Conventional wisdom

Almost nothing makes sense coming from folks who are in favor of illegal aliens. Republicans insist that these criminals are the new conservative constiuency. (I guess "willingness to break laws" will be replacing "personal responsibility" as a plank in the Republican platform) But every group that "represents" these folks are openly partisan left.

Over at CAUSA they even put all the D's in bold typeface while the R's are relegated to the bottom of the list.

Then the liberal proponents of illegal aliens insist that Respect for Law folks are racist bigots who kill puppies when not oppressing minorities. These are the same CAUSA folks who say that restricting drivers licenses to legal residents affects the "Latino community."

Being Latino doesn't mean that you aren't an American or a legal resident. Why would you lump in a racial demographic with criminal aliens like that? CAUSA also plans to "launch the largest Latino voter registration campaign in the history of Oregon." They must be passing them out by the drinking fountain that I'm not allowed to use.

Based on last night's election results there are two things I am now going to do: find out who the Consitution Party candidate is so I know which bubble to fill in and stop paying my mortgage because Hillary is going to take care of it.

I wish an illegal alien had been doing my job today so that I could have been in Salem for the rally in support of the Respect for Law Act.

On December 17th, OFIR reserved the Capitol steps for our demonstration. The rules governing usage of the Capitol steps state that only one organization can use the steps in an organized demonstration. Obviously the illegal aliens and their supporters do not believe that rules apply to them.

Illegal aliens not concered with following the rules? Will wonders never cease. If anyone had photos/videos of todays event feel free to send them to me and I will post them with full credit to you.

According to the Diversity page at taxpayer funded University of Oregon there is going to be a discussion on feminism Friday, Feb 1st @ 3pm.

In case you were wondering how an event could be held at 3pm on a weekday and still get attendance it's because women don't have 9 - 5 jobs. They will however, have to get someone to watch the kids during this and I hope that it doesn't go too long because when hubby gets home a little after 5 o'clock he's going to want his dinner...

Break the law for money

Drug trafficking suspects sentenced
The last of three men caught with a kilo of cocaine last month during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 near Rice Hill was sentenced Tuesday in Douglas County Circuit Court.

Ramirez, the only one of the three Mexican nationals to receive a prison sentence, was ordered to serve 16 months. He also received six months for the possession charge, but that time will run concurrently.

Ramirez’s defense attorney Angela Kuhn said the case was complicated and muddied further by language barriers.

Addressing Seitz in Spanish while entering his plea, Ramirez said he committed the crime because he needed to make money.

In the world of the illegal alien apologists, "needing to make money" is a perfectly good reason to break the law. I know, let's give these guys drivers licenses and some "stimulus checks."

Like the other two men, Ramirez was given probation, but it is unlikely that it will be served because all three men, in the country illegally, are expected to be turned over to immigration officials for likely deportation once their sentences have been served.

The prestigious Bradbury award?

Marketing is a science and advertisers know who their target audience/demographic is when they use advertising money. So when a commerical for "indoor gardening products" is aired at 12am you know who they are shooting for. (hint: it's not folks growing tomatos)

Yes, everything from grow lights to "odor masking products" can be found at AmericanAg. Now which plants is it that smells? Is it carrots or... hippy lettuce?

But the best part of all this is the fact that the company that is clearly targeting marijuana growers has won an award... from Secretary of State Bill Bradbury!!

TriMet reaches out to criminals

TriMet reaches out to non-English speaking riders
"The agency scores $500K to hire an outreach specialist"

That byline just takes the cake. Half a million tax dollars are simply "scored" by a public agency for garbage.

Gonzalez, who has spent his career promoting educational access for poor and minority students, signed on as TriMet's new limited-English proficiency outreach coordinator in December.

The new position is funded by a $500,000, three-year grant from the Federal Transit Administration established to develop ways to better connect people who speak little English to public transportation. The agency is the first, and only, transit district in the country to receive the grant.

The first and hopefully last.

Gonzalez is past board president and a founder of the Latino Network and a former board president of Centro Cultural.

Perhaps TriMet is anticipating increased ridership due to the "newly arrived residents from Latin America" (their words) inability to get a drivers license. But it is facinating that even in the midst of all the violence on TriMet that is getting the agency so much scrutiny they seem to think that $500,000 is better spent trying to lure criminals onto mass transit rather than hire law enforcement to keep criminals off.

I do notice that it is frequently the liberal blogs who disallow the free speech, I'm famously banned from BlueOregon by Kari Chisholm, (who is freqently quoted by the Fishwrapper) while I let all comments stand here.

RE: the nurseries support for illegal aliens

I used to buy my plants for a high price at nurseries. That is, until I found a cheaper way, and since we all know cheaper is better no matter let me explain:

I simply go to the woods and dig up my own "undocumented plants." I have undocumented trees and shrubs that simply came to my yard for a better life. You see, the soil wasn't as fertile where they were growing so I'm actually helping them.

