What is the world coming to when our homeless don't have a website

http://www.dignityvillage.org/
We have been having technical difficulties with the Village website, largely related to problems with our former web hosting company. We have now moved to new web hosting and we are in the process of building an all-new, even better website. We ask for your patience over the next few weeks as we work to get this site up and running.

We have several goals in mind for the new website. First and foremost is to update the design and layout of the site, along with providing more regularly updated content. Just as important, we want to make more use of modern interactive 'Web 2.0' technologies that will enable us to have more interaction with our partners, friends, and supporters, along with members of the Portland community and anyone else interested in social justice, homelessnes, and poverty.

We wish to extend a warm thanks to HostGator for approving a grant for Dignity Village that pays for hosting this site.

I for one can't imagine the homeless not having Web 2.0 technology. Obviously the poor people in other countries have this technology. If the Portland poor DIDN'T have this they would be the laughing stock of the world.

I can picture myself walking up to some starving kid in the Sudan and telling him how the poverty stricken folks in Portland didn't have Web 2.0 as recently as April 2011. This kid would point and laugh!

The embarrassment that the Portland homeless must suffer knowing that the villages of Rwanda all have Web 2.0 technology and our own village does not.

I could crack these jokes for hours or you could just go read What's so great about America by Dinesh D'Souza. Poverty in America means crying about not having Web 2.0...

Hey Daniel, I couldn't help noticing that if you click on "View My Complete Profile", right after "Interests" you put "my family" and "Jesus".

Didn't Jesus have some opinions about the homeless? I'm sure somewhere in Luke it says to mock them. Or was that empty a magazine at them?

Always the class act, Miglavs never misses a chance to laugh at the homeless.

Wouldn’t the money spent on a web site be better spent on food and medicine for the homeless? How many homeless have the ability to access web 2.0? Nothing like having priorities in the right spot...

If you ever run for office Miglavs, add to the list of things voters might inquire about, this: Your public admission that you could "crack jokes for hours" about the homeless.

I would like to add to your list of better ways to spend that money. Maybe they could them find jobs so dignity village would be a distant memory when those folks move back into the world and resume normal live. I think that should be the goal of dignity village. I guess in the minds of portlands leader, it's better to hvae the internet than a jobs and a real home.

More hope and change from obama's supporters in charge of govement in portland.

Now I would be really mad if it wasn't at least 4G Wi-fi of course.
Taxpayer subsidised Illegal alien "Farmworker" housing do.

Yep, Americans get a cardboard squatters camp while Illegals, who have a job and get an almost tax free paycheck (claim 9 for deductions), illegals get brand new Homes and Apt.s w/ Wi-Fi, laptops, Sat. Tv, Washer & Dryer via YOUR Tax dollars.

Yep seems bout right huh?

I do hope they have a needle exchange as most Hobo's are on drugs and we can't afford to pay for their AIDS Med.s

JESUS!? Yeah he said "I will help those that help themselves", which this "Village" is NOT doing. It is just giving away Fish not showing them how too get thier own fish.

Course DEMOCRATS want us all in a type of "Village", dependent on DEMOCRATS to survive or the DEMOCRATS lose their taxpayer hand out jobs, don't they? Democrat code word - "Affordable and sustainable housing".

Growing up in Chicago we called this housing the "Projects". Which we were always destroyed by the "Needy". In FACT they just bulldozed over $300 Million in "Affordable" housing there and get this...going to rebuild...for the 3rd time in 30 years...at a taxpayer cost of over $600 million!!! More job security for the SOCIALIST Union mafiaoso Democrat Gov't workers.

"God helps those who help themselves!" Hezekiah 6:1

This verse, of course, is not in the Bible. Hezekiah sounds plausible enough, but is not a real book of scripture. "Yeah! That's from the book of Hezekiah, isn't it?" is the code-word for these kinds of phantom texts.

This would seem old news by now, but just recently a friend of ours was scandalized when we told her this "verse" did not exist.

Thanks Daniel for bringing these terrible conditions to light. I am pretty sure the homeless need cell phones and ipads too. Maybe we should look into left over stimulous funds for this? Anybody with me?

Old Dinesh D'Racist. Sad you quote a reject like that guy. Oh well, some people are just hopeless.

Cool that DigVille has a website. Maybe I will reach out to them and donate some cash to help them keep it up and running.
