Who cares?

Over at BlueOregon, where they hate black people, (I keep saying it so it must be true!) they have been harping to find a business that has left Oregon because of the Measure 66/67 tax increases.

For the sake of argument let's pretend that no business or individual has left because of the tax increases. Who cares? Why is it moral to give the government a larger slice of the pie? If a business and individual can "afford" to pay the higher taxes does that make it just to take their earned income?

If taxes could be raised further without a single company leaving does that mean we should do it? At what point is enough enough? The lefties only answer is "how much will you give us?"

If the government got 90% of every companies profits and they didn't leave would that make it right? Why does the state deserve that money?

When an individual earns money, what percentage of it does the state deserve? Why is it more important for the government to have that money than the person who earned it?

Whose money is it? Do we exist to support the government or does the government exist to do the limited functions that we the people require to maintain an orderly society?

Do you work with the intention of contributing to the state's coffers or to provide for your own dreams, goals and wants? Does a business exist to provide a product or service that people want to purchase or are they here to make sure that government employees have guaranteed employment?

To me the "how many businesses have left" question is not how this issue should be framed. "How much is enough" is the question that I want answered.

Well on the Radio last week on Victoria Taft, a Biz Investor from the state of Nevada was Bragging and naming Companies that were going to expand in Oregon but have now been lured to NO income Tax-Nevada.

Most of the Companies named were in S. Oregon and comprehend lower overhead via Nevada as opposed to BIG-overhead (Gov't) here, Duh!

Really-Blue-Oregon Hippies just don't like LOGIC or Reality.

The idea is that companies pay their far share. If they are too greedy they should leave the state.

What is their fair share? Are you paying your fair share? I doubt it.

Are government employees paying their fair share? Are government employees taking more than their fair share from the public monies?

Are the unions paying their fair share? Are the unions receiving a disproportionate share of public monies?

I will help you out on these two questions. No on the first question and yes on the second question.

That was the rate before Jan 1, 2009. What is it now? I can tell you M66/67 has stolen my girlfriends Christmas bonus. Since she is working about 20% less hours, her Christmas bonus was for her daughter's Christmas presents. I guess it is more important that government workers get a raise than here daughter get Christmas presents.

I thought the liberals were supposed to care about the children? It looks like they steal from children.

That should be the democrats motto, steal from children we can get a raise.

I am just glad that 66 and 67 makes the deadbeats accountable. Those that "can't pay their taxes" should go out of business. And those that say they aren't making any money are poor at their business and should go out of business.

Christmas bonus for presents? Why doesn't she manage her money better or get a better job? Seems kind of lazy to depend on a handout from your employer to bey Christmas presents.

There is a Toys for Tots organization that might be able to help her out.

The single most obstruction to our economic recovery is uncertainty. Uncertainty as to what the government is going to do next in their attempt to micromanage the economy. The very people that caused the economic problems are now demanding more authority and regulations to repair the problem.
It's easy to vilify businesses and corporations but they are nothing but a group of individual people. Some are greedy but a majority are simply trying to make a living. The corporations don't pay taxes. The cost is simply past along to the customer as a cost of doing business.
It seems odd that the very people that accuse businesses of being greedy are the ones that are demanding a higher portion of other peoples money.
If you think that the whole tax system is messed up and that some people and businesses don't pay their fair share and that corporations are now running the government please consider the Fair Tax". This seems like a well thought out alternative to the thousands of pages of IRS regulations we have now.

NO, you can't. There's been some real nationwide problems in the economy lately. I can't believe you haven't heard about them.

Where's the coward of the county, anyways?

I love this argument. I heard it lots of times about 66/67. The truth is Gov can not create private sector jobs. Only Gov jobs that rely on private sector taxes. The only other way they can create jobs is to create a business friendly environment. That means decreasing unneeded regulations and decreasing taxes. So how does this argument stand up to helping Oregon out of this economic slump?

Dave, do you find it useful to basically lump ALL government employees, and all union employees, together? Does that simplify your world? Does it make it easier to arrive at uninformed, poorly-reasoned conclusions about things you have no actual experience with? About things that have little to no direct impact on your life?

No need to answer. I know the answer.

I miss the old days. Back in 1996 Congress took the internet away from the National Science Foundation and gave it to the Commerce Department.

That's about the time people stopped needing triple digit IQ's to get on the internet.

Hey Daniel, did you know Obamas doing a lot more ICE raids than Bush?

Kudos to Obama for any effort to stop illegal immigration. No one would suggest that Bush upheld his constitutional oath to protect America.
One thing I don't see anyone on either side of the issue complaining about is Obama allowing Border Patrol to intercept transportation within 100 miles of the U.S. border and demand to see papers. To me this seems highly unconstitutional because most of these people never even crossed the border and committed no crime.

Anon 9:26, I've pounded on Miglavs as mercilessly as any liberal (even though I'm not one) for his political views, so I hope this carries some weight: Get lost, or stick to issues. You're acting like a wayward child. Miglavs may also act like a child (in my opinion) but at least he has something to say about issues that concern him. You don't. Take your meds, and take it someplace else.

Never heard of this "maglevs". This idiot 'Daniel' who wants to run the world can't even run his own blog.

That's Daniel on the left, isn't it?

I always used to think that "Hey Jackass ... get your government off my freedom!" was some stupid phrase Miglavs came up with, with him thinking it was cool and "funny," and then I was flipping radio stations the other day, and during the lead-in to Lars (or maybe it was Beck, not that there's much difference) they have some guy hollering it at the top of his lungs like he's audioning for "Hee-Haw." So: It's something stupid that Miglavs copied from someone else.

Lame, Miglavs. Lame.

The state of Oregon did not manage their (our tax) money very well. It seems kind of lazy for the government to rely on additional handouts (taxes) from the taxpayers doesn't it?

Why are you not telling the government to manage their (our tax) money better? Why are you not telling them to stop being lazy?

Didn't obama say he wouldn't rest until the gulf was cleaned up? He's sure done a lot of resting, I mean golfing since the gulf spill. He has beaten carter as the worst president ever. It only took eighteen months.

Do you miss Bush yet? People sure are resting under obama, under bush they were working.

The left is confused and they know they had such a small time to "reign".
It's embarrassing, especially considering how Clinton's reign ended.
I guess they have learned how difficult it is to run a nation and keep everyone happy.

I just went to a medical facility for a test. A group of three were there speaking Espanol.
One woman appeared to be the translator and actually said very loud that she was a DHS employee. Great. Then she translated facts about how the bill would be not covered - yes, NOT covered - and how the patient would need to pay some part of the bill.
I wanted to get sick. Translators - in person - are very expensive! I don't care if these immigrants pick irises (not necessary for our survival) or work for Bailey's (nursery plants). I know we don't need this many illegals and/or legal immigrants!
If Americans needed or wanted an assistant to "help" them get OHP, they would be out of luck!
(I was raised in a liberal home and am an ex-Democrat.)

I worked for Medicaid and white or black or Asian recipients never got any special assistant to go IN PERSON to an appointment.
I cannot believe how the State of ORegon is spending our money.
I want to scream!
Benefits are turned DOWN everyday for Oregonians who grew up here.
Meanwhile, Mexicans come here and will harrass Medicaid employees for months for coverage. I remember particular cases.