If I get caught in the act of helping the undocumented plants out of the woods I'll be in trouble but once they are in my yard they simply blend in with the other plants and no one cares. Think of all the money that I'm saving.

Now I know that those nativists from the nurseries have antiquated notions about "laws" and "their plants are better" but I can't see any consequences from this. Actually there were some new spots on the leaves of my current plants and I did notice a ravenous beatle I hadn't seen before but no matter, in the short term I get my plants on the cheap and screw everyone else.

For those that wonder why I wrote this parody here is the story.

Driving home I passed the sign outside my kid's elementary school that said "thank you school board." My first thought: great, I'm getting screwed.

I get home to find out that our brave new schools are passing out pamphlets about taking the Earned Income Tax Credit. Thankfully the brochure had a Spanish section because my English is a little fuzzy.

Here's some math: if the schools get 10% more funding will our children get

A) 10% better education
B) 10% more education
C) 10% more garbage sent home in the form of Spanish pamphlets

New Rules Adopted On Driver Licenses
The Oregon Transportation Commission adopted new rules Thursday regulating the issuance of driver licenses.

Under rules that take effect Feb. 4, applicants must show proof of residence to get an Oregon license. When a customer comes to an Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles office to apply for a first-time, renewal or replacement card, the DMV will electronically verify the Social Security number provided.

Thank you for everyone who wrote/complained/called/etc. Thank you to OFIR. We are starting to remove the rewards for breaking our laws. Let the exodus begin...

Defending the indefensible

It is funny to watch folks try to defend drivers licenses for illegal aliens. (ssssshhhhh, don't call them illegal aliens, call them "immigrants") If you also want to watch the friends of illegal aliens tie themselves in knots trying not to say the word "illegal" no matter what check out CAUSA's new video:



One guy actually says "illegal" and then corrects himself and says "undocumented." This is the same guy who insists that an ITIN is "issued by a federal agency that does security checks" and could be used to ID folks to get a driving priviledge card.

No. ITINs are not valid identification outside the tax system. Since ITINs are strictly for tax processing, IRS does not apply the same standards as agencies that provide genuine identity certification.

I know it's hard to believe that folks would lie to protect criminals but there you go...

Romney Wins Michigan GOP Primary
The former Massachusetts governor defeated John McCain, the Arizona senator who was hoping that independents and Democrats would join Republicans to help him repeat his 2000 triumph here. Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor, trailed in third, and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson was waiting for the top three candidates in South Carolina, already campaigning.

McCain wants the democrats to vote for him, Romney was endorsed by Tom Tancredo. Nuff said.

It's funny because they don't get it

I wholeheartely encourage more public displays by the criminals. Clearly it works in your favor to demonstrate that "out of the shadows" is a myth, that you show loyalty to foreign countries by waving their flags and how you refuse to speak English.

Hundreds gather to protest driver's license rules
Several hundred people, mostly Latino, are rallying on the Capitol steps in protest of strict new driver's license rules scheduled that will make it harder for illegal immigrants to drive.

Signs in Spanish and in English pleaded against the change, scheduled to start Feb. 4. One large banner read: "Taking our driver license away take our honesty away. We don't want to be outlaws."

I got news for you my illegal amigos: you are already dishonest and you are already outlaws.

You can "not ask" and "demand" all you want, you aren't getting it.

Make every illegal vote count

Every time a newspaper needs a quote in support of illegal aliens they turn to Ramon Ramirez. (of PCUN) So where does Bill Bradbury turn when he needs someone to help him "get out the vote"? Hey, Ramon Ramirez again! (scroll down the page, third from the bottom)

But I'm positive that he wouldn't be trying to register illegal voters. No way. He's all about following all the laws... except for those ones that he doesn't like.

Convened by Mayor Tom Potter

1. Create an office of immigrant and refugee affairs, with a multi-ethnic staff...
New city department that will take money from police, roads, etc.

2. Establish a multicultural community center that... offers opportunities for people of different ethnicities to mingle.
Because if government doesn't make a "multicural community center" then people will not have any opportunity to "mingle."

3. Provide additional resources for immigrant and refugee organizations to train or support their constituents in civic engagement.
Give tax dollars to La Raza for "get out the vote" efforts.

4. Conduct a professional evaluation to (1) assess the City’s current Human Resources (HR) policies and practices, and (2) recommend changes that would result in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of multilingual and multicultural staff...
Professional evaluation = someones campaign contributions get rewarded with a consulting job, the rest is just code for "don't hire white males who speak English."

But it doesn't stop there folks, in addition to these valuable recommendations the task force has a list of "what's working" and "what's not."

Working:
The City is attempting to diversify its workforce, it is taking more of an interest in helping immigrants and refugees, and it is more frequently funneling funding directly to immigrant and refugee communities, rather than through a third party.

Not working:
In addition, Portland’s immigrants and refugees may be hesitant to interact with someone outside their own culture or to make use of services or facilities that do not exhibit some degree of racial or ethnic diversity. For some immigrants, not seeing someone “like themselves” suggests that the facility, activity, or service is not for people like them.
Not wanting to interact with people "like themselves"... what's that called again? Oh yeah, racism.

