Oregon: the lack of documentation state

Latino PLWH: Service Needs and Barriers to Care
Several respondents shared that they had heard good things about Portland’s HIV services before moving here, especially about few barriers related to a lack of documentation. The core services used by many of the respondents were the Latino case manager with Partnership Project (OHSU’s HIV case management program), Cascade AIDS Project’s Apoyo Latino Program, and Multnomah County Health Department’s HIV Health Services Center.

Service providers and prevention workers shared their experiences of working with Latinos. When asked what was unique about working with this population the following themes came to the forefront:
Documentation - eligibility for services and fear of deportation

Whether it's giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens who will hit a jogger and leaver her by the side of the road to die or passing out taxpayer funded services one thing is clear: Oregon is the official "lack of documentation" captital of the United States.

Illegal aliens "fear of deportation" is clearly unwarranted in this state.

"Green Cards? We don't need no stinking Green Cards!" This should be Govenor K's new slogan.

As for "Fear of deportation".....well no shit. If I was in Nordstroms Shoplifting, one of my fears would be getting caught too.

Don't want to live in fear of deportation? There's a simple solution to that: Go home.

Go through the proper channels and then come back legally. We'd love to have 'ya, but not as a criminal.

Luckily, I'm exempt from the rule of law myself, and am served by an administration ... er, I mean, serve IN an administration, that doesn't have to go through "proper channels," and I thank Anthony DeLucca for his unwavering and unquestioning support! And Daniel too!

Oh great, here we go again. Honestly I don't understand why some people just can't grow up. Try just once "Dick" to have a purpose in life other than the same BS. I enjoy reading this blog and normally do not post to it, however I am soooo tired of reading the crap that the 4 year olds (yes that would be you Dick)are writing about.

Here's an Idea if you don't have anything to comment about the topic that is posted keep your stupid comments to yourself. You really make yourself look uneducated and very immature.

As long as our government is into making nice with Mexico, we should get their government to agree to having their citizens who are convicted of crimes here to be housed in Mexican jails & our citizens convicted there to be housed here.

Why should an illegal be afraid of getting caught & convicted when the jail/prison is a much better deal for him than living free in Mexico.

Oh great, here we go again ...

Here we go with someone pointing out the yawning chasm of inconsistency between our "rule of law" chest-pounding as it pertains to illegal workers, while ignoring the treasonous and criminal activity of the President most of us schmucks voted for.

I hate it when that comes up ...

To dick 9:01,

That's quite the appropriate "nom de plume" you've chosen for yourself.....Dick.

Anon 11:22,

Treason? Criminal Activity? Show me anywhere in the US Constitution (don't give me any bullshit UN crap) where this administration has committed any crime or any acts of treason. I suppose you could say that attempting to let the illegals off the hook after stealing SSN and such is criminal if that be the case then I agree. Don't even try the bullshit about Iraq!!!!

Oh and for those who feel the need to get off subject and bring up Iraq read below and shut up!!!!!

BAGHDAD (AP) - The highest-ranking Iraqi leader of al-Qaida in Iraq has been arrested and told interrogators that Osama bin Laden's inner circle wields considerable influence over the Iraqi group, the U.S. command said Wednesday.

It ain't bullshit, and if that's how you feel about it, explaining it to you would be as productive as arguing with some fool who is convinced that the moon landings were a hoax. So don't pretend you're interested in a serious response, because you're not.

Don't be a fool Deb

Somehow for these people, the fact The Daily Kos says so is all they need.

Remember the mentality, to these people the following makes sense and is perfectly consistent:

- For those detained at Guantanimo, they are totally innocent until they get a full US court trial.

- Bill Clinton guilty of rape? No way, not simply because Juanita Broderick did a full segment on 60 mins which seemed to partially convince even Mike Wallace as I recall.

- Accusations of child rape ordered to obtain confessions at Gitmo? Totally true until disproved. Terrorists picked up on the battlefield are to be believed over our own people.

- Grief over Iraqi casualties, unbounded, Bush and Cheney are guilty of mass murder.

- Concern over the killing field that will follow when the left gets the withdrawal they want? None. Cambodia is a non event for these kids because it didn't happen in their lifetime.

Oh yeah, I forgot

Doesn't anyone think about how much better our lives would be with the ammount of money thats subsadized for illegals? I read somewheres in just one county alone in California it was $68 million dollars!!!!! Imagine what that could do for putting police back on our streets, fully funding schools, our elderly not having to worry about fucking medicare or prescriptions, and money to create jobs for Americans. Come on people this isnt a hard issue. Lets all get on board and do the right thing. Close our boarders, cease social services to undocuments aliens, stiffer fines against employers that hire illegals, MASS DEPORTATION, no favors upon trying to reenter the US and to take into account they have allready commited a crime by coming here illegaly in the first place, MANDATORY ENGLISH CLASSES PAID OUT OF THEIR POCKET. There are worse things in the world yes but right now? I have no job, I have no money. Granted I have a injury that prevents me from taking any joe job where I have to stand for 8 hours a day. I am looking. I visit my local workforce office everyday. I ask family for help before I ask for social services cause there are others that are in WAY worse shape then I. Lets hold our governer accountable for not complying with FEDERAL LAWS. We all know the guys a fucking idiot anyways so lets not let him get away with making our society worse.

