Police arrested a man they said flashed a handgun during an argument at the Occupy Portland encampment Wednesday afternoon.
Parker was taking video at the camp when several demonstrators "verbally challenged" him, police said. During the argument, one of the demonstrators used a racial slur at Parker, who then showed a gun he had tucked in his waistband.
Parker is a concealed handgun license owner, police said.
The irony of a non-participant being arrested for disorderly conduct during an occupy event is just too much for me.
There is no law (or city ordinance) against video taping people. There is no law (or city ordinance) against openly displaying a firearm if you have a concealed handgun license. There are however laws (or city ordinances) against camping in the parks, blocking traffic, etc.
But people who carry firearms aren't politically popular with the Portland Commissars so this guy gets arrested. And it doesn't fit the media template to tell us that this guy was black and what racial slur was used.
There are laws against pointing a firearm at another person (ORS 166.190) but the same cops who for days ignored alcohol and drug use downtown arrest the guy on disorderly conduct.
Disorderly conduct is everything that these protestors have done:
166.025 Disorderly conduct in the second degree. (1) A person commits the crime of disorderly conduct in the second degree if, with intent to cause public inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk thereof, the person:
(a)
Engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior;
(b)
Makes unreasonable noise;
(c)
Disturbs any lawful assembly of persons without lawful authority;
(d)
Obstructs vehicular or pedestrian traffic on a public way;
(e)
Congregates with other persons in a public place and refuses to comply with a
lawful order of the police to disperse;
(f)
Initiates or circulates a report, knowing it to be false, concerning an alleged
or impending fire, explosion, crime, catastrophe or other emergency; or
(g)
Creates a hazardous or physically offensive condition by any act which the
person is not licensed or privileged to do.
(2)
Disorderly conduct in the second degree is a Class B misdemeanor.
How does displaying a firearm to these hippies fall into this statute?

Jesus Danial, you are a danger to yourself and others.
163.190 Menacing. (1) A person commits the crime of menacing if by word or conduct the person intentionally attempts to place another person in fear of imminent serious physical injury.
Sounds like a teabagging gun lover. I bet he listens to Liars Larson the Fat Body.
This person was not charged under 163.190
Why did the clown brandish the firearm? What kind of chicken sh*t peace of garbage does that?
A chicken sh*t peace of garbage that was threatened and wanted to prevent violence by showing the thugs he was readya and willing to defend himself. I might add that the 2nd amendment clearly states this is his right and neither the federal nor state government can take that right from him.
ANON 6:23, you seem to be the danger to yourself and the community at large. He was arrested for disorderly conduct. Most Americans learned reading comprehension in grade school. You failed. Probably some border jumper was ahead of you in the line and stole your education. Do you now understand why we bitch about the criminal aliens stealing the educations of American children. You are a prime example of the theft of an education. LOL!
ANON 11:11 PM Are you sure he brandished a firearm? Were you there? We all know the occupy kids are nothing but idiots and would you believe their word against an individual who has passed a criminal background check? The folks who carry guns with a permit are the group with commit the lowest number of crimes.
We could just as easily say it sounded like the occupy group acted just like the rest of the occupy groups and tried to threaten an individual who carried a gun legally.
Hopefully, the truth will come out.
The guy with the gun sounds like a complete coward

On an unrelated note: I rarely visit the local Burger King, but was in the area and stopped by - and found it completely changed: gone were the surly, no-speaka-da-Eenglish latinos who'd formerly staffed the joint.
In their place were friendly, English-literate folks who appeared to be of Indian and Caucasian descent. Prominently displayed on a wall: a poster noting that this business uses E-Verify.
I plan to visit more often.
Which one max, I stopped going to burger king, mcdonalds and jack in the box years ago. Nobody spoke English in those places. I will go to Dairy Queen. The couple I've been to have all English speaking workers.
It's across the road from the Tigard Fred Meyer. Nice folks; nothing like it was before they went to E-Verify.
Thank max. The next time I roll by I'll make it a point to stop there and let them know that I'm stopping by because they hire citizens and legal immigrants. I've stopped going to other local places. Denny's is terrible too. The last time (several years ago) I went to one, I mostly heard spanish as I was sitting at the counter. I paid for my coffee and told the waitress since I'm hearing spanish from the people who handle my food, I'll eat elsewhere. I haven't been back since then.
A woman and her passive, submissive husband take their young children into a buffet restaurant with a bag to place under the table where all participated in filling with bacon for their breakfast the following day.
Then they wonder why they have to pick the kid up for shoplifting.
Good thing it was conducted well. The listeners heard it clearly.
