact that groups like this can entertain high profile guests is a testamenthypocrisyypocrasy and double standard on race in this country.