Watch "Shooter" it's an amazing movie.

Anon 2:58,

Yes, "The Shooter" is an interesting movie. But that's exactly what it is......a Hollywood work of fiction.

If your post was meant to somehow equate real life political happenings with those of a fictional screenplay, well then you reeeeeeaaally need to get out more.

I thought that Close Encounters was a cool movie too, but you don't see me sculpting mashed potatos at the dinner table.

While I'm in agreement with your post, I'd like to offer two words of friendly advise to make your future posts a little more credible:

SPELL CHECK

Not that this conversation is going anywhere productive, and not that anyone will even believe me, but will someone tell me what The Daily Kos is? The only place I've ever seen it mentioned is on this blog, and I honestly don't even know what the hell it is. A web site, I assume?

Daniel said...

Daily Kos is a lefty blog. I enjoy the local lefties more though. BlueOregon and the Portland Indymedia are my favorites.

Save the whales.

And the turtles, Mr. Daniel!

BTW, lefties, the latest news is that the coyotes are blowing off the poor mehicans, because the jihadists are willing to pay a lot more to get into America. I hope they visit your houses first, 'cause you aren't armed as well as Rosie or Michael Moore. (or most actual Patriots).....sleep well.

To pick on my for my spelling has nothing to do with my credability. It only shows how little you have to do in your life. FUCK OFF

Rule of law? Hang Bulglar first, then we will talk about the rule of law.

I work in this field. If anyone has any questions, ask away.

First of all, the Feds mandate that HIV infection makes an applicant for residency excludable from the US. That said, governments at various levels still provide HIV services to illegal aliens. For example, Oregon has a program in place, with Federal help, to provide treatment services, among other services, to this group of people.

Next, my experience working with illegals today is that almost none of them fear deportation or the INS. This is a big change from where things were at 15 years ago when I first came into government. Back then, fear of deportation was a major barrier for these people. That fear has since been replaced with a demand mentality. I've never seen so many illegal aliens DEMAND services from government as I do today. It gets worse and worse every year. Really.

Like I said. Any questions? Ask away.

I got your rule of law rat-cheer:

• Marine convicted: A military jury in Camp Pendleton, Calif., Wednesday convicted a Marine of kidnapping and conspiring to murder an Iraqi man in a bungled attempt to abduct and kill a suspected insurgent in Hamandiya. Cpl. Trent Thomas was acquitted of premeditated murder, making a false official statement and housebreaking. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. Thomas, 25, was the first of seven Marines and a Navy corpsman to go to trial in the killing, which squad members tried to cover up by planting a gun near the victim.

It is good to know the rule of law applies to some of us. The Pedophile Republican Party and Sexually Deviant Christian Right on the other hand is exempt.

Rule of law democrat style:

Vandals attack man's Hummer, leave note
WASHINGTON - When Gareth Groves brought home his massive new Hummer, he knew his environmentally friendly neighbors disapproved. But he didn't expect what happened next. The sport utility vehicle was parked for five days on the street before two masked men smashed the windows, slashed the tires and scratched into the body: "FOR THE ENVIRON."

"The thought of somebody vandalizing it never crossed my mind," said Gareth Groves, who lives near American University in Northwest Washington. "I've kind of been in shock."

Police said they see small acts of vandalism in the area from time to time, but they have not seen anything so severe, or with such a clear political message, in recent years.

"This seems to be an isolated event," Cmdr. Andy Solberg said.

Investigators said they are searching for the vandals but don't have many leads. Witnesses said they saw two men smash up the seven-foot-tall SUV early Monday and then run off.

Now, as Groves contemplates what to do with the remains of his $38,000 Hummer, he has had to deal with a number of people who have driven by the crime scene and glared at him in smug satisfaction.

"I'd say one in five people who come by have that 'you-got-what-you-deserve' look," said his friend Andy Sexton.

Neighbor Lucille Liem, who owns a Prius hybrid, said that a common sentiment in the neighborhood is that large vehicles such as the Hummer are impractical and a strain on the Earth.

"The neighborhood in general is very concerned with the environment," said Liem, whose Prius gets about 48 miles a gallon compared with the Hummer's 14 miles a gallon. "It's more liberal leaning. It's ridiculous to be driving a Hummer."

Liem quickly added that she does not condone violence.

What is ironic is that everybody with half a brain knows that Hummers are better for environment than Prius.