Some immigrants and refugees in Portland are dealing with addressing their basic needs for food, clothing, housing, and health care and do not have time and energy to focus on civic involvement, leadership development, or community advocacy.
You know, if I couldn't feed, clothe, house, provide medical care for my family I also wouldn't have time for "civic involvement" (or this blog) because I would BE OUT LOOKING FOR A JOB!

It's so fun paying for illegal aliens health care

The Oregon Health Fund Board was created by Senate Bill 329. (The Healthy Oregon Act) The Board is developing a comprehensive plan to achieve the Oregon Health Fund program goals outlined in SB 329.

I'm already afraid...

Invited testimony: Karen House, DHS Children and Families regarding current federal program eligibility related to citizenship or immigration status.

This meeting already happened last month. The conclusions:
Health Equities Committee Policy Recommendations on Citizenship
As consistent with current practices in the private marketplace, no citizenship documentation requirements will be in place to participate in the Oregon Health Fund program.

That means goodies for illegals.

Individuals and families receiving subsidies through the Trust will be required to participate in an insurance product that ensures patient centered-primary care in a culturally-appropriate and linguistically-competent medical home.

That means the service provider will have brown skin and speak Spanish. Dead serious.

So these boards/committees have already decided that illegal aliens should be at the trough, what's in store for future meetings?

You know what culturally competent means, "funding mechanism" is always another tax, fee, excise, surcharge, etc but it all comes from you and "empower [us] to make health[y] lifestyle choices" means that Wendy's will have to take the "Baconator" off their menu.

Ramon and PCUN

Kulongoski won't delay new license rules
Gov. Ted Kulongoski on Thursday refused to delay implementation of stiffer Oregon driver's license rules, angering Hispanic community leaders and immigrant-advocacy groups while pleasing opponents of illegal immigration.

Ramon Ramirez, the president of the Northwest Treeplanters and Farmworkers United, the state's largest farmworker union, accused Kulongoski of not valuing the state's Latino [illegal] immigrant community.

Latino immigrants have nothing to fear, it's illegal aliens who will be affected. But just so we are on the same page with who PCUN and Ramon Ramirez are:

Translated: the proposal of the Senate is an advance but it is not sufficient

This was when the Senate passed the S.2611 amnesty bill. But amnesty was not enough. They wanted a bill that "leads to citizenship for immigrants who are here today and those who come in the future." Aka open borders.

Ramon Ramirez can be seen on the far right presiding over a rally during which the Mexican flag wavers and communists supported illegal aliens getting state services inside a private union hall. (We protested)

Way to go Ramon, your boys make such compelling arguments in favor of illegal aliens. And communist groups are so mainstream Ramon, how come you don't list them as your supporters when you talk to Thelma at the Statesman Journal?

Ramon and PCUN are so fringe that for the SJ to quote them would be like a financial article about the NYSE getting quotes from nutjobs who insist that our only legal currency is gold.

Senator Wants Tax On Video Games
A Senator from Wisconsin wants to mandate an extra tax on video games because he claims they are linked to juvenile crime.

Jon Erpenbach, who sits on the Wisconsin State Senate, has proposed a bill that would add an additional one percent sales tax specifically to video and computer games.

His specific goal is to generate enough money into the program to allow 17-year-olds to be treated as minors. Wisconsin previously passed a law that dictated that 17-year-old residents charged with a crime should be treated as adults.

Blame an inanimate object for a person's choices and actions, raise taxes and be soft on crime all with one bill? If only they could somehow incorporate more abortions then this would be the perfect piece of democrat legislation.

Merry Christmas to all who read my blog!

No sales tax

No I would not trade a reduction in the state income tax for the addition of a sales tax. Here is why:

The money gets taxed when I earn it and then it gets taxed when I spend it. If only they could figure out how to tax it while it's in my checking account the circle would be complete.

There would have to be a brand new "State of Oregon building for the Implementation and Collection of the Sales Tax" created. It would be filled with PERS recipients with job titles like "Sales Tax Cultural Competency Coordinator" and "Sales Tax diversity Manager." This grows government. Now if the proposal is "revenue neutral" meaning that the state would collect the same that they do under the current plan we will simply get less service because they will be spending more on state payroll.

It would be like switching from one 40-hour a week job to two 20-hour a week jobs at the same salary. You are worse off because you now have increased commute time and generally made things more complicated.

Next I would like to point out that the proposal to lower the income tax but add a sales tax operates from a position of weakness. It says that government isn't too big. It pretends that the government has multiple revenue streams when there is really only one source of money: US!

If we have identified a tax that is too high, like the income tax, then let's float a proposal to lower it. Why would a conservative pair that up with a proposal to raise another tax? To make sure that public art doesn't take a hit? To keep the needle exchange programs running on weekends? To make sure that we can hire more Art Therapists?

