The late night folks who have other people write their jokes for them have been making "Rush Limbaugh used drugs" jokes a lot lately.
Has anyone heard jokes about Obama using cocaine?
In fact, I'm guessing that a random survey would show that more people know about Limbaugh abusing Oxycotin than they do about Obama's coke.
It's a real testament to the media that they can work tirelessly to destroy a private citizen while covering for the President of the United States and be successful.

regardless of the reasons behind it, I'll take a stab and say that your average citizen is far more fond of Obama than Rush. As a liberal, of course I'm going to favor Obama, but I can't help but notice that his demeanor is far more measured and mellow than Rush, who I fear is going to blow a gasket every time he talks.
moreover, that Americans are forgiving of people who are up front about their past mistakes has received a considerable amount of ink. so, i think it's no surprise that the public has more favorable sentiment towards someone who acknowledged using drugs during his youth, who ruminated about it articulately in his memoir (written by him alone, as opposed to having "help", before he was a public figure), over a middle-aged millionaire who blathers sanctimoniously and condescendingly on the radio, who, lo and behold, was addicted to prescription drugs and had his house-cleaner in on the scheme.
poor rush. he just can't catch a break. but i really don't think this one is a liberal media job, miglavs. it's just the way the american people roll. we're fickle that way.
and i guess it kind of parallels the way that you get maligned for your "throw-the-book-at-them" stance towards criminal offenders. i don't think that anyone holds your criminal past against you, per se. i mean, even though most of us weren't gangbangers and dope-slingers in our youth, we all made mistakes. i guess what gets at people a little bit is that you demand from other criminals what you yourself could not pay: prison time. you want criminals punished to the fullest extent of the law, and then some, but you, by your own admission, served 0 days in jail. and to top it all off, you appealed twice, in what i think you would feel today were unnecessary tax-payer-funded proceedings. so it's really hard to take your talk seriously when you were unable to walk the walk.
and i can see why you sympathize with rush. neither of you poor bastards can catch a break. but before you go blaming the media - at least in the case of limbaugh - let me clue you in on something about human nature. people tend to like other people who seem like they would make good friends. in most cases, people don't choose people who seem like bitter, hypocritical pricks (e.g., you and limbaugh) as friends, and therefore, they don't hold such people in high regard. on the other hand, people who seem like open, thoughtful, well-read, well-spoken, and measured (e.g., our president), well, they seem likable.
fickle i know. but i suggest that you and rush, if you're going to sow it, reap it.
Online chat and blogs have jokes a' plenty about Obama's cocaine use as does Red Eye on Fox and many conservative talk radio shows.
One thing you have to keep in mind, Daniel, is Rush's incredibly rough and unforgiving indictment of drug addicts for many years. Surely Rush knew at the time, and knows now, that if you're going to dish it out you had better be prepared to take it (sooner or later).
A certain old fashioned word comes to mind: comeuppance. A bully of any sort will eventually receive it
Limbaugh has spent years crucifying drug addicts on his show, showing them absolutely no mercy whatsoever, now he's supposed to get a pass? Explain that to me, Miglavs. Explain it to me with a straight face.
"In fact, I'm guessing that a random survey would show that more people know about Limbaugh abusing Oxycotin than they do about Obama's coke."
First of all, "in fact" and "I'm guessing" should never appear in the same sentence. Second of all, have you considered that perhaps Limbaugh's endeavors received more airtime because they occurred while he was a public figure (just a few years ago), and a relatively sanctimonious one at that, while Obama's happened more than 20 years ago, before anyone knew who he was?
You probably overlooked all of this and jumped straight to the conclusion that (a) the scenarios are identical and (b) that damn liberal media........
Poor Rush...
but wait rush isn't running GM (oops i mean the country )
This blog is so uninformative and utterly lacking in insightful analysis of political issues, but it's like a guilty pleasure for me. I just love watching the mental-midget Miglavs getting his ass handed to him.
Daniel, please keep your razor-sharp insights coming.

The discussion that Miglavs cannot or will not engage...welcome to Miglavia: What Hypocrisy?
Miglavs is a punk and a pussy for not serving time. How can you take a stance like his towards criminals when you yourself got a free pass? What a puss!
