Pretty powerful message.

The messages by soldiers who OPPOSE the war and say that it WAS a "mistake," (and worse than just a "mistake") are also very powerful. You should listen to some of them, Mr. Miglavs. I thought I would call this to your attention since, being a FOXNews and Lars Larson addict, you're probably blissfully unaware of them. How about practicing a little old fashioned "fair and balanced" and listen to some of them?

10:26 - That's an equally dangerous stance to take. It absolutely is our job. There's no question that we're responsible, as a country, for Iraq's future. If you single-handedly bring down a state's government, obliterate its infrastructure, and get a million of its people killed, you are very much responsible for what goes up in their place.

The question we should be talking about is whether, in the long run, our military presence is helping or hurting the situation. To me, there are three facts that are hard for citizens of a democracy to argue against. First, the majority of the Iraqi people want us out. Second, while there's a minority that includes the guy in this video, the majority of the troops think we should leave within a year. Third, Iraq's elected government has endorsed Senator Obama's 16-month withdrawal plan.

So someone who thinks we should stay indefinitely is claiming to know better than the Iraqi people, the Iraqi government, and the troops on the ground. To say nothing of domestic polling. And it's possible. But you'd need to make a hell of a case in order to overcome such a total lack of ethos, and I haven't seen it yet. I think that as a country, we've reached a consensus on the lesser of two evils.

Finally, I must respectfully disagree with the soldier in the ad. A desire to respect the service of the military should not (and need not) get in the way of an honest analysis of whether the war was in the best interests of our country, theirs, or the world as a whole. Nobody's laying any blame on them. On the contrary, I think we can agree on the importance of making sure that their service is neither abused nor wasted.

it is not patriotic to lose a leg for one's country when the mission is false. that is stupidity.

Aonon 2:37 PM,
That is exactly the definition of patriotic.

Definition of patriotic:
Feeling, expressing, or inspired by love for one's country.

You and others may think the mission was false. However, that will be decided by history, not you.

I am a vet myself. Our military should not be used for nation building. Our troops are over there, I support them and their mission. For the next war are involved in, I think we need to have war declared by congress. However, no more nation building. Kick their ass and leave. Let them pay in money and blood to build their own country.

Yet another diva who's well past her "sell by" date is predicting that if Obambi fails to win the election, it will "spark the second American Civil War".

"After having stolen the last two elections, the Republican Mafia…"

"If Obama loses it will spark the second American Civil War. Blood will run in the streets, believe me. And it's not a coincidence that President Bush recalled soldiers from Iraq for Dick Cheney to lead against American citizens in the streets."

"Bush has transformed America into a police state, from torture to the imprisonment of reporters, to the Patriot Act."

This is emblematic of the main problem with Leftists: they're insane. Everything is, to them, a religious belief - and not a benign one, at that. Intellectually, they're at the same level as Islamic terrorists.

Is it possible to make the column widths wider? I hate the skinny narrow columns, it's not as readable.