Government doesn't need more money and it doesn't need the same amount it is getting now, it needs LESS. If you need any evidence of this just look at my "50 cuts" posts.

As far as I can tell, it's mostly secular liberals swooning over Huckabee. Liberals adore Huckabee because he fits their image of what an evangelical should be: stupid and easily led.

Once you are done reading that you can note that Tom Tancredo will be dropping out of the presidential race so I will be switching my endorsement to Mitt Romney.

I would also like to put out a thank you to reader Calhoun who took the time to look up previous comments I made regarding Bruce.

Scumbag arrested

Now I haven't looked at today's comments yet but I'm almost positive they are teeming with shouts of glee that someone who has commented here in the past has been arrested for the horrible crimes of sex abuse. I am a regular reader of CAUSABlog and ran across this story.

Anyone who is crowing about this is sick. I take no pleasure in finding out that someone hurts children. Politics doesn't enter the picture when it comes to this, punishing the perp to the maximum extent of the law is what is important.

But over at CAUSA Blog (where this couldn't happen because they don't allow comments) they seem to think that having one person with a particular political view being a dirtbag should somehow reflect on everyone with that same political viewpoint.

If all it takes to be my "close ally" is that I allow you to post comments on my site then everyone is my "close ally" because I ALLOW EVERYONE TO POST COMMENTS ON MY SITE.

But let's actually talk the facts here: I, as a conservative, believe that if this man is convicted he should get the death penalty.

Liberals (the ones who aren't hyperventilating in excited comments on my blog, comments that are still unread at this point) think that he shouldn't even have mandatory minimum sentencing, that if any of his made-up rights were violated then he should get off scott-free and that treatment is the best path because prisons are "just warehouses for people."

You tell me who this scumbag wants in his corner now.

DHS needs to go

Clearly the most dangerous government agency known to man is the one that can take your children on a whim. Obviously we have the legislative, executive and judicial branches of the government but now we must at the bureaucratic branch as well.

This branch of government has the power of deportation, legal kidnapping, garnishment, search and spying. All while operating under the cover of "privacy."

I am positive that DHS could, without evidence "beyond a reasonable doubt" that any crime has been committed, go to the government school and remove your children while you are at work. It would then be incumbent on you to prove that you are not a scumbag to get your children back.

This is a gross perversion of government power and this agency should be reined in or abolished.

Feel sorry for the ruling class, feel glad for the people

The Respect for Law Act
Requires proof of citizenship or legal status in order to qualify for an Oregon Driver license.

Election officials shall require satisfactory evidence of U.S. citizenship from any applicant who is registering to vote for the first time in Oregon.

No statute, regulation or order shall prohibit any law enforcement agency from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.

Good volunteers from OFIR (myself included) have been collecting signatures this weekend at the Portland gun show to get this measure on the ballot. The response is overwhelmingly positive.

The sell-outs who want "diversity" or "cheap labor" are not going to have the final say on this issue, the people are.

Republicans Address Hispanic Issues
Six Republican presidential candidates gathered Sunday at the University of Miami for an unusual Spanish-language debate, with immigration high on the agenda and the race in a topsy-turvy state.

...the only candidate who refused to attend was Tom Tancredo...

Kudos to Tancredo for standing on principle. People in this country are sick of pressing 1 for English.

I would also like to note that speaking/understanding English is a requirement for naturalization in this country and if you were born here then by the time you are eighteen you can certainly speak and understand our language. Are these candidates speaking to ineligible voters?

A Merry Kicker Christmas

On this day, the day we get our kicker checks, all politicians should have to publicly come out in favor of or opposed to the practice of returning excess tax revenue back to the folks who earned it.

Example: Ted Kulongoski could say "we need your kicker check back to fund needle exchange programs, hire folks with job titles like 'diversity manager' and for some avant garde artwork outside a state building."

When my wife brought this to me I was astonished. Not by the blatant racism, I'm used to that from government, but that Sherwood was doing this literally in my backyard.

Thankfully things weren't as bad as I thought. I'm not sure who put this page together (my suspicion is Leslie Garza-Murphy who I overheard had worked "very hard" on this event) but both the Sherwood school district superintendent and a school board member said that it was a mistake and should have been "for Spanish speakers."

But initially I thought that I would catch these folks by suprise doing the dirty deeds of helping illegal aliens with tax dollars. I started in the parking lot looking for any state vehicles but wasn't able to find any. (note: any employee who showed up would be reimbursed mileage for their personal vehicle)

When I arrived I was serenaded by Spanish music...


And quite a spread was offered up for dinner:


I then took the time to talk to Dan Jamison who is the district Superintendent. Bottom line: I like this guy and the event was not what the page from the school newsletter portrayed it as.

I asked some pointed questions about English immersion, how come the newsletter said "for Hispanic families", how much these events cost, what demographic percentage you have to hit before you get a session in a particular language and so forth.

