Send us your tired, your weary... your meth

Wiretaps were key to bringing down meth cartel
The investigation led to the arrests of 41 people — including five in Woodland and three in Long Beach — and seizures of 89 pounds of meth, 50 firearms and $255,000 in cash.

But in the past, anytime members of the family were arrested — or suspected an arrest was imminent — they’d return to Mexico for long stretches of time. In the interim, other family members stepped in.

It's that whole "family values don't stop at the Rio Grande" thing.

The organization controlled the distribution of meth along the Interstate 5 corridor, bringing 200 pounds a month up from superlabs in Mexico, court documents said. About half the meth stayed in Washington, and the rest was shipped to the Midwest and East Coast, authorities said.

[Epifanio Barragan] has been ordered detained in federal custody for the duration of his case “based on immigration status,” according to court documents that don’t elaborate.

A few blocks away at 733 Second St., Maria Jesus Barragan Estrada, 35, admitted to agents she came to America illegally about 12 years ago, according to a probable cause statement.

Agents found a permanent resident card in her name and two Social Security cards. A federal agent checked and found no record of a resident card issued in her name, the statement said.

And the list goes on and on. These are the people that McCain, Clinton and Obama want to give amnesty to. Don't let them fool you about "background checks" and "the ones who aren't breaking the law" (which is laughable on it's face) because these are people who have no background and simply haven't been caught yet.

Human beings have been using drugs in one form or another ever since there have been human beings. But -- oh! I see Danny has his hand up in the front row. You say you know how to bring this phenomenon to a halt? You have the answer to stopping people from doing something they've done for thousands of years? Okay, Mr. Miglavs. Indulge us, the floor is yours. What's your solution?

Anonymous said...

Despite what the government/media tells you, Daniel, much of the meth consumed in the US is home cooked. But that would be owning up to the fact that it's an American made problem. You should know this being an ex junkie. True junkies like their stuff clean, they prefer to cook it themselves so they know it's good. They don't want that crappy Mexican stuff. You know that.
Heres a link to the FBI website that will show you just how many meth labs are seized here in the US.
Acknowledge the facts and stop pointing the finger at people because they are brown. The US is the #1 consumer of illegal drugs in the world. That is fact. It doesn't matter where they come from. Mexico, Japan, Israel, Zimbabwe, France, England, Finland..... they are consumed here.
It's obvious you have run out of material to scrape of the bottom of what ever scum bag you reach in to for your information. The meth thing, and all of your information, are getting really, really tired.
Find some new things, Daniel.

It's pretty pathetic when Miglavs can't even find anything intelligent to say about something he actually ought to have some first-hand knowledge about and insight into. As always, scapegoating is his tactic of choice. He works from a shallow bag of tricks.

It's actually from the DEA and not the FBI. Have fun with that one Daniel. I know you like to point out petty mistakes others make.

Anonymous said...

Why doesn't where they come from matter? If you can slow down the supply or make it more difficult for dealers to do their drug business, why not do all we can to impede them?

Nice link by the way. Did you happen to notice the last names of the majority of those on the most wanted list?

Call me a racist for bringing it up, and you'd be wrong. But I'll call you an idiot and blind for not putting two and two together. A majority of the drug dealers are Latino, and they are crossing our border. Perhaps they are not all Mexicans, but they are using the border that we are hoping to secure.

Bobkatt said...

Anon 9:36- you condemn the "government/media" info and then cite the DEA. What's up with that? Also the source you cite shows drug busts by states, what is that suppose to prove?
Also from different sources:
From the Indian Health Board:

"A new challenge for tribal, local, state and federal authorities is in combating the smuggling of illegal drugs from Mexico and Canada across tribal lands that border or are traversed by the U.S.-Mexico and U.S.-Canadian borders, such as the Tohono O’odham Nation in Arizona and the St. Regis Mohawk Reservation in New York State. Approximately 80 percent of the current meth supply in the U.S. is due to illegal smuggling from Mexico. "

From PBS special

"According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, 65 percent of all meth consumed in the United States now comes from Mexican drug cartels: 53 percent from superlabs in Mexico itself, and 12 percent from Mexican-run superlabs within the U.S."

From the Washington Post.

"McDonnell estimates that 80 to 90 percent of the meth found in Virginia now comes from Mexico. The drug labs that once dotted rural Virginia are largely gone, he said."

I know! How about we do something about their white trash customers, who are stealing anything and everything not nailed down so they can buy the shit in the first place!

As long as there are customers, there will be dealers. Would you feel better if the dealers were citizens? Im just asking... because if we follow your dead end logic here's where we end up: These illegals are taking jobs away from American drug dealers!

LMAO.

