Raza Unida Youth Conference
t is our pleasure to announce that M.E.Ch.A. de UO will be hosting the 7th annual Raza Unida Youth Conference (RUYC) on February 23, 2011. As you may already know the RUYC is an all day event where we invite Latina/o high school students from Lane County and other parts of the state to come to our campus and participate in a day filled with workshops, Keynotes, a campus tour and the building of relationships
One of our primary goals is the recruitment and retention of Oregon’s Chicana/o and Latina/o students. M.E.Ch.A.’s intent is to ensure that Chicano/a and Latino/a cultures and philosophies are being represented at the University of Oregon and in our surrounding communities.
Please note your skin color before attempting to attend this function being held at a public university. You may also want to avoid the campus on this day if you are a 12 year old girl since they will be celebrating Latino culture and philosophies.

If I get a suntan and speak only spanish, can I attend? I'm sure the democRATS will denounce this clearly racists and bigoted event. Ha ha, like they will do the right thing.
The only possible reason they might (and that's a big "might") have for not admitting someone (that is in accordance with both the law and UO anti-discrimination policy) is that they're not a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT and/or that they're not from LANE COUNTY. The idea that they're going to turn away someone who isn't Latino because they're not Latino is laughable fiction invented by Daniel Miglavs for his blog, and in no way reflective of the real world. So yeah Miglavs, if you show up wanting to hang out with a bunch of teenagers for the day, yeah, they might actually turn you away. (A smarter response, frankly, would be to call the police about the creepy thirtysomething ex-con gun-lover who wants to crash a youth conference.) But guess what? It won't have have a goddamned thing to do with your skin color.
Let us also not forget that this culture/plilosophy should include driving while drunk, fleeing the scene, driving w/o insurance. All young girls should be aware that they are sex objects (Mexico's age of consent 12) and may get snail kisses/whistles/calls. I am sick of this "culture" being shoved down my throat. Of all the immigrants the Mexican immigrants are the most repulsive in my opinion. I wish Mexico would sink into the ocean already.
FYI to those who think this group of people are not catered to. I know a person who works in Chemeketa Community College's multicultural center who has shared inside information concerning this institutions treatment of certain individuals. It seems that this college is providing illegal or undocumented individuals with identification that allows said individuals access to multiple services. This insider has also attempted to speak with their superior as to the legality of this practice. This person was told that they "just do not talk about it." Something is rotten in Denmark people. I would not post if I thought this person was uncredible. This person is a long known friend who was conflicted about having this information and needed advice. I wish I knew what to tell them, this is something that needs to be investigated thoroughly. It is apparent that certain businesses or educational institutions feel they are untouchable and will do what is necessary for the almighty dollar despite the devastation to American people as a consequence. The obvious secrecy that the college seems to operate on is an indication of guilt. When is this going to stop? Really? When are we going to put the American people first? Where are the American people going to flee to like the citizens of Mexico so easily do on a daily basis? We do not want to flee our beloved country, we need to stay and fight for what is rightfully ours.