Mr. Jamison was very candid and after a bit I told him the real reason that I was there: I'm concerned about illegal immigration and government agencies pandering to these folks. He didn't blanch or end the conversation and we continued to talk about my concerns and what this event really was. (part the the Sherwood 2020 plan which holds numerous forums and this was one for "Spanish speakers") He even noted that "pandering" would be "renaming a street" after Caeser Chavez and that kind of stuff was nonsense.

While I indicated that I'm not a fan of the Spanish language nonsense that we seem to do (and in a forum where Sherwood is getting feedback from the community I think that the overwhelming majority of the population agrees with me that we're tired of "pressing 1 for English") the event was simply a mirror of similar English events but in another language.

It ended with me encouraging Jamison to call in to the Lars Larson show (I did try to call you from the event when I first got there Victoria but my cell never works in the school cafeteria) to get feedback from "his customers" (his words) who are the parents and taxpayers.

All in all I'm dispointed that Sherwood went Spanish on me but it wasn't the illegal alien love-fest that I thought it would be and so I left early. Glad that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, doesn't make for good blogging but makes for a better community in Sherwood.

NYT: An Undocumented Newspaper
Last week, in an article titled "Walking a Tightrope on Immigration," The New York Times made the fact-defying claim that the illegal immigration issue poses a risk for Republicans who appeal to voters "angry" about illegal immigration. (This is as opposed to voters "angry" that they spent good money buying a copy of The New York Times.)

In support of this assertion, the Times was required not only to ignore the stunning defeat of this year's amnesty bill, but also to proffer provably absurd evidence. I dearly hope Democratic politicians continue to look to the Times as an accurate barometer of voter sentiment.

It must be hard being the illegal alien loving media and trying with all your monolithic might to make America feel the same way you do with absolutely no effect.

And I don't think you would ever hear the end of it if there was a groundswell of opposition to victory in Iraq that approached the level of public outcry over amnesty for illegal aliens.

Ever notice how the day to day irritants in your life are all the result of liberal policies/big government? Your morning commute, liberals obsession with mass transit. High housing prices, liberals obsession with density. (could also apply to the commute)

You can do all the PR you want but when every day average citizens are continuing to "press 1 for English" you are fighting an uphill battle. We are all affected and puff pieces celebrating illegal aliens isn't going to help your side. I can't even imagine:

The chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, Democrat Rick Metsger, said the consensus among lawmakers is that the public strongly opposes the idea.

He "believes life would be safer." Life is safer if we provide ID for criminals who otherwise wouldn't get it? I have an easier time believing in the tooth fairy. At least most of the lame-brains in Salem have realized which way the wind blows on this one.

Unfortunately the status quo is for illegal aliens to get this valuable ID and through inaction the legislature can keep this travesty going without generating a lot of public controversy like they would if they offered a "driving priviledge card." I think that we will be checking our ballots to solve this problem.

Respect for Law Act has three main components:

1. Requires proof of citizenship or legal status to qualify for an Oregon Driver license.

2. Election officials shall require satisfactory evidence of U.S. citizenship from any applicant who is registering to vote for the first time in Oregon.

3. No statute, regulation or order shall prohibit any law enforcement agency from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.

This measure will be a slam dunk with the public. Thanks to Oregonians for Immigration Reform, as opposed to our worthless government, for bringing this about!

It's the most wonderful time of the year

The air is crisp and kids are preparing their Christmas lists. That can only mean one thing: it's time for schools and other government offices to start hyperventillating over the fact that Christmas is a national holiday.

Ike Maness, Hillsboro Education Association President, asked the Board in April to reconsider the practice of naming the two week break in December and January Christmas Break. He believed it was exclusionary and insulting to non-Christian students.

because she wanted to address his comment that if the practice of naming the break Christmas Break offends even one student, it should be changed.

Director John Peterson said the issue had absolutely nothing to do with religion to him. He
believes we have an American culture that has given names to seasons and to holidays, and was not interested in being “politically correct.”

Imagine the standard of "if it offends even one person" being applied to everything we do.

Tacoma police arrested three people on suspicion of disorderly conduct and failure to obey a police officer today in a protest against the U.S. government's immigration policy.

About 50 people marched on Pacific Avenue. Many wore masks to hide their identities and identified themselves as anarchists.

Yeah, you guys really showed your parents, I mean those authority figures, I mean society that you can't be controlled. Only fifty people huh? That must have been a let down. Not enough folks to make you feel brave enough to start smashing up the starbucks. So sad.

The amazing race

Race race race. I don't understand how we are still so obsessed with race. When talking about schools people tell us what percentage of blacks are doing this and what percentage of whites are doing that. (we don't EVER mention the Asians though) Didn't we integrate schools? Can't we just give an overall dropout rate?

And for the record: Mexican is not a race. It is a nationality. Baby Gabriel is not "half-Mexican." He is half-hispanic. And maybe I'm 1/56 Irish but that doesn't give me any cultural ties to Ireland. Why do we count percentage points when it comes to racial background? Half this, quarter that, how about 100% American? (American is not a race as they don't let me check that on my census form.)