What is the root problem? The want or the satisfier of the want?

Domestic mom and pop level meth labs never were, nor are they now responsible for even 10% of the meth on the street at any given time.

And despite the delusional ramblings of White House Drug Czar John Walters, the meth problem is not abating - there's more meth in the U.S. now than there's ever been in history. Even mom and pop level or "ounce reduction labs" are seeing a major resurgence, thanks to bulk importation of precursor chemicals, and the "one pot" cooking method, among other reasons.

But of course Mr. Walters and the DEA, after giving themselves a 200 million dollar per year raise,(bringing their annual budget to over 2 BILLION dollars) have cut state funding for not only treatment and prevention,(as usual) but for state level enforcement as well.

Naturally, they need a new enemy now, so Mr. Walters tells us prescription drug abuse is now the new terror to fear. He adds that new enemy to the evil weed marijuana, which he describes as "the biggest drug problem facing the U.S." This all follows his attempt to scare the hell out of everybody with the meth-laced Ecstasy threat coming in from Canada, which Canadian authorities and a number of other agencies on both sides of the border proved was total B.S. and propaganda.

This new shift in focus all began about three or four weeks back when Quest Diagnostics announced through several Press Releases that drug use was down among teens and less people were testing positive for meth at work. Of course those are workplaces where drug testing is Federally mandated - not your typical occupation of choice for a meth user. No one is allowed to review or audit those figures, not learn how they were collected.

And of course Quest Diagnostics is so deep in the pocket of the Federal Government anyway, if they were asked to confirm that not only did Bigfoot exist, but he was an executive at IBM, they could come up with all sorts of graphs and pie-charts to substantiate that claim. After all, they can afford really good printers, as drug testing is a multi-billion dollar a year business.

The fact is, meth use has bled into every level and strata of society, because we continue to believe that drug issues are solved with prohibition. Newspapers are always quick to show the "Faces Of Meth," people with sores all over their face and eyes bugging out. But they don't show you the other side - something we call, "The Other Faces Of Meth." Check out the link, and see if it doesn't make you re-think who the users and dealers of this drug are, or at the very least, who it includes.

EUREKA! It just hit me how this whole obsession began with Daniel Miglavs! Why didn't I think of it before?

Miglavs' feculant, all consuming disdain for the hispanic illegal immigrant began when HE lost his job to one! His job? Dealing meth! It all makes sense now. We found the missing puzzle piece folks!

PositivelyJim, thank you for reminding us about "Faces of Meth." Let's take a look at some of those faces...

http://www.drugfree.org/Portal/DrugIssue/MethResources/faces/photo_8.html

See any Mexicans? Nope. You won't find any at "More Faces of Meth" either. That's because WHITE people buy meth and they'll do anything to get it. You ought to know Miglavs, they're your former customers.

Predictably, you ignore half of the problem in favor of your disturbingly giddy pursuit of the other half: the Hispanic half.

You do the same with immigration. Daily mewling on all things hispanic with nary a nasty word or insult directed towards their largely white employers. Oh, you pay lip service to these crooks who employ illegals, but you sure don't make fun of them or shove your camera in their faces. Wonder why, folks? It's a classic study. Miglav's bully mentality knows this: Only pick on the vulnerable and meek. Miglavs knows if he shoved his fricking camera in the face of a white boss man he'd get the crap knocked out of him.

Hey bobkatt, do you believe everything you see in the media?
The truth is, bobkatt, when America has a problem it demonizes others. It's tradition. Our government uses educators, media and most other institutions to help brainwash the public in to believing others are to blame. Please understand that that is what is going on with this meth problem. We are simply blaming others for our situation. Nothing more. We did it with Communism, with Muslims, with blacks, with Mexicans and drugs, with China. We always blame others and persecute them for problems America itself creates. We usually chose people of a different race or religion. It's easier to brainwash the masses that way. We've associated dark skin with criminal activity.
Furthermore, if don't believe that mom and pop shops contribute a signifcant amount (especially here in Oregon) to the meth epidemic I have some land with oil under it for sale. Take a trip to Umatilla County or Southeast Portland to see tweekers cooking meth in the trunks of their car while they drive their kids around. You need to be on the streets to see it. You also need to be on the streets, or have dark skin, to notice this thing called RACIAL PROFILING (systematic racial discrimination of racial minorities by the police). Please wake up and smell the coffee and don't get your information from mainstream books, news and magazines, or special interest groups. If you want the truth go out and see it for yourself.

