They can't read but they can recycle

The Oregon Environmental Literacy Task Force will meet on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm. The meeting will be held in Room 251A on the second floor of the Public Service Building, 255 Capitol Street NE, Salem OR.

HB 2544, also known as the "No Child Left Inside Act," created the 11-member Oregon Environmental Literacy Task Force. The Task Force is charged with developing the Oregon Environmental Literacy Plan and reporting back to the Legislature by October 1, 2010.

Another meeting of public servants who will endlessly discuss how to "secure funding" for future meetings such as this.

Ultimately they hope to indoctrinate our children, not just waste taxpayer funds. These meetings are open to the public...

I would like to know if the Federal $26000000000 August bailout is funding this Oregon Legislative Assembly emergency or will it be our money?

In my joyful retirement I travel when I get the chance. I often see flatbed 18 wheelers loaded with bales of recycled cardboard. They seem to be traveling many many miles headed somewhere in the Willamette Valley where they are no doubt turned into paper or cardboard. I wonder how many gallons of diesel are burned to bring a couple dollars worth of cardboard here so we can "claim" we recycled it thus saving the environment. Where is the common sense??? But the crowning irony was as I followed one of these 18 wheelers spouting fumes and black smoke up the Santiam Pass we drove past acres and hundreds of acres of burned trees standing where there was once a great forest. We can't harvest the dead trees in our backyard to make paper or whatever but we can drive a diesel guzzling 18 wheeler 1000 miles to recycle some cardboard. Is there anyone who can explain this???