Attention opponents of illegal immigration: please do not preface your opposition to lawbreakers by stating that "this isn't about race." That would be like me prefacing anything I said about football with "this isn't about flying saucers." If the two have nothing to do with each other then it's a complete non-sequitur and doesn't need to be said.

You may think you need to be on the defensive against the charge of racism but only if you also you think you need to be on the defensive against the charge that you have seen UFO's when talking about football. (I sure am glad that my political party isn't having issues with that one)

My vote NO vote on 49 had nothing to do with the number of houses you could or couldn't build, it had nothing to do with transferability, it had nothing to do with farmland and fields.

I voted on the underlying principle that it is Un-American for government to intrude on people's lives and infringe upon their private property rights. I believe that is what people voted for in Measure 37, subdivisions or no subdivisions.

Unalienable rights shouldn't be subject to the specifics such as "it's ok for 3 houses but not for 15." Either we accept the intrusion by government or we don't. Apparently Oregon voters have accepted it.

Monday morning off

Got a couple of ducks this weekend. During my drive back I saw a kid holding one of those "come to our store" signs and doing a little dance on the street corner. I was at a stop light and noticed that there were numerous folks in their cars laughing and shaking their heads at the guy.

I wonder how many of those same folks who hand out money to a bum on the freeway onramp? As far as I'm concerned there is dignity in any type of work and good for this kid for being out there.

Speaking of employment, BOLI has put something in the Register Guard to help employers with their questions. Questions like "how can I verify if my employees are legally entitled to work" are covered. No wait, it's "These posters are available in English and Spanish." Silly me.

In the arena of Spanish speakers, most of Oregon wants to deport the illegal aliens from this country, DHS wants to deport a 2 year-old American citizen. Is Janet Reno the new acting director for this state agency or what?

In Fishwrapper-speak the home where the boy will be going is going to also be home to his father:

"Martinez had been scheduled for release from prison last month after serving time for a drug-related crime. The attempted rape convictions involved a teenage girl."

Drug related crime? Did he have a joint in his pocket or was he cooking meth in the nursery room? Of course, if you are a DHS spokesmouth then Martinez here constitutes a "safe and loving" situation.

The leading presidential contenders, Republicans and Democrats alike, routinely declare their opposition to illegal immigration.

Is it hard for you libs to deal with the fact that your candidates have pretend to oppose your positions when running for national office?

During Tuesday night's Democratic debate, five of the seven candidates indicated they would support states issuing driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. The front-runner, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, appeared to endorse the idea as well, before retreating into an answer with so many caveats that her rivals mocked her for seeming to take both sides.

On Wednesday, campaign spokesman Phil Singer would not directly answer whether Clinton supported licensing illegal immigrants. "The question misses the point of the issue," he said, stressing that the New York senator wants comprehensive immigration reform that puts people who are in the country illegally on a path to citizenship. (Amnesty)

I don't like these politicians actually talking about issues or taking a stance. Let's just go back to hearing about how much money they've raised so the Sheeple can go back to watching Dancing with the Stars.

Tues night rant

Is anyone else tired of politicians and their scandals? I'm not gay, I didn't solicit, I drove under the influence but they swept it under the rug, I raped the girl and everyone knew... etc etc etc.

Meanwhile we have The State excercising increasing control over our lives and even my family doctor opining (to my wife, since I don't go to the doctor unless you can see bone and even then I would try to self medicate with whiskey first) that "your child is perfectly healthy but I understand that you have loaded guns in the house and I'm concerned about that."

Yeah, be concerned if you show up on my property at 11:30pm and I think that you are a threat to my safety or the safety of others. Otherwise I don't need your opinion on my guns.

And the American Sheeple seem to have the attention span of the average American Idol watching idiot on the issue of illegal aliens. It was great that everyone rose up with one voice against amnesty but you notice that we are still pressing 1 for English, we are still arresting illegal aliens for serious crimes, we are still experiencing the burden of illegal aliens on our welfare programs and we are still standing by while The State looks the other way at certain lawbreakers.

But don't worry, George Bush is on the case. It was nice to hear him come out and bash the Democrats on their "attach a tax to every bill" tactic today. It would have been nicer if he wasn't spending the money like he was one of them.

The good news is that The State (yes, the same entity that has the power to send American citizens to foreign countries on a whim) is hiring a Problem Gambling Services Manager for $4,754 - $7,000 MONTHLY.

I'm seriously contemplating doing a doo-doo in my pants right now and seeing if I can find a state worker to come change me. I got $5 that says I can.

The good news is that my doo-doo will probably be covered under one of the new "Karl Marx Health Care Plans" that seems to pop up daily. Good Republicans are protecting us by conceding that we need socialized medicine but only for 90% of the population. The other 10% gets to pick up the tab since government reimbursement doesn't cover the whole bill. Thanks guys.

The Oregon Medical Marijuana Act was sold to voters nine years ago with the prediction that about 500 people a year would apply to get relief from debilitating conditions such as cancer, glaucoma, HIV and multiple sclerosis.