Do your friends know you are a wimp Daniel? I bet they do. They probably like to bully people that present no threat to them too. You probably sit around like the dorks you were in high school and plan out what your going to say at the next "rally" to make your shattered egos feel better.
Why don't you take that camera of yours and go bully congress members who pass the very pro business laws that allow "illegal" immigration to perpetuate itself. Or the wealthy executives in the high rises of Portland.
Your nothing but a punk! You wont even stand up to those that hold the key against "illegal" immigration. Instead you belittle people who hold very little of that power. Classic scapegoating. Your nothing but a punk fool! I bet you liked to torture animals when you were young, didn't you? They couldn't fight back. And, I bet you wish that duck in your hand was a Mexican instead of a duck, don't you? But they would probably fight back. And you don't want that.

anon 9:44-I agree that the war on drugs is a disaster. It ends up ruining more lives than it saves, no doubt. It adds to the endless corruption supported by our government.
I just don't see how importing more corruption and poverty will help the situation. It seems to me the only way to reduce the demand for drugs is to increase the opportunities and incentive for Americans to reject that lifestyle and you can't do that by exporting jobs and importing poverty.
Unfortunately, the pro-invasion group seems to be as myopic on the situation as the anti-invasion group. They only see closed border supporters as racist and anti-immigrant. I see open borders as just one of many assaults on our sovereignty, security, and freedom. Make no doubt that I blame our own citizens and especially our corrupt government as the primary cause for most of our ills. As a Ron Paul supporter I see that the only future we have as a free nation is to elect people that believe in personal freedoms, limited government control, and personal responsibility, but you don't get there by supporting any of the current front runners with a Global UN agenda. Open borders is just one arm of that agenda.

They have so much power those contractors, darn it!
Why dont you go fly a kite maxy boy. Wait, thats probably too complicated for you.

4:47. You need to learn a bit of critical thinking. It makes good sense to target the employers of illegals just like it makes sense to target the drug dealers vs. the users.

Why do you think agencies like the DEA will offer deals to the users in an attempt to get them to turn on their suppliers? Got nothing? It's to get the traffickers off the street, which not only gets a larger amount of drugs off the street, it sends a message to those who are enabling those committing lesser crimes that they will get caught.

Now, if you take that mentality and apply it to the illegals in this country, why wouldn't you try to stop the employers from picking up someone who is not here legally, who is taking jobs away from citizens, who is not paying income tax, who is... well, you get the idea... or do you?

anon: On a less volatile note: You have a nose for grocery bargains...any thing good this week? Im serious!

Like Lloyd's babyback ribs? I do, and these have generally risen in price to the $16 - $17 range per package. There's a Safeway coupon for $5 off on them with a $10 purchase. Pick up a Fresh Express Asian salad there for under $2.50, grab a couple of other items, and get your ribs for $12 or less.

Into Italian food? If so, you may have noticed that as more and more stores have gone to low-fat ground beef, you just can't make decent, authentic Italian meatballs any more. For that, you need at least 20% ground. And despite the rising costs of beef and other meats in general, New Seasons Market grinds their all-pasture-raised beef fresh daily.

One advantage: while other producers suffer as feed prices explode due to the diversion of corn to ethanol production, beef raised on pastureland don't impose the same costs. So you can pick up a pound of 20% ground at New Seasons for $3.29. 'At's-a somma meataball!

On Daniel - I recall seeing several videos not all that long ago over here, in addition to his frequent photo material. Granted, I'm too lazy to bother trying to search his blog, but I'm sure it can be done.

Some apparently wonder why he doesn't get beat up for taking photos and vido, and frankly, there are a number of reasons why that doesn't happen: for one thing, whenever there's a protest, there's generally an escalated police presence. The last thing illegals or their prospective employers want in such a situation is to initiate any sort of violence. In addition, Daniel is unfailingly polite during the course of his interactions. When he talks with them, he often gets them laughing. It's a reaction one generally doesn't associate with a protest venue, but it's effective.

Finally, he respects property rights: if the folks at El Centro, say, don't want protestors on the parking lot, he moves to public sidewalk areas without complaint or hesitation.

There are other examples, but in essence, his approach is one of absolute non-confrontation.

Unlike some of the anonymice here who would rather engage in name-calling and jeering from the safety of their home keyboards.

Bobkatt said...

Max-you are correct from my point of view. I live in Eugene and have only been to one event that Daniel was at and three that Rick was at and both of them were very polite and non-confrontational. Compare this to the Schumacher fur protest in Portland or the Critical Mass rides and you have some insight.
Thanks to both of them for their efforts.

Just tell me which one? Tell me. Tell me. Can you tell me? Watch them and tell me. Come on, you can tell me! You can't tell me? Really? Really? "That's what I thought." Now "Read me some English!"

I visited the Cornelius PD last week and showed them Daniel's most recent videos. They were not too happy, and we spoke at length.