Today, the program has swelled to 14,831 patients, with 1,700 filing new or renewal applications each month, including a few diagnosed with common afflictions such as asthma, back pain and menstrual cramps.

Sharon Place cultivated medicinal cannabis in the early 1990s, before it was legal, carrying the drug to some of the hospice patients she cared for.

She was arrested in 1991 for growing marijuana at home. But the judge recognized her good intentions. He let her go with 2 years' probation and 80 hours of community service, including time gardening at an elementary school.

Please give us the name of the judge who sent a dope grower to an elemetary school as punishment. Who exactly was he trying to punish? Future generations? I know that this is just the Chicago Tribune, the FBI, the Department of Justice and the DEA amongst others and not a Doonesburry cartoon but Oregon is not just being laughed at here, we are being called dangerous.

Who is your market?

During the baseball game last night (or maybe it was shortly after) there was an all Spanish recruitement commercial for the National Guard. This was the only commercial during this time period that was in Spanish.

People in marketing don't just make random choices like that. The folks who made that commercial had a target market in mind.

The market wasn't me because I couldn't understand the commercial. It couldn't be illegal aliens because they can't sign up for the military. It couldn't be the young children of illegal aliens who speak Spanish because they live in a Spanish speaking household because those children aren't 18.

If you are over the age of 18 and here legally you will speak English. (Maybe I'm putting too much faith in the government schools here) You were either born here and got an education in English (unless you have brown skin in which case the government school will throw you in an ESL class regarless of what language you speak) or you are a naturalized citizen and it is required that you learn English.

My point is that this commercial, to reach ELIGIBLE people for the guard, could have been done in English. They did it in Spanish anyways. I believe that this targets the market of American citizens who will still tell you that they are "Mexican." Loyalty to another country is not a quality that the US Armed forces should be looking for in their recruites.

Build more jails/prisons, give less cable tv

An Oregon man was been arrested after fleeing police across a Snake River bridge into neighboring Idaho — only to reverse course near the stateline because he reckoned Oregon jails would be better than those in Idaho.

An Oregon State Police trooper says Maddox told him he didn't want to go to jail in Idaho.

Criminals try to avoid punishment whenever possible. There isn't a car thief in Oregon that wouldn't prefer to be arrested in Multnomah County over Clackamas County. Guess what that means for car owners in Multnomah County?

It would appear that the same rule goes for the state as a whole. "We treat our inmates well" shouldn't be the state slogan. Let's build jails/prisons and when they fill up let's build more. Let's take away the cable tv, dessert, cards, etc. Give them a Bible and that's it.

School sells kids for cash

Hillsboro parents sue over son's ESL placement
The parents of a Latino boy who does not speak Spanish filed a $700,000 federal lawsuit against the Hillsboro School District.

The parents allege that educators placed their son in an English as a Second Language program solely because of his ethnicity.

I believe that it actually had less to do with his ethnicity and more to do with the fact that the schools get more money for ESL kids. It just works out that it's the Hispanic kids who have to suffer.

I was seething with rage when I heard this report on the radio this morning. There was a school district (not Sherwood) that tried this garbage on one of my children. I am thoroughly convinced that there is a special place in Hell for the teachers/administrators/staff who stunt the learning of children for a little more funding.

Kathleen Casey-Kirschling filed for early retirement Monday, becoming the first baby boomer to start collecting Social Security.

Police give aid to criminals

Police reach out to Latino community
Imagine having your house broken in to but being too scared to call the police because of your immigration status. Police say that's a major concern in the Latino community, and officials want everyone in the community to feel they are safe.

That's why police tackled the issue head on at "Mano a Mano en la Communidad," which means "Hand to Hand in the Community." This bi-lingual presentation explained and answered questions about police procedures.

"As far as the immigration status that's not something that we ask," says Officer Robert Rios of the Eugene Police Department. "As a matter of fact, it is against the law for us as police officers to ask for immigration status of any individual in the state of Oregon."

..."We have several officers that speak Spanish but only a few that are bilingual or bicultural."

When they say they want "everyone in the community" to feel safe keep in mind that in this context they mean "everyone of one racial group." I also think it's insulting to say that the whole "latino community" is worried about their immigration status.

And while we're at it, do you need some sort of membership card to be in this "community?" I happen to know some hispanics who are part of the "American community" or "Oregon community" but don't divide themselves up by race.

As for giving crimnials aid and comfort, you aren't making me feel any safer in the "Lane County Community" Officer Rios. And does a "bicultural" officer respect the whole child rape culture of Mexico?

On a Friday?

Apparently there is going to be a protest at the local Social Security Administration building in Portland today. Several groups are upset about the "no match" rule that says if your name doesn't match your SSN on your I-9 form then you can't work.

This is much like you can't claim dependents on your tax form if their name doesn't match their SSN.