It seems they received a few calls from people who viewed Daniel's videos right here on his blog, which I find rather funny.

The reason they didn't have a better presence at the demonstration was because they were shorthanded that day, but they have worked out a solution to that in the future, with another agency.

Following up on our meeting, I have been assured, in writing, that Daniel will not be allowed to taunt and toy with these people again.

I'm going to be there from now on to make sure that is the case. Not because I am on "their side" when it comes to entering our country illegally, but because I abhor Daniel's unchecked bigotry and bullying even more.

This really takes the cake BobKatt...and just when I was beginning to think you weren't half bad.

SKYY® Vodka, Made in the USA, Proudly Supports Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

America’s Most-Popular Domestic Vodka Decries Absolut® Vodka’s Suggestion to Redraw North American Map

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo officially ended the Mexican-America War (1846-1848). With the signing of this treaty, the United States gained control of what was to become the Golden West, including California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and parts of Colorado and New Mexico. Today, SKYY® Vodka, the number-one vodka produced in the United States, spoke out against suggestions by Absolut® Vodka to disregard that treaty, as well as the joining of Texas to the Union in 1845, as depicted in Absolut’s recent advertising.

“Like SKYY Vodka, the residents of states like California, Texas and Arizona are exceptionally proud of the fact that they are from the United States of America,” said Dave Karraker, SKYY Vodka. “To imply that they might be interested in changing their mailing addresses, as our competitor seems to be suggesting in their advertising, is a bit presumptuous.”

In the ad, an “Absolut World” is depicted where the map of North America is re-drawn with Mexico claiming much of the Western United States, negating the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, as well as the Gadsden Purchase (1853), and the independence of Texas (1836).

“Don’t get me started on the Gadsden Purchase,” continues Karraker. “I think the folks in Tucson and Yuma would be rubbed the wrong way if they hear this landmark deal was somehow nullified as suggested by Absolut, a Swedish-owned brand.”

Here, at 2:03 p.m.

Following up on our meeting, I have been assured, in writing, that Daniel will not be allowed to taunt and toy with these people again.

I maintain that you have no such letter from CPD. As the late, great furrier "protests" that ran for over a year in Portland have clearly demonstrated, people who choose to protest are guaranteed considerable leeway in so doing - and as noted previously, Daniel's tactics have been quite the opposite of those involved in the Schumacher debacle.

As you have claimed to have received written notice of the intent of CPD to deprive citizens of their right to peaceful assembly in protest of illegal alien day-labor sites, I have called upon you to produce the document.

You make excuses. That's not an adequate substitute for your claim. It's unfortunate that you take great offense at being called a liar, but on the other hand, it should be noted that you appear to have no problem when it comes to offending others.

You heap derision upon the blog owner and upon commenters, but that's no big deal to you. Hey, if they disagree with you, they deserve scorn.

Then you screw up and claim that you have documentation of intent by CPD to deny the right to peaceful assembly. I counter that you do not have any such thing. In the common vernacular, this means that you are lying.

At least I suggest that you back up your claim. In return, you mumble excuses. You gripe about how upsetting it is to be called a liar. You whine.

In fact, with a bit of age, you could well be judged among Oregon's finest whines.

Do let us know if you ever happen to stumble across the document that you claimed to have in your possession.

Dear Max:

You said I claimed that CPD intends to: "...deprive citizens of their right to peaceful assembly in protest of illegal alien day-labor sites..." I said no such thing.

I posted that I have been assured in writing, that:

a) There will be a better police presence at all future demonstrations.

b) There will be no taunting or confrontational contact allowed by protesters from EITHER side of the street.

Max -- how does this translate into your version:

"... deprive citizens of their right to peaceful assembly in protest of illegal alien day-labor sites..."

Wow. That's some interpretation of "no taunting or confrontational contact," Max! Wow! Translate any golden tablets lately? Actually I think the phrase they used was "provocative confrontation" and that in the future there would be no crossing the street by EITHER side for the purpose of provocation.

Who said ANYTHING about depriving ANYONE of their right to assemble? NOT ME. NOT CORNELIUS PD.

You are grossly misrepresenting what I said, Max, I think in the common vernacular that is also called lying.

Not to worry Max, I'll locate my letter. At which point I will be GLAD to get a copy to you.

As I said, I was told Daniel (or OFIR) would also be contacted, so it could very well be that he/they already has a copy of the letter or one similar to it.

As far as scorn and derision heaped upon those who "disagree with me," one can hardly arrive at the conclusion, after reading your posts, that you you are genial and open minded to those who disagree with you. Furthermore, you are hardly a saint when it comes to name calling.