Since this is happening during a weekday I'm guessing that most of these protesters don't have jobs and thus don't worry much about their names and Socials but some of you who are going to work today might be supporting this. If you see your Union on the list then it's time for you to be upset:

While it has just recently made news about Oregon using Mexico's education system as a model for our own this program has gone on for quite some time.

My costume

Halloween is coming up and I'm thinking about dressing up as an illegal alien for trick or treating. (Instead of candy I'll ask for your SSN, your job or perhaps just some meth)

But I'm having some trouble figuring out how I'm going to do this. I mean, I already have the drivers license part of the costume and I'll refuse to speak English but what else do I need? A sense of entitlement?

That's what passes for "tolerance" in an editorial in today's Salem-News.com. You would be hard pressed to find anything approaching this level of name-calling in any pro-family editorial. "Think like a liberal or we will call you nasty names" seems to be the standard of operation these days.

That this writer is so clearly filled with hate for the [insert ominous sounds] Religious Right shines through like the very sun that causes global warming.

DMV's fraud busts hit Latinos
Workers at Oregon's Driver and Motor Vehicle Services have turned in nearly 200 people to police for suspicious documentation, an effort that overwhelmingly singled out Latinos.

The policy actually singles out criminals.

Already, suspects who might otherwise have gone unchecked have been caught: they confess to buying Social Security cards in Montana, Los Angeles and Hillsboro; and they admit traveling from places such as Nevada and California, where illegal immigrants are prohibited from getting state identification.

Clearly this new action is too effective and should be hamstrung by liberal handwringing. To show how laugh out loud the opponents of this policy really are they actually use two illegal aliens as their example as people who were "falsely accused."

I'm having a real hard time believe that the general public sees those folks as legitimate victims here despite The Oregonians portrayal as such.

School board starts tax on new developments
The North Clackamas School Board last night implemented a new excise tax on residential, commercial, and industrial development. The excise revenue will allow the district to purchase and prepare sites for future schools, and to help defray the cost of new school facilities.

No word on whether this new "make housing more expensive tax" will go to Clackamas school facilities like El Puente Bilingual School.

"El Puente's mission is to offer an enriched bilingual educational experience in which all students achieve high academic standards and celebrate cultural diversity."

This school literally has a requirement that 40% of their students be "native Spanish speaking."

Approximately half of the students in each class come from Spanish speaking homes. The other half live in homes where English is spoken. Both groups attend El Puente because each child wants to become bilingual in their first language plus that of their peers (Spanish and English).

In earlier grades most of the instructional day is in Spanish.

I seriously started this post with the intention of highlighting the absurdity of government making housing more expensive and then offering to help people pay for housing that is too expensive...

But after five minutes on the school district web page I have found enough superflous programs to make your head spin. (Everyone on the Diversity Task Force is going to need to get a real job) It's so hard to focus on the whiners talking about unaffordable housing while at the same time making housing more expensive when the whole "reason" for the tax, which is in theory that the school district needs more money, is so laughable.

It's up to the legislature

Actually, since we have a democrat controlled legislature I probably should have titled this post "It's up to the union." But Teddy K can come out for "illegal ID" if he wants:

Kulongoski described a permit the state could issue, allowing people to drive to and from work, but that would not serve as official identification as would a driver's license.

But Kulongoski will just be the one to sign the bill that the legislature sends him:

Will a customer be able to drive without proof of citizenship or legal immigration status?
The act gives the states the option to issue a “driving privilege only” card, which would be valid as a driver’s license only, and not recognized as an identification card for official federal purposes. The Oregon Legislature must decide whether Oregon will offer such an option.

So let's make sure that in the "special" session we have in February that our "representatives" send our illegal loving governor a bill with no illegal ID provision.

It's time for liberals to go into fits of self-righteousness and indignation once again, Ann Coulter has a new book out. Immediately the outraged crowd has seized upon the "If we took away women's right to vote, we'd never have to worry about another Democrat president" quote to harp about.

This is one instance where I actually find myself disagreeing with Coulter. I mean sure, at one time I too thought that the whole "women voting" thing was a big mistake but I've come to learn that we never gave women the right to vote, we gave husbands the right to vote twice!

In case you needed a reason (besides patent stupidity) to vote against amending Oregon's constitution to include a tax on a specific product to give government money so our overseers can "provide" health care to children...

Keep in mind that (as I have previously reported) the "Healthy Kids Program" is really the "Healthy Illegals Program."

In the initial report to Governor Kulongoski the recommendation was: "“All is all” –all kids, with immigration status irrelevant" (search terms highlighted for your conveniance)

So pretend for a second that you believe government should (with all the efficiency and customer friendly attitude of the DMV) administer health care, please keep in mind that Measure 50 will serve as one more magnet for illegal aliens to come to our state.

It is not healthy for kids to be surrounded by criminals.

Joy of technology

I'm boycotting any restraunt that has "automatic paper towel dispensors." It was bad enough when we got the blow dryers that don't really dry your hands but now we have to stand their waving our hands (looking like an idiot) in front of a machine in hope that it will have mercy on us and give us a small square of paper towel. This isn't progress.
